  1. Thanks boys. I have Williams spoons and bad boy jigs.
  2. Hey gang. I want to ask a favor. I have been heading to Simcoe now for the last I don't know how long, once to possibly twice a year. and mainly hit a outfitter for perch. That said, " Santa " ( the kids ) dropped me off a Rapala fat shack and I would like to expand my knowledge to Lakers and Whitefish. The longest rod I have is a 34 inch med/heavy, several 30 in, and two 24 in ultra light. Oh, and 2 tip ups. I figure im OK that way however im not sure where to set up or bait to bring. ( minnows / tube jigs ) Probably the biggest downfall is I have no flasher or fish finder. I don't want to be held by the hand, but pointed in the right direction for gear ect. Now Im gonna be a bit shy and say if anybody has room for a tag along, you wont be disappointed. I Referee hockey also so I have to play it by ear weekend to weekend. Thanks for any and all information, Colin
  3. Ya, I see what your getting at. Not sure.
  4. AAAArgh. You guys are killing me. I so want a bowl of chili right now.
  5. Hi all. I was out on Bellwood lake today. I would of put us on the board but diddnt take a tape measure. Only around a 2ft snot rocket but still. We got about 5 total. one had to come home as he took the hook to deep and was bleeding like a stuck pig. I gotta get my wife to down load pictures next time. Colin. p.s. we need a team name. ( im not good at making stuff up)
  6. Just read my post. Not 3 pairs, but 3 were circling the couple times i passed by
  7. We have a nesting pair for the last 5 yrs now at Bluffers park in Cambridge. Last spring when the die off happened on Pushlinch lake, I can attest to the possibility of 3 hanging around the lake.
  8. I can only attest to the smelting. 2 of my uncles would " kidnap " me, as I always showed a love for the sport, and young enough ( 9yrs to13 ish then hockey got in the way ) that a fire, hot dogs and pop would keep me going all night long. I would have the nets at the ready, with other fishermen awaiting also. When the run came it was an awesome experience. I was told years later that " the young boy gets the first throw. " Alas I cannot show my girls or nephews the same experience. Thinking back now, I don't really remember cleaning a lot of them either. I do remember wakening up when we got home though.
  9. Personally, I cant remember ever catching a crappie after dark. I set up a lot with a teardrop and maggot 2 ft below the ice just before dark.
  10. My recipe is fillet it. leave the skin on. This may sound stupid, but 3 drops of lime spaced out per fillet, a light dusting of cayenne pepper, pinch of onion salt. Tent in tinfoil, bbq 400F on top rack 20 min.
  11. Yes that was a good show. some see problems, some see solutions. that I say with a broken sled
  12. Thanks guys. I wasn't thinking until next weekend at the earliest
  13. Anybody have a lead on the conditions that way? I hear out of Belleville some huts are out? I don't want to drive 4hrs for just a look. Thanks Colin
  14. Nope. Wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
  15. I hear ya. We need a new tinny for the cottage, The transom is done on the old girl up there.
  16. Not like that. but I do have a OLD baitcaster on my jigging rod.
  17. Man those are beauties. Hope they keep coming.
  18. I'm a believer of... if it ain't broke don't fix it. ( personal opinion )
  19. Thanks all, but I'm just looking for someone to enjoy it. My " rookie ice fishing pal's " of 10 yrs, don't go ice fishing without me. And my " experienced ice fishing pals " of 10 - 12 yrs all have their Clams and Frabill pull along's. Sooooooooooooo, on one hand I have boys that have all the stuff and on the other, the boys that don't want the bother. I couldn't think of a better place to say here and enjoy. On another note, I have been seeing the fishing for Tyler posts. How much is it to enter? I know my girls would enjoy it. Running around the ice and building mini snow men that is
