  1. Nice job Rick! will you help me? LOL
  2. LOL, mom bought a 78 cougar new, my brother bought a 79 t-bird new a couple of months later, both rear bumpers fell off a little after the warranty was off. Rusted out were they were attached. A problem for those years fords. I use frame hitches, I want to be able to tow to the max capacity of the vehicle. Might not need it but better than a do over.
  3. Er, lights? some places it isn`t legal? to use a light to attract fish? But if there are dock lights it will attract them.
  4. It`s hard to beat nite time bass fishing, the crowds are gone and they will slam lures in the dark. I also have not had much luck with pike at nite, weird because muskies can be active. Some lakes seem to have a much better nite bite than others, it may have to do with the amount of traffic the lake(or river) gets. Nite time can be a real mixed bag of fish, I have caught L/M, S/M, Walleye, and panfish in the same spots at nite, catfish also. They can find a real small lure and it doesn`t have to be a noisey surface lure. Some of my best nites have been using a 4 or 6 inch plastic worm or 1/8 ounce jig and pig, shallow water and a slow retrieve with bottom contact, they find it. Surface lure will work too, but don`t be afraid to mix it up if they aren`t hitting them well. Waters I have never fished or don`t fish often I like to get to before dark for safety reasons, waters I am familier with it doesn`t matter. I don`t speed around in the dark much anyway, usually electric motor fishing for me and staying as quiet a possible. Went with some friends years ago to the western basin of Lake Erie, dude got a new boat and wanted to try it out and mix in some fishing. We left on a Friday evening and got to the ramp just before dark, locals at the ramp thought it was pointless to try nite fishing for eyes on that part of Erie, we had our limits by midnite trolling crankbaits. You won`t know if you don`t try.
  5. http://www.rockpineresort.com/ I stayed at this place a few times with the wife and kids, it was a nice clean place, lots of sheltered water to fish. It has been a lot of years.
  6. Solo, I don`t know if it is the best way but I bookmark the page, then come back to the OFC thread, copy the bookmark and paste it on the thread. It works for me and is something I can remember. The river coming into the bay is pretty big, as big as some lakes down here, but you go up it a ways and there is a water fall, not big but it would require a portage. It is high enough so maybe only a salmon could jump it as I recall. Never tried to take a boat above it, there were a couple of decent size pools that we could see from shore, and we did catch a few smallish smallies out of the first pool from the bay. That was the extent of my fishing it, and I was young at the time maybe 16. I really have no clue what it is like farther up. Too many critters for me to be wandering around there.
  7. http://www.parrysound.com/fun/explore/148/ species of fish listed seems a bit limited.
  8. Shawanaga Lake? is that part of the river that dumps into the Georgian Bay? I have had pretty good luck in the river off of the Georgian, but I don`t think the fish can get upstream.
  9. No problems with me, different people are into different things, just not something I would do. If I want to fish I got rods and reels. LOL

  11. Right off hand I don`t remember seeing any bluegill tubes, I have seen grubs in color termed bluegill( Kalins?). Don`t know if they would help you, or how close you are trying to match a bluegill`s color. Seems to me the grubs were available up to 5 inch. I use Junebug a lot, purple with green glitter. Better for L/M than S/M on tribs of Erie and inland lakes, watermelon blue glitter a better choice for smallies on most lakes I have fished. Any color can have it`s days though.
  12. Tradition probably has something to do with the design, baitcasters were designed right hand retrieve and prior to the 70`s you saw very few that offered a left hand retrieve version. The only ones I remember were the Abu 5001c`s. The flipping and pitching craze that hit in the early years of professional bass fishing might have caused this to carry over, your using a stout rod, heavy line, and trying to pull the fish away from cover, you want your strong arm doing it, for most people it is their right arm, but they were used to right hand retrieve reels and there weren`t many options. Like Lew says, that has changed over the years, a lot of lefties out there now, most companies offer some models in a lefty. Spinning reels went the other way, most seemed to be designed for left hand retrieve and righties were added later. They are a newer style of reel though. It`s all a matter of comfort, you will use it more if your comfortable with it.
  13. Did they eat it? Doesn`t look like they were set up for C&R.
  14. Sorry to hear about your Granddad Brian, congrats on 25!
  15. Great pictures! The snow and ice makes it easier to see the wabbit tracks. Guess there are rednecks that far north, no pickup to stand in so the boat had to do? LOL
  16. Nice looking ride! A 115 should push that along well, and you can`t beat a wide boat!
  17. Glad to hear your OK. It is wierd how those allergies work, one of my sister in laws has no problems with dogs, but get her neat a cat and she might need the emergency room. One of my buddies had to get rid of his dog, his grandson was allergic to it, but not to cats. I might be allergic to rednecks, never traveled south much, when I did I got a hot sticky feeling.
  18. All the electronics on my boat run off the starting motor battery, two sonars, livewell pump, running light. My electric trolling motor has a separate battery. Never had a problem with the staring motor battery running down. I have fished all nite using the running lights and running the sonar.
  19. Dude broke the regs, and it appears knowingly. Not much of an excuse for that!
  20. Aren`t they supposed to be anodized? maybe they missed them?
  21. LOL Phil, I think I have fished around that dock! The water shots look like all of Erie, except calmer that normal. Nice job! You look better holding fesh!
  22. Always let bass go! LOL in season or out, except for a weigh in!
  23. A former friend of my dads got busted with 27 northern pike with another guy up there. Dude had been going up north a long time and knew the rules. The went to the same area we did, but never stayed at the same resort. Former friend, dad viewed them just like thieves, they were stealing. It`s one thing to make a mistake, but when you know and can`t be trusted?
  24. Like they are saying keep it supported by the bunks. if you don`t you are putting a lot of stress on the transom with the weight not being properly supported. Also check your trailer cross members for time to time when you have launched the boat, especially with bigger motors. I have seen the welds holding the cross members crack from the side rails, they take a beating going down the road. The ones I have seen crack have been to the rear of the trailer.
  25. Something like 25 years in a row of trips to the GB, sometimes twice a year, I don`t think I kept 10 fish total. I was there to fish, not eat fish, or bring them home, just more to it for me than a fish count. I have fished bass tournies with a 3 fish limit, it makes it tougher, the game changes, you need to factor size in more to your tactics and hope it works. No problems with a 3 fish limit in a tournie for me. I don`t need to keep any when it`s over, and I would fish for them regardless. Pike are a change of pace, same with ski`s, for me part of the draw of Ontario. No interest in the little guys, no interest in keeping or eating any of them. They both have to be 40 inches for me to consider it a good fish, not big, just good. Can`t get big ones if everyone keeps little ones. Walleye and everything else? fun to catch if they are big enough, a steelhead or walleye once a year keeps momma and the kids happy, or at least of my back. I limited myself, I like to see fish for tomorrow.
