  6. Algonquin for 10 days in July .. hoping to make it out to Temagami area for 4 days for some fishing around mid Aug .. I used to canoe through there and want to take my son out for some "wilderness" camping
  7. I have only seen his show once and it was by far the worst show I have seen .. I am sure he knows someone in high places at WFN .. its the only thing I can come up with since he is still on
  8. pay the extra little now now and the gas money saved will make up the difference fairly quick .. I bought a four stroke a couple years back and its quieter and way more fuel efficent .. plus no mixing oil
  9. might want to wait till March 1st for that .. season for netting doesnt open till then (page 11 of the regs)
  10. Ive caught a few of those tagged eyes form Wheatly in the grand .. good to see they are still making the trek
  11. they fall under "baitfish" .. you can catch them by fishing for them, netting or trapping them .. I am not sure about bow and arrow though .. I thought that was only carp .. dont have a regs book handy to find out for sure .. as for there uses you can cut them up to catch catfish (leave them out in the sun for a few days to get them good and stinky) or use the smaller ones for pike/muskie
  12. whoo hoo .. grabbed a beer and I was singed in already
  13. I was thinking the same thing
  14. Hahaha .. at least I am not the only one .. its great driving home in this lovely weather without the plows or salters hitting the highways yet .. at least there isnt any traffic
  15. I havent used my tipup in a while but plan on it next week for those pike that keep biting my line off ... I am going to cut a piece of 1" foam to cover the hole and cut a slit in it to fit the tipup shaft .. it should work ... hopefully the fish will cooperate
  16. thanks for the info .. might just hit Gilford with everyone else in the morning ... not liking the freezing rain forecast for the afternoon though
  17. Thinking of heading out Sunday morning for some perch .. normally hit cooks but would like to try around Barrie docks (not as far to walk) .. anyone know if the ice is ok there .. I have herd there are some warm water outlets in the area .. thanks
  18. Watch the show on Sat morning ... was a my cousins for new years and watched it on WFN .. .I will be picking up a few
  19. original my fav for fish .. dont use egg or milk ....just coat the wet fillets ... i also like the beer batter for onion rings
  20. I believe he meant minnows small enough for perch bait not actually baby perch .. you are allowed to use perch as bait but only in certain water bodies
  21. cover them with pickling salt .. lay out to dry .. either a coffee tin with holes punched in the bottom or some mosquito mesh will do .. dry for a couple days... flip over and repeat .. bag em up and freeze them
  22. Decided to go to Bronte Outdoors this morning instead of Bass Pro .. picked up 4 reels .. great deal .. plus no tax
  23. Just got home from work a half hour ago .. the 403 from Brantford to Hamilton is a mess .. QEW wasnt much better .. the plows are stopped at Walkers ... one of em decided to plow the ditch on the onramp
  24. Whoo Hooo ... I won something ... keep up the good work Dave .. I just got a couple shirts in the mail that I had ordered last week ... my son is gonna love the autographed picture (Facts of Fishing is the only fishing show he will watch) ... Thanks for the Christmas gift
  25. I believe there is only an exception for guides (its their job and not "recreation" ... but I could be wrong)
