Another great show .. hard to believe those rattle raps actually work .. I have NEVER caught anything on mine .. gonna have to dig them out and give em another go
Perch, walleye, bass, catfish (under 2lbs), crappie in no particular order...nothing better then a fresh fish fry which is why I always bring a camp stove with me ... not a big fan of trout or salmon or saltwater fish
Way to go TEAM EXTREME ..we took the lead from the start and never looked back (well maybe a glance every ounce in a while) ... GREAT job Cliff on being the winning Cap and lookin after all the entries.... it would be nice to keep the teams together for next year to defend our CHAMPIONSHIP (hint, hint) ... looking forward to next years tourney
Was planing on heading out to St Claire for some muskies after work last night but after hearing they are going to get one heck of a storm I decided to go to Barrie for perch instead .. got there late (about 1:30) after sitting in traffic for a while (400 down to one lane past hwy 88) .. first 2 hours didnt get a bite .. there was a few (5) Loons swimming around feasting on the perch so they were spooked out of their normal spots .. after they left it was non stop bites till it got dark .. manage to bring home 40 keepers .. biggest being 13.5" ...
downfall to the day is I didnt have any heat (enough to keep the windsheild thawed at least) in my van on the way home .. the temp gauge didnt go up so I am hoping its just the thermostat ... if it is I am going to hit Picton on Sunday .. if its not ... it will be work on the van weekend
I would say you are too close to the front .. think of it like a kite .. if the kite rope was in the front it wouldnt fly .. put the rope in the middle and it lifts almost straight up .. I would move the pull screw a few inches back
speed up a little if you don't get hits at slow speeds .. got them last year early Dec at 3-3.5 mph (of course we trolled for hours at under 2 before we sped up)
headed down to the grand this morning ... was a tough bite .. a few guys managed a few eyes .. I lost a bow that decided it wanted my jig .. funniest thing I have ever seen at the dam .. a couple guys show up .. not there 2 minutes one guy spots a tail moving on top of the water .. he slowly creeps up to the edge of water with net in hand .. scoop ... he got it .. his exitement turned to shock when he realized it was on someones stringer .. what are these people thinking .. they were obviously there to net the trout jumping the dam .. net with a 8' handle .. his friend later asks if he is allowed to net fish .. I told him he would be in big dodo if he did(if not from the ministry the other fisherman around would probably have something to say about it).. if someone netted my fish on a stringer I think that net would be at the bottom of the river and (we will stop there) ... hopefully back down next week
Well it looks like simcoe takes it .. now on where to go .. does anyone know if they are getting perch around the Tiffin st launch or should I try cooks bay .. only really fished Simcoe in the winter on cooks bay.. fished a few years back off shore by the tiffin st launch but that was a little later in the year .. thanks
I have next weekend off and am going to take my son fishing .. cant decide where to go .. its between Barrie for perch, Dunnville for eyes (skunked there today), Picton for eyes, and St Claire for musky's .. where would you go??
Darn .. I seen a few guys fishing in there when I trolled by a couple times (got skunked by the way ) .. gonna have to bring some ultralight gear next weekend
when I used to fish salmon (cant stand the rivers anymore) Rebbeca was always the place to get the close to "silver" salmon .. they haven't hit the rapids yet
I was planning a trip to Quinte and asked a guy at work what sites his dad gets his info from .. he gave me this one and quintefishing.com .. found this site way better
Looks like a great day on the water again
dont worry Cliff .. we will get a bigger musky before the year is out .. I still have a few trips out to Lk St Claire this fall
dont worry about the clips .. after trolling for a while speed up to about 5mph for just a few seconds .. if there is a fish on it will pop
Nice fish by the way .. I havent got out into the big lake for eyes yet this year ... hopefully soon though
