  4. Alright. We went out last Sunday... Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing. This morning nobody had worms and couldn't find any around town. so today was a bust also
  5. Thanks Rick. I forwarded the link to a bunch of boys.
  6. Much appreciated. Me and the boys are gonna try it on Sunday. It looks like the only dry day to be out. Yes we leave the dead baits for pike starting with one hole in 40ft range one in 30 then 20 and adjust accordingly, and fish for perch with the pinheads. I usually see what i believe might be suckers over the bridge when we hit the inlaws come spring time, gonna start there or look deeper? ie mud flats???
  7. Hi all. Me and some guys at work were talking about the up coming ice season. One buddy asks should we go try and sucker fish for bait later on. We are very familiar with the regulations and stuff and wont be transporting live or transferring from location to another. That said, none of us have never targeted that species. So our big question for the all knowing members here is, would it be worth our while this time of year to try and catch some? plus we don't have a clue as what bait to use. We all recounted the days of fishing with corn as kids but that's as close as we came to a bait decision. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Colin
  8. I have a new to me boat and trailer. Trailer is almost fixed and I would like to borrow a troling motor for this weekend if possible. I just want to make sure she floats good. I do have one but its 3hrs north of here. I will not abuse it. I only want to use it for 2hrs or so. I live in Cambridge so close by pls. Cheers Colin
  9. Keeping it simple.
  10. Sun seeker Diesel is what the in laws have. He had a gas engine, and traded it in after a year for diesel. You get twice as much mileage from it. Also get a car carrier. If you need to get groceries or go to the beer store, You don't have tear down everything. Best of all in case of emergency hospital visit or dr appointments just jump in the Smart car and go. They got one and said its the best toy for running errands in. Smart car to go into town and motor home for long distances.
  11. Couldn't agree more
  12. Congratulations. Best of health to all
  13. The biggest no. However for you really hard core guys...I have the " Canadian record " officially from Ralph.. Wish master big baits.. A 31 inch on a 24 inch Wishmaster. From what I hear, a gentleman from Pennsylvania holds the " world record " 30 inch on the same 24 inch Jailbird. Ralph's been gone for some time now and took his craft with him. Lets raise a glass. Cheers Colin
  14. fishing from shore or boat?
  15. I saw you said "fish" did you mean snake? If its plugged or the pump isnt working you can change the pump by yourself. give me a quick description what its doing.. or not
  16. I usually just break the bolts off.
  17. Ive only used wire strippers for installing new rings or hook replacement. The ends of the strippers are fine enough to get into the grooves, a quick turn of the wrist and the hook or split rings slide right out
  18. Hi all. I'm online looking at options for next year. The wife has been dying to go to the 1000 islands for some time now. However I seem to be getting the same 3 websites / rentals keep popping up. Of course my question is has anybody dealt with or had experience renting a houseboat in the area? I know how to read topo and chart maps, and am experienced around islands and big water. eg.. getting a 53 ft Crist craft through the moon river to GB, up to Sudbury and return. That said the St. Lawrence is new to me. I am bringing my 2 daughters as well so multiple stops and site seeing will be mandatory. Again if anybody has some dealings please let me know. PM if you wish. I'm not opposed to helpful out of the way mooring spots, swimming or fishing areas. The kids love perch fishing. (as do I) And as they are getting older now, the big fish syndrome is kicking in. Appreciate any advice Colin
