  1. Absolutely, I will get in touch with the membership co-ordinator to see what I need to get you all set up.
  2. Do you have the charcoal media in your filter? A fresh one would probably work wonders. Tony
  3. Yeah I agree, I don't think the intent was to blur backgrounds but probably just wanted to hide himself. Either way, I guess what you are looking for is... 'Nice fish man!' Tony
  4. Hmm...you sure you didn't just find someone else's digital camera with pictures on it and post those? Some very clean looking fish, good work. Tony
  5. Thanks for the detailed map c-s
  6. That's great! Nothing like following through on a renewed interest and especially having success. Great story...so when is dinner? Tony
  7. Agreed CB, but aside from the recent strong dollar, prices are still WAY more than what can be had from the U.S. Example: I wanted to purchase 2 Shimano 4500 Baitrunners for Carp fishing earlier this year (4 months ago). Price at local tackle shop $179 each - Price in U.S. $109 each. No dollar difference in history can match a $70 difference for the exact same product Cleary something isn't right. Same with the Rapala example I gave in my last thread $5.99 in U.S. - $9.99 at local tackle shop... I agree about the service comment, but 99% of the time I know exactly what I want to buy and 50% or more of the time when I drive to the local tackle shop they are out of stock on the things I want or are awaiting their next bulk shipment. They can have the best customer service in the world, but what good is it if they don't stock the product that I specifically went there for? Brick & Mortar businesses are great, but they need to embrace and adapt to the efficiency of the Internet business model at the same time. Offer your service and local knowledge as a bonus, but compete with other businesses for our hard earned dollars. All that service and local knowledge is useless if your buyers refuse to enter your doors because they can buy a new rod or reel with the savings they can achieve by doing business over the border. It would be great to hear from tackle retailers on this. Are you guys being had by Canadian tackle distributors or what?! Tony
  8. Just order online...save the gas and border delays. For example, using Cabelas. I Just ordered 10 J-9 Rapala's for $52.90 (Regular $5.99 each but save $.70 each if you order 10 or more) Add on their shipping rate from the chart below... Order Amount Standard Express $0 - $25.00 $4.95 $25.01 - $50.00 $7.95 $50.01 - $75.00 $8.95 $75.01 - $100.00 $10.95 $100.01 - $150.00 $12.95 $150.01 - $200.00 $13.95 $200.01 - $250.00 $14.95 Over $250.00 $16.95 $52.90 + $8.95 = $61.85 That works out to $6.19 each Rapala - DELIVERED TO MY DOORSTEP! Why the *bleep* is it $9.99 + Tax for a single J-9 Rapala at any local tackle shop around here??? Even better...I also ordered a new pair of breathable chest waders and studded felt sole boots at half the cost I would have paid here... The local shops complain about lack of business and support, is it any wonder? Tony
  9. The fact is, if he is not in his TREATY AREA he was fishing illegally. The problem lies in the vague definitions of treaty areas for each native band. I am a status indian and have played the game with the MNR one time to see what would happen...I was stopped at an access point on Lake Simcoe and was asked for my fishing license (which I always have anyway) and instead I handed him my status card. He said, 'oh that's great but I know where your treaty area is and you aren't within that range, hope you have a fishing license' At which point I handed it over and all was well. I asked him how to find out where I could find a map of the treaty areas and he didn't seem to know of a public resource, but he was familiar with the particular band I am a member of and knew it's territory was Manitoulin Island. This is the best online resource I could find, if anyone is interested. http://www.aboriginalcanada.gc.ca/acp/site...en/ao20200.html As always, best to let the authorities deal with people that claim they have a right to be fishing somewhere that doesn't appear to be legal. Tony
  10. It's that time of year again, and we need your help. Please bring your friends and family out on Saturday November 3rd from 12pm-2pm at The Oakville Church of the Nazarene (rear parking lot). I'll be providing gloves and garbage bags as well as refreshments afterwards for volunteers. It is a short work project to pick up garbage that is left along the banks of Bronte creek by anglers. Help us protect our natural resources and shore access points for fishing by helping out. Everyone who attends will help a great deal! Directions from QEW: take Bronte Road cut-off between Burloak and Third Line. Go south on Bronte Road. Before Rebecca Street will be the entrance to the Church on the west side. Proceed to the rear of the parking lot and we will meet there and then walk down the path to the creek. This is part of an ongoing joint effort (Credit River Anglers Association, Trout Unlimited, Conservation Halton) to restore and preserve the Bronte Creek watershed. I know picking up garbage doesn't seem like fun or that it helps, but it goes a long way with showing the public that all anglers aren't littering the waterways. We hope to see you all there! Here is a map: Thanks, Tony P.S. I'll hopefully be fishing before and possibly after the clean-up so for any of you who are thinking about fishing Bronte we could meet up in the morning before the clean-up
  11. I gotta get out of the rut of fishing the local tribs and hit the road to find fish... Well done man! Tony
  12. http://www.cabelas.com Better prices, selection, and stock than ANY tackle store in Ontario. Best part is you don't have to leave your house. Tony P.S. Not spam, I'd be pleasantly surprised to find a store that could compete directly with Cabelas, it just doesn't exist at this time. Not even to mention the great strong CAN$ goes a lot further in the U.S. If someone could prove me wrong, please DO!
  13. Great fishing Mike! It is that wonderful time of year again... The water had a perfect J-9 tinge Tony
  14. I was totally expecting to see a Pickerel!! Congrats man! Tony
  15. Maybe they should start building quality vehicles?...Toyota, Nissan, Honda are all thirsty for our business and it shows in their quality.
  16. Wow, it must have come from Georgian bay, up the French, across Nipissing and then up to Sturgeon Falls....at least 100KM by water I would think. Amazing...
  17. They were actually swimming/jumping away from this... ZAP!
  18. For anyone looking at getting an entry level float reel, the Aventa gets the job done. I actually personally use the Aventa and have caught many fish on it, despite being frowned upon by the centre-pin 'elitists' as it's not a $500-$1000 reel... Okuma Aventa $139 Tony
  19. Time to upgrade to the CSX Goran Tony
  20. Some very respectable fish there! I think it is safe to say you have Simcoe dialed in, Perch, Bass, Lakers or Whitey's you get 'em all. Did you have to fizz any of the smallies coming out of deep water Greg? If so, what do you find is the best tool for that? Tony
  21. I'm with you jedimaster, I'll be watching and whining but that's what being a Leafs fan is all about. One of these years, they'll win the Cup and I can say I've stuck with my team through it all. None of this bangwagon hopping nonsense Tony
  22. Squid, I updated my original post to explain why I was recommending Frank, didn't want it to sound like advertising.
  23. I second hiring a guide for the Lower Niagara river for Trout (Rainbow, Brown, Lake) The Musky thing is cool too, but you'll get WAY more numbers of fish if you are targeting trout (up to 30 in a day) I highly recommend this guide as I know that Aaron Shirley had his choice of guides to refer clients to when he quit his guiding business, and Frank at Niagara Sportifishing got the nod. If anyone knows about anglers on the Niagara you have likely heard of Frank or Aaron. Niagara Sportfishing Your guy is definately lucky to have someone so understanding about his addiction Tony
  24. Aaron is probably going to kill me for posting this, but it fits well with this thread Musky lures apparently work well for Steelies
