  1. NO , I'm already looking forward to next spring
  2. Yeah, my dad grew up in Saskatchewan and he told me the same stuff, that you don't feel it as much cause it's dry. I told him -45 is stupid cold no matter how wet or dry it is
  3. Just curious Dave but have you any idea how may bags you'd go through in a typical 24 hours with that pellet stove in the new cabin.
  4. I've never had anything stolen and consider myself lucky because of that but like you say Dan we just try to make things less attractive to the punks. My daughter came out to her car to go to work a few months back and found her personalized license plates stolen.
  5. Self explanatory My brother and I about a 1000 years ago My kids, Jim & Sheri Wife Diane on Nippissing My best little buddy Marvin
  6. Art, if you guys feel you need to have guns everywhere you go , whether driving in your car, walking into a restaurant or going fishing, that's fine, but what bugs so many Canadians is when Americans tell us were wrong or foolish for not living the same way. I remember reading on one of the American websites...maybe BBC...where a restaurant was no longer going to allow customers to bring their guns in with them. These guys thought that was terrible and several of them said they'd no longer go into any restaurant un-armed. I've said it before and even talked with you about it when we were fishing, but I honestly wouldn't want to live in a country where I was so afraid that I couldn't go out without my gun with me. Not meaning this as slam against you or any of my other American friends, but Canadians & Americans live in 2 totally different worlds and to be honest, I much prefer my world. Feeling I need to carry a gun with me for protection when I go fishing is just so foreign to my mind I can't even get my brain around it.
  7. Considering how well you build houses Dave I'd bet $$$$ your measurements were right on.
  8. Just got in from my daily 3 mile hike and found this laying on the road. Didn't see any trailers in the ditch so hopefully he got to his destination safely.
  9. I'm not a big fan of winter but when it's 20 below & snowin & blowin outside it sure is nice to have that fire crackling downstairs in the family room.
  10. He didn't fish for bass Brian cause he already had enough bait
  11. Sounds like a good day Roger.
  12. And so do the rest of us Rick
  13. JoePa, it always makes me shake my head when I hear an American criticizing the gun laws from other countries. You guys live in one of the most violent countries on earth and hardly a day goes by we don't hear on the news up here about another mass shooting. You've murdered several of your presidents and shot a few others, you murdered Bobby Kennedy after you killed his brother, you shot George Wallace and murdered Martin Luther King. You have wackos constantly killing kids in schools, in movie theaters and walking down the street. Just last week they caught someone in Arizona trying to kill people driving down the roads. You had those cowards blow up the building years ago in Oklahoma and killed about 160 people. Several innocent people were murdered and a whole bunch more badly injured when one of your countrymen set off a bomb at the Boston Marathon. There was an army major awhile back shot a bunch of soldiers on an army base. Jeez, you guys even murdered John Lennon You said yourself earlier you even have a gun with you when you go fishing. If I was that afraid of my fellow Americans I'd give up fishing. I could go on and on about the insane murder rate you guys have down there but I guess I've made my point. I've got a bunch of very good friends from the States and I'm not trying to single anyone out, but as I said above, there's nothing worse than listening to people like you criticize the gun laws in Canada. And just for comparison, Toronto has close to 3 million people yet the murder rate is somewhere around 60 people per year. Can you name one large city in the States that's even close to only 60 murders a year ?? Maybe worry about your own gun rules before you complain about ours.
  14. Any pictures of that brute Mike ??
  15. Pretty sad that we have to think this way isn't it. Lock on the hitch pin, lock on the receiver, lock on the spare tire, locks on the trailer wheels, lock on the stainless prop plus whatever else. Yup, pretty sad indeed.
  16. That's great Mike, let's set something up for next year.
  17. Thanks Mike, is that the place east of the marina ?
  18. I've thought about it Mike but the B&B I always stayed at is shut down now because of illness and I can't find anywhere else in the area to stay at. There was that big truck stop / restaurant that I stayed in before but that's gone now too. I remember there was a motel not far from you but you said it could be bad spot.
  19. Slightly off topic, but 15 years ago my bud and I went out one evening to cast for musky. Nice little 2 acre bay we usually did well in with some lily pads, bull rushes, pencil reeds and rocky points on either side. We'd only been there a short time when a guy pulls up to us in a camouflaged boat and told us we had to leave the area RIGHT NOW because he wanted to back up against the rushes and shoot the ducks that came in and they'd be scared off with us being there. He didn't ask if we'd do him the favor by leaving, but rather ordered us out of "his" spot. I told him if he'd have asked us we'd have gladly moved on but because he ordered us out we now had no intention of leaving and continued to cast even though we'd already covered the bay. He sat in his boat watching the ducks fly past us and finally left as the sun set and then grumbled to us about being in-considerate morons. I told him to have a nice evening and hopefully his next time out brings him better luck.
  20. I'm kinda surprised too Mike, I thought for sure there'd be more folks interested in joining you for a day. Mikes a fun guy to fish with and definitely knows his way around the local waters. Him and I hooked up for 2 days a couple years back and had a blast, boated a few muskies and just generally had a great time. Take Mike up on his offer and you too may just hook in to one of the legendary 2 tone St. Lawrence River muskies Or even one of their smaller cousins
  21. Excellent picture Bill, really nice. We had a good view of the 1st 30 minutes or so then the clouds moved in.
  22. That's a good idea too fisher and perhaps I'll do it.
  23. In 2005 I bought a new Safari van that came with Michelin LTX tires. Very next day after taking delivery I had a 2" drywall screw go thru the sidewall. I called the dealership assuming it had a road hazard warranty on the tires and was told "Nope, every things covered 'cept that". They gave me a discount on a new tire but their expensive and it still cost me a lot. Pretty sad considering they only had a few miles on them.
  24. Just goes to show you don't need a big $$$$ boat to catch a fish Congrats to your family Rick, that's outstanding !!
  25. Thanks Roy and good to hear everything worked out well.
