Dang John! That creek usually wasn`t more than a slow trickle, some kid of blockage from the ice? Global warming means you can now go by boat all the way for beer runs? Store? WOW Last time I was up the only store I remembered was Kennedy`s. Hope everyone makes out OK!

Some guys also use a glass rod, softer action prevents the hooks from tearing out as easily. I didn`t use braid, just didn`t see a clear need for it for bass. Never had a problem with hook sets or feel for the most part. The stretch of mono also can help. A lot depends on the cover for the line, sparse weeds you can get by with lighter line weeds and wood go heavier. Captain Bruce is right with the line diameter sort of a fine tuning for location an depth, light line deeper heavy line will let the lure run shallower. Then there is always changing to the lure(tool) that fits the intended job. Manns shallow runners worked for me. Most of the time I was fishing out of a boat with a bow mount electric, if it got dicey I moved in to pull the fish out. From shore your options diminish. Used small shad raps (size 3?) Storm wee warts a lot, big fish will take small lures.

Best wishes Shelley and family! -
I don`t ice fish, but I use a snap most of the time like these http://www.upnorthoutdoors.com/stamina/ter...Lock_snaps.html size 1 will work for panfish but can put you at risk for bigger species, I have had them open. Never had a 2 or 3 open but I don`t fish for pike or skis except up north and it`s been a long time. A stringease snap looks to be the safest beat for larger fish like those. In line spinners and some others will cause line twist, a quality ball bearing swivel will help prevent it. A balancing act, some of the bigger snaps and swivels will throw off the tracking of small lures.

Venice is on the southwestern coast? Most of the better bass lakes are in the central region I believe. One of my buddies went down some years back, took the family, while the wife and kids visited Disney Land he went fishing, hired a guide for a couple days, shiner fishing and got a 10+. Depends on how hard you can hit it and how much you want to spend. 10+ Pretty common down there, pretty rare here $$$.

I hope that all gos well and you have a speedy recovery!

Girls in dresses on skates? Great!

One of my friends made some a larger paper clip with 3 or 4 ounces of lead poured around it. One end was straightened to given the lead someplace to bond to. They work ok, cheap to make . Just slid it on the line and let it slide down and jiggle, usually knocks the lure loose.

LOL Nice job Joey, had to be a blast not knowing exactly what, but big. Just teasing on the snag, I have caught a lot that ate things they weren`t supposed to eat, minnows, tubes, jigs. I thought maybe it took the perch after you hooked it. Didn`t look like cold water was slowing down it`s eating, fat rascal!
-
LOL snagged it? It wouldn`t have possibly eaten the Perch on purpose, they don`t eat meat. LOL

Simcoe smallies look a little strange!

A 24/7 business and the resort-camp can only be as good as the people running it. Fuel prices probably won`t drop significantly. A lot of foreign (USA) tourists have spent themselves into a hole, hard to justify a vacation - travel when you can`t make your mortgage payment. The foreclosure listings in the local papers far out number the job listings, they advertise a week at Disney World here on TV for 1600 bucks and given the choice of a week at DW or a week up north for a comparable price most are heading south. Tourist business is changing, the well to do will always be able to afford it, the average family maybe not. A changing mindset with a lot of options for the travel dollar.

Computer Virus Protection . . . . (DEFINITLY N F)
OhioFisherman replied to Photoz's topic in General Discussion
I have been using AVG since Rick first posted about it, no problems with it, and it doesn`t tie up the computer like Norton. I did have issues getting Norton to go away, but once I got it out all is good. -
It hit late last night here Lew, temps were in the low 50`s yesterday snow blowing around now, not as windy now as last night but still a stiff breeze and a lot cooler.
-
Great pictures Lew. Cleveland is also surrounded by a park system, they call it the Emerald necklace, full of deer. Rural were I am, had them in the neighbors garden Wednesday evening just before dark, probably 250 feet behind my house and the dogs know, they run to the patio door and bark. Some nice racks, a lot of running around this time of year, probably the worst for them running out on the road.

I don`t ice fish, but the jigging rapala type lures will work in the open water seasons too. I have even caught catfish on them.
-
I`m waiting for the next ice age!

Florida, Texas, California, family in all of them, big bass too!

everyone/thing tries to avoid toronto as much as possible ... LOL I thought it was Cleveland?

LOL I wake up tired every day. Keep on track Steve! You got it all! A white ford wagon? a goal? -
LOL seen that a lot too, 17 inch fish thought to be 5 pounds, if you fish enough tournaments and see the actual weights as they hit the scales you learn. 20 inch maybe, 17? give em a year or two. Colors on the smallies can be weird, seen some from inland lakes here with colors sort of like that one, just not real pretty as the great lakes fish, never caught one with colors like that up north either. I don`t know if there is or can be any cross spawning between L/M and S/M. Caught a lot on Erie here that had one bad eye, one eye would look normal, the colors in the other looked like they ran together. Don`t know the cause, Pollution? Didn`t seem to be an injury, no scaring. Any smallie over 6 is a nice fish, had days when 5 17 inchers would have been nice.
-
LOL they feed them pumpkins and beer down there.

LOL I am a redder neck, I made one out of a semi rim and rebar, a little tougher to carry!
