Roger,They are both very reliable engines. If you plan on doing the maintenance,All your going to need a marina for is parts.
I'm partial to merc. But at the right price I buy a Suk.
Corrosion is caused by a leaky seal at the battery post. This happens mostly from over tightening. If the battery is still under warranty with no damage to the post they will replace it.
If not a good cleaning and a generous amount of terminal spray should help to seal it back up.
One thing about blind bolts. It is not getting the bolt out but getting it back in.If you don't have room to work fingers too start the bolt your beat.
What I do when it comes to blind nuts or bolts is once loosen,I try to remove an install before I remove conponent..
What slowpoke said. A 4 blade aluminium will almost give the same as a three blade SS in hole shot and top end,but not in cornering. There will be too much flex.
It`s 127in long x 48in. Ski stance is 40in. Weight is 630lbs. Track is 20in wide x 156in long 1.25. It has a ripsaw track on it and very wide skis.
It is very comfortable to ride. I don`t know what the HP`s of the engine,But it`s more then enough.
It`s a great sled. You should get one. You will have no worries out there.
I`m thinking of studding the track. But it will cost a small fortune too do it right.
Simon,I have a the expedition le with the 600sdi engine and it will go any where. Two flip up with all the gear for three and three on the sled was not a problem.
I can break trail in deep snow.Slush hardly slows me down and it still lifts the skis and is quite fast. It`s a great all round sled.
Thank you very much for the well wishes. I woke this morning with thinking,One year old and deeper in debt.Half way trough my coffee, It dawned on me, i`m not in debt.
One of the great things about get older, you own every thing and not the bank.
Bottom plug should be wet. It`s wet from the other cyls draining down.A fouled plug should have heavy carbon build up.
Get a spark tester it will make things easier.
myself would pull it out and take to a shop to get it bench tested.
I changed the alt in the truck this just because it was 10 years old.
A stitch in time saves nine.
It has more too do with the quality of fuels and lubricants.Just in the last ten years there has been huge leaps and bounds in quality and advancements in thees fields.
Mike.Since you got alot of work done on the engine this year,And the problem returns I would suggest carb gasket or carb synchronization.
When you got it re-built they would have to reset the carbs. One of the screws could have come out of adjustment.
Need more info. When the engine is acting up does it serge. Rpm`s rise and low.And how is the hole shot.Is there any shuddering,Not smooth threw the lower rpm`s.
