  1. Johnny, no pike, water snake, not poisonous but the bite can become infected. Great company! I have met Don before, but a first for Phil and Captain Joe. LOL guys that aren`t sick whining about my bag. Weather conditions were questionable and sometimes fishing tubes in the rocks means frequent snags, I brought enough lead for everyone and some large sizes. Didn`t have many loses, think I lost one jighead and tube, probably to a zebra mussel infested rock. Sure didn`t take much to cut the line. Just didn`t get on the fish well, walleye or perch may have been a better plan, Captain Joe and Phil looked like they had some serious Erie walleye gear below deck. LOL take my own fish off? While Don has a camera in his hand? Me holding a sheephead? LOL seen too many traps before to fall for that one! Captain Joe has a good boat to fish out of for Erie, LOL and he catches the right kind of fish, first smallie was around 3 pounds so I thought it was going to be a good day slamming them. Drop shots were a waste of time, no clue why, don`t think even the gobies liked them. Water? Means a rod in hand, especially around docks, ya spent a lot of time in the harbor area there, spring a good smallie and largemouth spot, summer and fall mostly largemouth. Just wasn`t enough water around the dock early, it seemed way down compared to the old days. Maureen, boats now mean a bed and bathroom on board, I lasted as long as I could but needed a nap(dang geezer!) Just weird sitting on my butt fishing, but better than falling! Again, a great group to fish with! Wish I was comfortable going farther, but I was pushing my limits there. LOL it only took 3 of them to get me in the boat, and they complain about my bag? My BFA weighs as much as 4 or 5 bags! Well maybe 2. Thanks Guys! Even Sheephead are better than snagging the grass at home!
  2. Never had a power drive and wouldn`t, just need to be sure what was going to happen in close quarters and cable is better for that.
  3. LOL them stupid fish drove me nuts, never where they were supposed to be, and what is with them eating small lures? A lot of my hook ups came in shallow water, 2-4 feet in the lilies next to a near shore dock post while bass fishing. 20-30 pounds of fish running thru the slop with lighter line didn`t work for me. LOL but I managed to lose them anywhere. They are built to get in shallow.
  4. Congrats Terry and Mrs. Terry! I like to see big numbers!
  5. I have lost Muskies using 10 pound test mono up to around 25 pound test mono. I can`t imagine using 65 to 80 pound test mono, LOL throw out the anchor line when casting? The super lines seem to be a lot better idea, 65 pound power pro the same diameter as 16 pound mono? 80 pound test probably equal to 20 pound test mono? super lines for super fish. I prefer mono for most fishing I have done, but for muskie or out sized fish the super lines seems to make sense. Not enough experience using the power pro.
  6. Redneck just doesn`t sound right, canneck? Congrats kids and dad!
  7. Like mentioned, live bait will catch fish. Using worms size is suspect, everything will attack a worm, they do catch fish but the correct species can be difficult. On Lake Erie I used a jig like a fuzzy grub(light ot dark green) or a foxey jig tipped with a 3 to 5 inch golden shiner. Using a decent size minnow keeps the number of smaller fish away so your bait will last longer. You don`t have to spend a ton of money on lures, a couple of packs of tubes, 3 1/2 inch-4 Inch in Green Pumpkin, White, or a shade of brown will get you by. Rigging choice is up to you, but for most people in waters that don`t have thick weeds or wood a simple tube jig insert is the easiest way, 1/8 to 3/8 ounce are most used. Light for shallow water, heavy for deeper water. A dozen 3 to 5 inch golden shiners costs around 4. 50 here close to the price of a small pack(8-10) tubes and a small pack of inserts. I have caught smallies on minnows, worms and lures on the Georgian, the lures just required less trips to the bait shop.
  8. LOL, if you have to ask how much fuel it uses? you can`t afford it! Any relation to the Shook from Cleveland area with the Trans-Am racing in the late 60`s early 70`s?
  9. Great report Justin, also like the pictures. Water here is dirtier but it is funny how they will hold in shallow water under the mat. I start fishing at shore and work my way out, just never know what the comfort zone of the day will be.
  10. 4 Kids myself Wayne, I know how scarey that must have been. If the kids are ok then everything is!
  11. I heard stories about sturgeon being hooked in the Georgian Bay years ago, usually by guys fishing for walleye. Don`t remember if any were landed, just seen before they broke off. Good fight? Muskie, big pike, carp, salmon. Big pike might be the toughest to find in southern ontario.
  12. Welcome! a very nice fish! LOL a good way to start! Some nice ones in the GB, and plenty of water to look for them.
  13. Congrats Mr. Maina! very nice fish! LOL Pete, if you didn`t catch it you did a great job as a guide?
  14. LOL ya I had one, same success with it as Rick.
  15. Mikey, see a doctor, it could be strep, it could be mono. Trying to work thru what I thought was a cold didn`t work out well for me. Best bet is to get it checked out.
  16. glad ya`all got sum of dem shiner minnies, great pictures and report Glen!
  17. My son is going to school for it here now, precision machining. Lots of jobs in the papers here for it, don`t know how high you can get on the pay scale before they move the jobs to China or overseas.
  18. Smaller fish will hit them also, in waters with muskie they may be more cautious. Lure choice for me depends entirely on what kind of water I am fishing at night and results. A plastic frog rigged texas style may go thru heavy weeds better than some other lures like a jitterbug with exposed hooks. I like to keep my lure in the water where the fish are, not spend time clearing weeds off it. Just my experience the amount of noise a lure makes means nothing, I have caught more on lures that don`t make noise, jig and pig, plastic worm, tube. The lure doesn`t have to be on the surface they can and do find it in the dark, but you have to locate them.
  19. Nice fish and a lot of fun fishing for them!
  20. I always looked at it as being better to safely handle weapons than guessing.
  21. http://www.baitnet.com/states/ontario_baitshops.php don`t know if this will help, make some calls?
