  1. As long as you know its not a private road I think your fine. There are lotsa private roads in some places. The township I live in has almost 100 private roads. Actually as I type this I live on a private road and have given the boot to a few people. The private roads here all have signs and let people know. I've been on both sides as I have a few spots I go to that is not private yet a few folks think they own it all.
  2. The thaw is good for me. Now the lakes don't have snow and will be perfect to access with atv by tomorrow aft. Even sleds should be able to get around on the ice with the snow were getting now. The bigger lakes may take a another day to tighten back up though. Its a win for ice fisherman but not so much for snowmobilers.
  3. I use it just for posting pics and saving some. I always keep it private and so far its worked pretty good. Hopefully it doesn't go the way of Photobucket.
  4. It was a fantastic crappie fishery. But the last couple years its has been a totally different lake. The fishing pressure it received has really hampered the fishery. Way too many anglers keeping every fish they could. I mean they are invasive species but it goes to show most of the biggest problem is usually the most obvious.
  5. I feel bad for the clients that lost their trophies. You cannot put a price on a trophy. Im not sure what I would do if I had one my headmounts or trophies stolen. I really hope these idiots are caught or better yet are recipients of an Darwin award.
  6. Dark Coloured swim jig, and a dark coloured spinner. Pitch till you puke, and work weed flats with a spinnerbait or a swimbait and you should run across some buckets. The lake is full of them. Its mostly a smallmouth lake but still lotsa big buckets all over the lake.
  7. I kinda feel it comes down to the waterbody. I fish bass a lot and in different types of lakes for fun and tournaments. A lot of lakes that don't have pressure the fishing has been fantastic as expected. Fishing the heavily pressured lakes like the kawarthas its the other way around. The fish are healthy and big, but you really gotta work hard and fish hard to find them. That's why you see big bags from tourney anglers, they are working their butts off pre fishing and patterning which is different than only having a weekend to fish here and there. Way to many anglers harvesting bass, and I have no prob with people taking some for a meal. But the limits need to be dropped and a slot limit implemented. Some of the lakes I fish recently had pike invade and that's hurt all species. Lake Seymour being invaded by water soldier has changed that lake. So there are lots of scenarios that affect certain waterbodys. In my humble opinion.
  8. Well done Vince. I think you used to fish BBTS a few years ago against me. Anyways hats off to ya. You're a good stick for sure. It would be a really cool experience there no doubt. Congrats.
  9. I agree. Too tough to put a scrutineer in the boat. I have a smaller bassboat and that would make it impossible having a third person with weight and area. edit. Suppose to quote other posts but it never works for me. lol.
  10. You have absolutely no clue. And I fish tourneys. I don't run many decals or have shirts, Local sponsors help me out and a few others I support them but that's how it works. We do more for this fishery (and I guide, rec fish and tourney fish) most anglers that whine about tournaments are weekend wannabees and fill their stringer with eaters. Focus on the reason why this thread was made. Offending fellow anglers that do it right is unproductive. This thread is reminding me why I left this site.
  11. Rice by a landslide. Lotsa smallies and buckets.
  12. Then you answered your on question. Comparing a Simcoe smallie to an inland lake smallie is like comparing apples to oranges.
  13. This so much. I use them prefishing (completely hookless) to locate fish. I almost always fish during a tourney with a jig or a plastic. I suck with frogs. But I have complete confidence in using them to locate them then use a jig to pitch in. Some guys are really good frog anglers but I agree with Garnet. Odds are your better to throw something else if you wanna a solid hook up. PS. I meant to quote Garnet about hookup ratio with frogs but clearly I suck at quoting lol.
  14. 14.4 lb walleye. Quinte last year. I've caught some lakers prob a bit heavier but never weighed them. That's my most memorable ice fish.
  15. I really hope they don't cheap out the Ranger. Once you own one you can't go back. I guess if they do change them the value of the used Rangers will go even higher.
  16. @Billm lol. Dude you don't use braided line for topwater applications. The reason your having trouble with the stuff is because you need to learn how to and when to use it.
  17. I really like it. I use both the original and super slick and I like the super slick more. I actually will only use PP as I really don't like the other braids. I use the super slick from 20-65 lb and it doesn't tangle much at all. I use pp red for lighter applications on spinners.
  18. I launched at around noon today to do some prefishing for an upcoming tourney. I got out and was stuck in a wicked wind and rain storm. I was solo too so the instant I had a break in weather I wheeled outta there. I casted maybe 25 times and landed two buckets and that's it. I'll be out at least 3 more times this week and one more time next weekend. I spoke to a Cpl guys at launch and they only caught 4 walleye.
  19. Hey steve. The bags are a 3 fish limit so obv no 20 lb bag. Winning weight was 10 plus for three fish which is solid. Its a small tourney but all locals that know that portion of lake. I don't fish it no more as we made a rule once ya win twice its grillmaster and help others so that's fun. I almost never get to fish kosh due to tourney schedule but its an amazing lake. It has some big fish in it.
  20. Kashabog is my home lake. The bay your referring to is Bass Bay. Last weekend there was a small local tourney and that area got pounded. Stick to the endless amounts of shoreline closer to where ur staying. I had much more success last weekend running that pattern. You cannot just take off on plane unless you know where your going. There is no navionics and the maps online (just google it) are a start but you will take a prop off if you rely on it. Muskie are there but not very many ( hence why they restocked lake with walleye recently). Lots of bass and eyes there. There is so much shoreline and structure you will have water to yourself that others haven't fished in years. Normally only a few hardcores fish it and the rest are weekend warriors as most cottagers are only interested in boating. Good luck.
  21. Be prepared for lotsa junk fish. Piles of Pike in Belmont. Run straight braid, even 20 lb flouro leaders won't help much. Smallmouth is what I would concentrate on. Tubes, jigs in deeper water and close to saddles and weed beds.
  22. That sucks. Just be absolutely sure they are targeting bass. Walleye can be found via ripping reeds, jerkbaits and jigging not just long lining like you stated. You probably are right and they are targeting bass as you know the waters better than I do. Take some notes of the boat, numbers and towing vehicle and report. Its all you can do. You start slashing tires and getting into confrontations and you could end up on the wrong side of a beating. Not worth it for a bass.
  23. Sorry Bill But your the one who is wrong. No point in back peddling. I'm sure you wrote what you meant wrong but regardless it came across with the pure definition of DUMB.
  24. So because they had a bass boat means they were bass fishing? U do realize these guys (myself included) fish for other species in bass boats other than just bass. That could be the dumbest post I've ever read on a fishing forum. Now if the were flipping docks and targeting bass on beds than of course its illegal but what you just stated is ridiculous. There are idiots of all kinds in all kinds of rigs and from shore. Think before you post.
  25. Take a look at the new Larson lineup. I seen one that fished a bass series with us and it was a great mix of a cottage boat and a fishing boat. Carpets all remove casting deck that adjusts. Really sweet rig and looked economical. It had a 150 merc 4 stroker on it. Around the 17 to 18 foot mark. I don't know what the new Bayliners are like but the old ones were sketchy on a good day.
