My thoughts exactly...

That is why public fishing areas near private property require extra attention to maintain. Unfortunately, these sorts of people give all anglers a bad name and are usually the cause of public access points being closed to anglers. It sucks to have to pick up after other irresponsible people, but I got tired of whining about how much trash there was when I was fishing down at Bronte. CRAA will be doing a clean-up down at Petro Canada park in a couple of weeks, I am just waiting to hear back from Trout Unlimited's Ted Knott chapter and Halton's Field & Stream rescue before firming up a date, to see if we can combine resources to get a better turnout for the clean-up. Typically only about a dozen people show up and usually half of them are my non-fishing family & friends who I drag along to pick up trash. It would be awesome if we had 30-40 people and then we could cover the QEW access point as well as the Dundas St access point too. Keep an eye out for the details of the clean-up day, I've already picked up gloves and garbage bags from the City of Oakville for the volunteers. Tony

Lots of salmon staging off any of the tributary mouths, no need to deal with the crazies upriver...

You may want to consider going to the 27lb lead instead of 17lb, that way you can also use it for spring Kings Tony

Maybe tell them you've been shot... It reminds me of that joke when the guy calls in about someone breaking into his home and the operator says they've dispatched an officer but they are all busy and it will take a long time...so he calls back and says he shot the burglar, then suddenly there are 5 cruisers pulling up within minutes...the officer says 'I thought you said you shot the burglar' and the guys says ' I thought it was going to be a long time'...something along those lines anyay Joking of course... 76CSX is a higher-end unit and I have heard great things about it, including being able to receive signal from a basement... Tony

When was the last time you had a background check, Bob? There should not be different laws or regulations on immigrants any more so than people who were born here. That is why we can be proud to call ourselves Canadians, we are all equal as Canadian citizens. Education, individual responsibility, and enforcement are the key to ensuring that all citizens abide by fishing regulations. Tony

Roe works in dead still water, absolutely. Lures are more fun though Tony

I beg to differ though Ron...It's about time you were rewarded for all the time on the water you invest. See you on the water! Tony

Yeah I hear ya, me and a buddy played through the whole campaign in 2 nights co-operatively over Xbox live. Sounds like your boys are pretty hardcore to finish it so quickly The good thing is that there are so many online features, the game won't get old for a long, long time. Lexxington, you're going to love the storyline, all the loose ends get tied up and a great twist at the end, but I won't say anymore Tony

Stick with the Pete rod, but get a phonebook to stand on ok, seriously.... I concur with Wayne, the St Croix rods are a work of art. Tony

With $170 Million in sales in the first 24 hours the game hit stores, surely there are some people here that play the game. Send me a PM with your gamertag and we can hook up online. Tony

The place is looking great floors, stone wall, all of it. Now the best part, all that work you get to enjoy, especially the stove when it gets Temagami cold! The rest of the photos certainly summarize the great time we all knew you'd be having with the new boat and big lake to explore. One of the things I am really looking forward to is getting all my non-fishing family out onto the boat with me. Life gets so busy and before you know it a summer has gone and you sort of regret not doing more things with family, something I want to work on for sure. Hopefully the boat will contribute to that, since a lot of family has already been mentioning getting out tubing, going to watch fireworks or whatever...Even though it's not strictly fishing, it will be an avenue to get together more. Also, good to see some evidence of actual fish in Temagami After the weekend last winter I was pretty sure it had been next to fished-out! Hope to see you soon Wayne. Tony

re the threads on all the salmon river fishing
tonyb replied to aniceguy's topic in General Discussion
A wealth of knowledge aniceguy, hopefully you have provided some insight for at least 1 lucky reader. -
That's why you sometimes have to look into some other key identifying features when a fish looks a lot like a similar fish. In this case, the huge anal fin gives it away. Chinooks have the largest (most rays) anal fin of all the Salmon. So it is true what they say...the best way to identify a keeper is by checkin' out the ass

Save up your money and be sure to only buy T-1 Spinnerbaits from Terminator lures. No I'm not sponsored by them or anything You can literally catch hundreds of fish and they won't bend out of shape or break apart. There is nothing better on the market in my opinion. http://terminatorlures.com/ Tony P.S. There may be other companies that have caught on to using 'Titanium' wire instead of the old steel wire. The key is quality, make sure to buy baits that use ball-bearing swivels to attach the blade. Another thing to look for is, the eye where you tie your line to, should not be twisted closed to form an eyelet, you want to tie direct to your spinnerbaits.

So Brunswick Marine owns Mercury and Lund right? Why is it that I can put a Honda on the back of a Lund? Does Brunswick also own Honda? Tony

Tip-up, I can order the net online and save money too, but I didn't plan ahead, and I need it this weekend. Just too bad out of 3 tackle stores including Burns that none of them had anything decent in terms of a landing net. None of them carried the Mepps Musky Marabou Bucktail either, which I thought was a pretty popular musky lure... Burns had some GrimReaper bucktails in the right colour (Black/Orange), but with Willow blades. I prefer the Colorado blades for 'bulging' bucktails and just for there flash/vibration properties in general. I understand the problems of cashflow and stocking everything for everybody, but these 2 items are pretty basic...And every time I go to a tackle store for something in particular they are just out, or don't carry it, it's becoming a trend. The last time was Size 1 and 2 ball bearing swivels. Time before that was #6 Panther Martin spinner (silver blade/yellow body) and Size 8 single hooks. Another time they had no mono line in 6lb test, NONE!...just sad. Tony

Thanks guys, I think I will be making some phone calls, i've done too much driving around lately looking for the stupid net
-
Yup...Cheap tackle!!! $6.99 for these babies! at Cabelas.com I just paid $9.99 for one at a local tackle shop, plus gas money and tax Tony

I have the worst luck when looking to buy specific products in tackle shops. I have been to 3 different local tackle shops over the past 2 days and even a Canadian Tire looking for a quality landing net for Walleye/Pike/Bass... My criteria was a quality rubber coated, knotless mesh landing net with a 36-48" handle. Do you think I could find one?! NOPE Do that many people buy the crumby blue/green nylon mesh nets with flimsy handles? Might have to stop at Basspro on the way up north, but they don't open until 9am Oh yeah almost forgot, nobody seems to carry the Mepps Musky Marabou bucktail spinner in Orange/Black either!? I should have known I'd be let down again by the local tackle stores. However, it's hard to pre-order stuff that is big and bulky online like a net, and you always need last minute stuff after organizing for a fishing trip. Frustrated... Tony

Line counter is important, you have chosen wisely!
