Nice looking ride, but I was always partial to higher gunwales on a boat.

Have you ever seen drunken mud wrestling? We have two political parties, Republicans, which tend to be conservative, up to and including extremists, and Democrats, which tend to be more or excessively liberal. The parties are in the selection process now, both seem to have a few drinks, talk nonsense, and attack other party members! It's all good clean fun! Sling some mud! Once the nominee is chosen? The champions of the parties face off for the grudge match! It's time for more drinks, more talking nonsense, more mud slinging, and then the people have to pick a er... a winner? LOL Like big time wrestling from my youth? A lot of it seems like "staged" events, and you have to follow the party rules, the main one seems to be? The other party is wrong, it's always their fault! Don't betray your party by saying anything good about the other! Lies are perfectly acceptable! as long as we win! Power and glory rule! I try to sit on the middle of the fence, so I can laugh at both sides! but either side can, and probably will make you cry! LOL

Joey, I have a Boston and he also snores and wakes up howling at nothing. I recall reading somewhere that it is fairly common for short snout dogs to snore, breathing issues? Bostons are also bothered by heat, the density of oxygen is less in warm air, just like in warm water.

As an American I find that thought a bit scary? http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/money/trumps-tax-plan-would-save-his-family-billions/ar-BBlQgVJ?ocid=fbmsn " Trump's tax plan would save his family billions " It would seem that being president would have more than the ordinary perks for Trump? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-empire-sought-visas-for-at-least-1100-foreign-workers_55bc2c8ee4b06363d5a2615f " Donald Trump Empire Sought Visas For At Least 1,100 Foreign Workers " " foreign waitresses, cooks, vineyard workers and other laborers " Hmmm... Really? He couldn't find Americans to fill those jobs? Or just not at the pay he was offering them?

Fishing the St. Lawrence, near cornwall
OhioFisherman replied to Cloudy15's topic in General Discussion
Cloudy, if it's any help? http://greatlakes-seaway.com/en/navigating/nautical-charts/index.html http://www.gpsnauticalcharts.com/main/ca/great_lakes_canada_and_st_lawrence_river-great-lakes-canada-and-st.-lawrence-river-nautical-charts-folio.html I have no idea of the area, but a marine store in that area may have charts available? I got my charts for the Pointe Au Baril area years ago from a marine store in Cleveland. It was a popular destination for yachters and sail boaters, I would guess that the St. Lawrence is in that area? There were people fishing in that tournament in areas that looked sheltered from the current and wind, but I have no idea how far they may be from your destination. Boat traffic and wind are also a factor in a canoe? and there appeared to be a lot of good sized boat traffic. Safety first? the life you risk may be your own? -

I watched the elite series tournament on the St. Lawrence, they mentioned a 5 mph current? That could turn into a lot of work in a canoe? -
Some of the ones we saw in Lake Erie had to be 3-4 pounds, i don't think Lake Erie on this side has anything big enough to swallow one of those fatties!

Chief is pulling nets from Nipissing
OhioFisherman replied to kickingfrog's topic in General Discussion
It took a commercial walleye netting buyout and ban and a few years for Lake Erie in Ohio to recover from decades of over harvest. A poor or bad spawn in a year or two might create the same problems if most to the fish being caught are from the same spawning years? -
I rarely kept fish after I hit 20 years old or so, my experience my last few years of fishing with the few I kept? Walleye and Steelhead in Lake Erie had a diet mostly of Emerald Shiners and Shad, occasionally a small Perch our two in their bellies. No idea what the baitfish population is like in that lake, but if you have thousands of fisherman coming to the lake and catching baitfish on their own too? The population could also get depleted? Then the Walleye have to depend on a more available food source? Fish eat fish?

Advice with shallow spool spinning reel
OhioFisherman replied to FrankTheRabbit's topic in General Discussion
I don't know if the spool being shallow is the problem with the casting distance? A 30 inch pike certainly shouldn't spool you with 12# test line. -
It wasn't unusual to see those that size and a bit larger along the shallower areas of the lakefront in Cleveland when I was a kid, I had no idea they would go that deep. We never saw small ones, I am just guessing it would be pretty hard for them to hide from predators.

Triumph Roplene molded polymer boats
OhioFisherman replied to mike rousseau's topic in General Discussion
They aren't a bad looking boat, and look like they would be easy to clean up without carpeting. I looked at the 17 dual console and 19 on the site, neither seemed to be running the maximum recommended motor? A cracked hull or transom on those might be a hard fix? -
Cool! There are some pig smallies there, and it's not hard to find rocky areas!

http://www.triumphboats.com/boats/170-dc/details.php First I have heard of them, their selection does look limited? -
I saw an article on this earlier this month or late last month, that lake, even in this area was famous for it's walleye fishing. I am sure netting doesn't help the situation, but the problem may be more complex than that? http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_28534732/mille-lacs-why-there-are-no-easy-answers " The walleye is also king in Mille Lacs. In fact, if you want one species to "blame" for eating all the young walleyes, blame the other walleyes, which are, bar none, the most prolific predators in the lake. Right now, the most ravenous killer of baby walleyes, as a group, is probably the 2013 generation. Which is the hope for the future. You see the dilemma.
