  1. IMPORTANT CHANGE FOR TOMORROWS CLEANUP! Due to the Petro Canada Park being closed for the season, the new meeting spot is at the rear parking lot (all the way to the back) of the Oakville Church of the Nazarene. The Church is located just south of the Petro Canada Park entrance... Here is a map: Sorry for the last minute notice, but I didn't realize the park would close with the mild weather we have been having. The city has agreed to collect the bags of trash, we just have to collect them in the corner of the parking lot like before See you all tomorrow! Tony
  2. Ok, nevermind, just talk to Louis haha! a great wealth of knowledge he is offering
  3. There is cash up for grabs from the Government for projects to plant trees, stream bank stabilization, etc. This should help get you started: http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/fishing/cfwip.html Good for you for taking an active role in improving habitat for wildlife and fish! Tony
  4. Can you take me fishing this Sunday? There are no steelhead around here Tony
  5. Great simple article! I managed to get one 'eye from shore on a suspending minnow bait. Rather than a slow steady retrieve though, it took the bait on a stop & go retrieve. Tony
  6. Congrats! So now we know who to consult with for our boating safety needs Tony
  7. Oh... for a second there I though it was going to be on the newly created holiday in February - Family Day (Feb 18th). They should co-incide that holiday with the License-Free fishing weekend which is the following weekend... The Feb 23rd weekend is the license-free weekend, so there is no excuse for everyone to not drag anyone they know out onto the ice to support the cause I think this year I WON'T try walking across to the other side of the lake Tony
  8. Very nice...and outfished Lew on Musky to boot! (That has to be some kind of record no?) Gotta love how the windshield keeps all that spray off of you and the gear...such a sweet ride Wayne Some great results on a pretty crumby day, weather-wise, nice fish! Tony
  9. For the truck...right Roy?
  10. Thanks Doug...working with the City of Oakville right now...they have recently closed the gate at the top of the hill so I am trying to get it opened for Saturday. Otherwise, keep an eye out for a location change. Sorry about the last minute change, but with the warm weather we have been having I didn't think they would be closing the park so soon... Stay tuned! and I'll update the sticky if there are any changes. I'm hoping they can accomodate the gate issue... Tony
  11. I thought those reels were computer controlled to NOT birdsnest! lol Looking forward to the humour angle that seems to be missing from a lot of shows these days. Tony
  12. I actually just bought the Guidewear Dry Plus breathables, they are very well put together. Haven't tested them out yet though... Tony
  13. I'd go 5mm Neoprene if you were cold in the water now...wait until December Check out BARE Waders, the last pair I had lasted over 10 years. Tony
  14. Thanks for those who have committed to helping out so far. Hopefully more show up on Saturday. Looks like 3 volunteers out of over 500 views, not too bad at all Tony
  15. 200 - 250 ft for the lure, another 200-250 for the outside boards
  16. I think they have some comparable models to the Mr. Pike now. Check out the Fisherman series and the Sport Angler, a step down from the Pro-V but still pricey I think... Tony
  17. For sure...if you have that much money...not many people have $40K sitting in the bank for a vehicle purchase. The best way to tell you are getting soaked (even if they say it's 0% financing) is to look at the Cash purchase price versus financing. It is usually several thousand dollars cheaper paying by cash. So the cost of borrowing is already built into the price when you think you are getting it financed for 0% it is more like 4 to 5%... Tony
  18. Practice, practice and more practice Check out this fine resource... http://www.questoutdoors.net/skills/centerpin/ Tony
  19. Smaller than average size and slow fishing for this time of year. I'd wait til December for the big girls and possibly better numbers. Tony
  20. Mix garbage, peeing in the snow, and noisy quads/sleds in the wee morning hours on weekends and presto you've got another recipe for a closed access point. There will be more closures and they will stretch further and further out from the radius of the GTA...
  21. Giant Yellowfin Tuna (over 300lbs & 2hr + fights) in Mexico or Huge Marlin over 1000lbs (Want to top my 350lb'er ) http://www.primetimeadv.com looks to be one of the better bets (And he's Canadian to boot, eh) Tony
  22. There are places to go with less traffic...you just gotta do a little exploring 007. Tony
  23. Some sweet fish!!! you guys certainly had your work cut out for you... And who said fishing was easy? Way to go guys Tony
  24. If the boat is new, you'll get the best price by pairing it with a Mercury 4-stroke or 2-stroke...but I'd go with a 4-stroke if it is your primary and only engine. Tony
  25. I think Chris Rock said it best we don't need Gun Control we need Bullet control. If a bullet cost $10,000 no one would get shot unless they REALLY deserved it (not to mention innocent by-standers getting shot). He must a done something bad they put $50,000 worth of bullets in his ass!
