  1. Dan, those are some beautiful fish you had in those pics! I can only try to imagine what they looked in person. The report was not something to be worried about, it was good to see you getting onto fish. I'll have to look into making a trip up there some time. Hopefully not too far into the future. Look forward to seeing the next report be from you, MB or other party members. Sounds like it's gonna be a blast. Envious, Stan
  2. Awesome, WTG on the win!
  3. Welcome aboard Richard.
  4. Gee thanks alot for making me feel even more hungry after a light breakfast! Looks tasty, I wonder if there is any difference in meat taste (base without including the spices) compared to those found locally. One's I've tried in Ontario are somewhere between a shrimp and a lobster taste with a slightly softer texture. They are yummy for those willing to give it a try.
  5. I think it's a Coho too. No large black spots on back or gill plate.
  6. Right On!
  7. Hey Scott, thanks for the info, we'll be shore fishing. I'll look for the park area. Not sure how free they will be given this weekend. I'll be sure to give DQ a go so long as the lines aren't too nuts. We'll be packing some food to picnic on anyways. Can I expect the usual sunfish and perch or rockbass there? (I'll be using artificial plastics, e.g. power maggots etc.) Stan
  8. Hey all, I'm going to make a day trip over to Bancroft this Sunday for the tail end of the Gemboree festival/event. I was wondering if anyone could PM me any possible shore spots that would be suitable for fishing with kids 4-9 yrs. We'll be looking for picnic spots as well. Don't need to know any honey holes just spots where there might be ample panfish to keep the kids occupied for a short time. BTW if anyone is going and sees my van, can't really miss it as it's plastered with work logo and stuff, please say hi. Thanks, Stan
  9. Welcome Mark, I fish the Notty as well come the fall. I'll look for you the next time out. stan
  10. I've had some follows with them but never any hits, I would suggest spraying or coating them with scent if you plan to use it, I think the plastic smells too artificial for the fish.
  11. Congrats Jim on your PB 'ski, and a beauty one at that too! Stan
  12. No concerns on that front John, I hit the showers at the fitness club before getting back to the office. he he.
  13. WTG Jen, good report and pics!
  14. Ummm, actually I purposely didn't bring it to reduce any proof of me fishing as I was supposed to be doing something else Still trying to figure out how to explain the one kept fish... I just hope my wife doesn't check this board.
  15. Fishindeveil i Well, I had made a decision to meet as many OFNer's this year as much as my tight work will allow. So when the opportunity arose I took a chance and hoped it would work out. Well that chance happened and we met up to go for lake O salmon. It was a tough day out today and being a newbie to "big" water fishing, I think I was just trying to absorb all of the info and experience from fishindevil. With a SW 7-15km wind and a chop on the water it was a bit slow according to my mentor for the trip. Of the time out on the water with "riggers" and "dipseys" we only managed to boat one salmon and had two lines knocked off but yielded no fish. I just have to remember with the above setups to "reef" on the rod as a weak hook set is not the way to go with sliver salmon.
  16. Great work Mark and Mike! Mark, just let it rest and heal up properly and then you'll be ready to go for those longer outings in no time.
  17. Welcome to the board Yo-Guy. Good reports and pics, look forward to seeing some more.
  18. I actually mentioned that to the Misses but she doesn't want to do it either as we used to live in Moncton, NB and did some trips about 9 years ago. So I'm thinking of a Northern Ontario trip for a week or so at the moment. Especially after seeing what Moosebunk posted :woot: Also on the agenda are: Rock hound event in Bancroft on Sunday Aug 3rd. 2 night stay at either Fallsview Waterpark or Great Wolf lodge in Niagara Falls. Coupled with Marineland and African Lion Safari.
  19. Saltwater: Halibut Freshwater: Crappie Walleye (Under 2 lbs) LM Bass (under 2 lbs) Small Speckies GB Steel/Salmon Whities Of the from fish I haven't tried: Burbot is at the top of the wanted list followed by Wild Arctic Char.
  20. Awesome picture of Mother Nature's power.
  21. Happy B-Day, hope you have a great day!
  22. from July 23: Thanks everyone for the input, it looks like we'll put the trip on hold for a year or two so we can plan out a more not-so-rushed trip. I guess we'll do an Ontario mini-trip instead. Or a few mini trips. Thanks to everyone again, Stan
  23. Good to hear that Lew, wish her a speedy recovery and a stressless 6 weeks.
  24. I had the same problem over a year ago. Apparently Berkley already knows about it but has decided not to do anything about it yet. Best thing to do is transfer all the contents to a watertight container (can get on from the dollar store/dollarama). Then give berkley another call and complain about the container, hopefully at one point they'll start listening.
