I have fished the Notty mouth since the beginning of September and have spoken to other anglers that frequent the rivers, from reliable anglers, I gather they started mid August and were pretty much done by 2 week of September (about the time I caught my Coho). I've been up there the last four weeks and have not had much of a sniff let alone a bite. The rainbow trout already appear to be slightly deeper into the rivers this year compared to last year (likely due to higher water). Seen one brief hook up (lasted about 5 secs) last week by a person bottom fishing with roe in the 3 hrs I was there. I'll likely be up there again this Sunday, if I land a fish, I'll post it, if not, well..... Tight lines, Stan

Wow, good on you to stick it out and it paid off this time. Congrats on the PB pike and some nice 'eyes. might I suggest a winch or having another truck / friend to be there to help get out of situations like that.

Congrats on the hunt but where are the pics? Posts like yours always make me think about looking into hunting. Stan

Looks like an interesting piece Wayne. Mind you it looks very heavy. Be careful and don't put your back out bud.

I was wondering where you got the daiichi 90's in #5, I've been looking around for quality hooks at BPS and LB but I haven't come across gammy's or dai's smaller than 2/0. Do you use a finishing nail for the pin? Thanx for the post, Stan

Anyone have a spot in a boat left?
-
Was up at the Notty yesterday morning, washed a few lures and flies. Spoke to a few local angler (the ones that are out almost every day) and they said it has been really slow, a few rainbow trout have been caught, mostly smaller ones (or so I've been told). The river was busy with anglers, more that what I like to be around fishing with so my stay was about 1.5 hrs before I started exploring for less occupied locations. As Wayne mentioned just above, with this rain maybe we'll see some more fish head into the river.

If it was for a credit card app, I usually say "I've got one of those" and keep on walking. Definitely a gimmick to get people to approach them.

New to Toronto & looking to flyfish!
wuchikubo replied to nigglesworth's topic in General Discussion
Welcome to the board. Since you mentioned you're in Toronto the start point has been determined but how far are you planning to go to get onto fish? I'm sure some other will chime in soon. Stan -
I'm interested in going as well and will be there if there is someone who will put up with a muskie newbie like me in their boat.
-
Thanks Glen, hope you have a great weekend as well.

G., it was before my joining as well, but I'm saddened by knowing this and hope that you and your family has strength on this day. Also wishing you and your family great memories. Personally, I don't think I would have your strength to get through it all. Stan

Lew, is this only for experienced 'ski anglers? Or will a muskie newbie like myself be allowed to join the ranks of masters like yourself? It's good that you have this post nice and up early, I can plan for it. If there are any more spots on boats, I'd be interested (so long as the muskie group initiation doesn't require me to swim for it, LOL). Stan

I knew this fish porn was coming after missing the invite by a night. You didn't disappoint. Just wish I had been able to make it. Thanks for sharing, I think. Now I won't be able to work today without the pics going through my head.

Fantastic read up on your summer Wayne, felt like I was standing in the shadows there. Are most of the tree up there mostly evergreens? If not, I'd like to see a pic of the colorful scenery, I've never been up that way but can almost imagine the spectacular scenery. Thanks for sharing, Stan

Thanks Blaque

Thanks Dan, I forgot to check the link reading through the replies. Now, I have some work to do to get some new flies tied up. Stan

Great report Wayne. Those were some great looking 'skis. Not so great weather but the company I'm sure made up for it all. Thanks for sharing. Stan

Thanks everyone for the suggestions so far, Blaque's suggestion is exactly what I'm trying to do. I'm still not sure what you mean by using the pin. The picture you provided wasn't clear for that. Does the eyelet go through the hole of the bead? Then put the pin through the hole to take up space and trim the pin? Where about is the best place for beads for this application in the north scarborough / markham area? Thanks, Stan

Talking to another friend of mine, I was turned onto the idea of tying up some jigflies for some rainbow trout. My question to those who tie them, which style of jighead works best and would you look for a certain manufacturer? Thanks, Stan

Wayne, the progress looks great, you've definitely been busy in May. Look forward to the following update.

Glad to hear you're back on the road to recovery, as mentioned above, don't rush the repair else risk another go at it.

MIKE, My hats off to you and your epic trip report. It's good to have you as an asset to this board. Although it keeps me dreaming of what else I could be doing in life.
