new fishfinder help.....need some insight

The lowrance transducers have many different ones and the older units are not compatible even to the point of gen 2 to gen 3. FromLowrance website Sonar TechnologyCHIRP CHIRP sonar is cutting edge echosounder technology. Unlike the single frequency of the Broadband Sounder technology, CHIRP continuously sweeps a spectrum of frequencies. Sweeping frequencies makes two improvements to the sonar image: Better target separation- Because CHIRP uses a range of frequencies, rather than a single pulse, CHIRP sonar greatly improves the ability to distinguish fish targets that are very close together or on the bottom. Fish become easier to differentiate from the structure they are holding to. Less interference from errant noise that would have been picked up by a single frequency sonar. CHIRP creates a unique range of frequencies and listens for only those sonar returns, this gives CHIRP sonar the ability to distinguish between what is a real echo, and what is just extra disturbances bouncing around underwater. Broadband Sounder™ Single frequency sonar—also referred to as Broadband—is commonly annotated as 50kHz, 83kHz, or 200kHz. Broadband is essential sonar technology at its finest. Broadband relies on pings and echoes from a single frequency. This technology is great for tracking bottom, finding schools of baitfish, displaying predator fish, and bait tracking. StructureScan® 3D StructureScan 3D features a multi-beam sonar technology ─ powered by an increased number of transducer receiving elements ─ to create high-resolution, 180-degree, three-dimensional images of underwater structure and bottom contours. Transmitting at 455 kHz, the transducer not only produces tru-to-life, three-dimensional images, but also boosts the performance of two dimensional DownScan and StructureScan HD imaging. StructureScan 3D scans can reach up to 600 feet to either side of the boat, for both 3D and 2D SideScan. It scans depths of up to 300-foot for two dimensional DownScan™ Imaging. StructureScan® HD StructureScan HD allows users to scan an area with a very high frequency signal, producing picture-like images. 455 and 800kHz frequency selections allow users to choose between 455 for scanning great ranges, and 800 for close-in, higher resolution detail. StructureScan HD literally turns the sonar paradigm on its side with the ability to search to the left and right of your boat rather than only below. StuctureScan HD imagery can be overlaid on top of cartography for a detailed, up-to-date view of structure in relation to your position. Called StructureMap™,this is excellent way to find underwater structure and changes in bottom layout. SpotlightScan® SpotlightScan is boater-controlled directional sonar that allows anglers to scan an area they are interested in fishing while on approach. For use with cable-steer trolling motors, it aims two sonar signals similar to StructureScan HD in a specific direction. An angler can view productive fish-holding spots, such as drop-offs, channels, and underwater structure, before positioning a boat over top of them making it easier to find and cast to fish. Art -
Nice day to get out and a fish to boot good job. Art

I have no expertise on this subject. When we USA apply for power to our house we are building we get an estimate on how much electricity that we are forcasted to use in 5 years. They then figure the cost of installing a line and meter to the house. You then pay the difference between the two numbers. I built my house and to bury a line it was over $5,000.00 additional but to run it on poles it was free. Now this is in a 1 acre or greater area so it is rural by definition. I have seen up North where electricity is run to islands and shacks that down here it would be so cost prohibitive to build just from the utilities aspect. To reach some of those areas it must cost a fortune since so much of Canada Cottage country is spread out. I can see it as an expensive overhead but not one that should be heaped on the areas that have high density. Art

You don't have to wait till spring take it tubing down the hill. Nice tube at a great price. Art

Asking for donations (fishing related)
aplumma replied to manitoubass2's topic in General Discussion
Paypal is a company that you can set up an account attached to either a credit card or bank route number and pay bills. It keeps your credit card # from the vendors and if you have an issue they will help get things straight. I use it quite often on the web so my credit card # is not in a lot of different data bases. With the email address I was able to send an amount from USD to CAN for I think 3 dollar fee and he has the money instantly. Here is a brief wiki PayPal's services allow people to make financial transactions online by granting the ability to transfer funds electronically between individuals and businesses.[63] Through PayPal, users can send or receive payments for online auctions on websites like eBay, purchase or sell goods and services, or donate money or receive donations. It is not necessary to have a PayPal account to use the company's services.[63] PayPal account users can set currency conversion option in account settings Art -

Tough day at work I just saw this. Yes this would have been shut down pretty quickly. We really are going to avoid political threads If you see one going bad before we see them please hit the report button. Thanks for your support and help; Art

My time line might be wrong I was member 77 on the first board. We sometimes would go for a week and not flip a page. The community began to expand past just fishing reports as we shared our trials of life. We liked the format and it has been working since then, The ads we run are minimum to keep the board flowing. The amount of bandwidth and the security updates and support at times is taxing but Roy has done an amazing job with dealing with the issues and negotiating deals that make it possible for us to survive. The donation route has been discussed and we would rather have people look at the ads and if one of them interests you go ahead and click on it. That will put a few pennies in the bank for bills without taking money from just a group that donate here. We all like the fact that OFC is here and strong with the loyal members we have here. So Thank you as well to all here and in the future. Art

We do have a chat feature that you are welcome to debate in. It is open to board members and we have relaxed the rules to a point in there. In past times it was a meeting place to drink a beer and yack about your day with friends. Some nights with 10 or more people showing up. To answer another question T.j. is the founder of this board 14 years and 4 versions ago. He is still here and active behind the scenes keeping ads up to pay the bills. I was voted the Ax man because I live far away and if a threat is made they have to drive far enough to reconsider there idea. Roy is here to help as well and keeps the bills paid and his wisdom is invaluable to me. Spiel is a Masterrod builder who works hard to read a lot of the content and makes adjustments as needed. That's it we all have busy lives but what this board has given us over the years we want others to have the same enjoyment. Art

No issues from me Cliff. We got a set of rules here to make it comfortable for almost everyone from 8 years old to the grave. We all can seem to follow the rules on any subject except politics. I have tried it both ways being rigid to the rules and being lax both ways I get crap for. It is just easier to stop the political threads quickly in the future. Art
-
Glad you are here you will find loads of info. from fishing to tuning a piano here. Art
-
Nope no refute you win They have broken the rules by definition of the rules thanks for your help. Damned if I do and damned if I don't will cause me to take the easiest path. I wish you all would make up your mind I let this go with a lax hand and get flack. You all wonder why political threads are going to be locked really fast this is the reason they are the only ones that I can't read and forget. Art

Dutch so far the people have stated facts and backed them up all within the rules. I do not have a preference on Dem or Rep it is a label that is as vague as American or Canadian in my eyes. thank you for pointing this out but it is not my motive but I can now appreciate it now. Art

Nice fish for sure. i have been trying to go Crappie fishing the last few days to see if they have balled up yet for winter. Art

Break this rule and it will also be locked. Debate is encouraged, but please follow the basic guidelines of debate. No name calling. Back up your claims with proof. Don't get your knickers in a knot if someone disagrees. KEEP IT CIVIL! Threads that are negative in tone or are inflammatory including political or religious will be locked if they are deemed to be detrimental to OFC's community feel. This board is about bringing people together it has no tolerance for snipping or bashing members or non members either for their beliefs or country of origin. Things that will not be tolerated. Flaming, baiting, name calling, prejudice, racism, sexism, sexual comments and inuendos, swearing, spam, and general boorishness. Let me give all of you a little insight. This board is frequented by both Canadians and US citizens like it or not. 45% of the ISP are from the US looking for fishing info. The site makes enough money by selling advertisements to Canadian places wanting the US Citizens to come and spend money. The balance of money is from the traffic from Google to pay the bills if either one of them leaves then this board closes it is that simple. Stop the whining and sniping I want this board to survive for all of the people to have a place to share there lives it needs to be friendly to the people who are 8 years old till the grave. We have in the past had threats made against the owners or moderators and since I am 12 hours away I get to be the Ax man since no one is stupid enough to come down here and face my form of justice. If you want to take shots at people or whine about the rules that were written by Canadians as well as myself then P.M. me and i will close your account. My first choice is to have everyone coexist I do nothing that is personal I enforce the rules.... Sorry for the interruption of this thread Art Co Owner

I hear it only works in Florida ohio and a few other states.lol Art

Live target Mouse for top water bass. Perch husky jerk for toothy critters. Senkos wacky rigged weightless when I am confused. One of the reasons that dark colors work so well when fishing deep is there are shade differences between black and absence/reduced light. When you use the primary colors they are absorbed by water so as light loses that color band they become the same color as the surrounding waters. Black however will still show up as a bright spot or a dark spot in the water thus more visible in most cases. Art

Sorry I am not going to read this crap from members that have a beef about the USA. Sir Cranks alot this thread is locked because of your comments. Art
