Toronto pike shared/solo and The ugly truth about CCMT
OhioFisherman replied to snag's topic in General Discussion
LOL the birds and chucky? we are all doomed! -
Nice rack! Any idea what that weighed in at?

Don`t know what kind of a motor, but way too much for them. Should be under a buck a piece.

New to baitcasters, need a line suggestion
OhioFisherman replied to Beats's topic in General Discussion
17 to 20 pound test Stren has worked well for me on my reels. Braid is thinner, you would want a much heavier pound test probably. 65# power pro has the diameter of 16 pound mono. I put it on a couple of Abu C-4s it casts well, but I haven`t really used it enough to form a good opinion. -
Kevin, I have a 1986 35 merc, there is a slight delay from starting to water coming out the pee hole on mine but not a lot. I have never timed it. I always start mine in a plastic drum when I am not in the water.

Maureen, depending on how good your seal is around the trailer lights cold water can get in there and hit the hot bulbs and actually cause them to crack. LOL short trailers actually pivot faster than longer ones. 30+ years of driving truck, give me a short trailer and I look like a rookie sometimes. Just an adjustment from what your used to. Hauling a trailer just takes some practice, I am sure you will get used to it.

Never had a problem with mine, you can run a little rv anti freeze in it.

How do I set up so that leader won't tangle with main line?
OhioFisherman replied to mikeymikey's topic in General Discussion
If I am fishing an area where the depth is pretty much the same I will use a slip bobber, I don`t like my bait parked in one place, I prefer to get some kind of drift, even if it is just from the wind, or in case of minnows as bait their movement. Like solo mentioned the worm blowers work pretty well for keeping a nitecrawler off the bottom, it keeps them visible to the fish. Dropshot rig will work, they also used to sell some plastic clip on your line devices you can set and run a leader off of at just about any depth. A egg or worm sinker with a swivel below it and a leader 12 to 36 inches long tied to the swivel will give you some room to get the bait near or on the bottom. Kind of like a carolina set up with bait. You can use a floating jighead instead of just a hook. -
Great pictures and report! LOL a little photoshop? all those OFC`ers and no beer?

Some nice fish!

Forget the paddle, make the snow shovel do double duty!

Great pictures! I don`t think my dad (passed away in 1991) had any except for a couple of pictures of him, and one of him and his brother in France during WW2. Scars on his legs, grenade fragment, bullet hole probably made more of an impact on us than a picture would anyway. Dad was drafted(army) while waiting for one of his buddies to turn 18 so they could join the navy together. 50 bucks more a month to become a paratrooper so he volunteered for that, I guess growing up in the great depression makes you want a little more of a paycheck. He wasn`t rich or famous, but my greatest American! There were a lot more!

200% better than last year, LOL I caught 2 fish! Well sheephead? Met another OFC`er, priceless! and a friend of an OFC`er which seems the same. A much better year than I expected!

Life is so much easier when people work together!

Never fished for them this late, but with the first frost I like Rizzo`s idea. Except I prefer a shiner or chub over a sucker.

What is with Shimano and their pricing in Canada?
OhioFisherman replied to Canuck2fan's topic in General Discussion
skeeter99, just your opinion, do you feel the new Curados are that much of an improvement over the old ones(green)? To warrant the drastic price increase? -
Ohio guy need help finding fishing camp in Ontario
OhioFisherman replied to oarfish's topic in General Discussion
Oarfish, also from Ohio a little south of you. If you have never been there you have a lot more choices, and bodies of water than we do here. Also a lot of different choices in comfort levels, from back woods camps to good sized resorts right on the waterfront. A lot are an easy one day drive, some take a little more effort. Thousands up there compared to what we have here. Some are in towns so other activities are close by, with in walking distance for some. Scenery varies too, southern Ontario a lot like here, rockier as you get farther north. -
Part Czech some of it seems familier Ontario, Catfish, Georgian Bay Moon River, welcome!

Lew mine is a 2000, my heater control wasn`t working right, no matter what position I put it heat would only come out the window defroster. That control also works off of vacuum, the plastic line was broken. Yours is still under warranty? I was having my plugs and plug wires changed and they fixed it at the same time for free, just cut out the bad part and slip a rubber tube over the ends. Maybe just a leak, but probably a special tool to tell where. LOL or a computer!

Pig, all them smaller bait fish around! It might have choked on that one!

WhopperwannaB? Oh Nooooooooo! Sorry Phil, your cute!

Hardware store or nut and bolt shop should have stainless steel or possibly brass ones a lot cheaper. Cabela`s or BPS might have a boaters nut and bolt kit containing some in it?

Anyone's boat worth more than the towing vehicle?
OhioFisherman replied to BFSC Kevin's topic in General Discussion
LOL I drove a 1986 chevette for a lot of years, used to steal the wifes astro when I needed a tow vehicle. That or wanna fish? tow the boat! -
Not in your area, and just a general observation based on my location. My land value went from 12,500 to roughly 40,000 since 1989, add the house and it`s a lot more. My county has been one of the fastest growing for a number of years, a lot of reasons for it. Crime in the big cities, school system, the general atmosphere of smaller town life. Like Kirk mentioned, location, location, it seems to generate more interest, higher values. We do have much fewer developments in my immediate area of the county, a 3 acre minimum lot size slows overbuilding. Yes some older homes have been bought just to be torn down and new ones built, but most had larger lots. Or they were purchased for access, at some pretty high prices I thought. Again the location thing.
