  1. My wife worked for the Ontario Government for 20 years down at Queens Park and they had their own in-house newspaper. I believe it was back in the Bob Rae days when there was an advertisement for employment with the add-on that "whites need not apply" If Diane hadn't brought the paper home for me to see with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed. Lousy that these things happen but I spose it's been going on for years and will probably continue. Hope things work out for you up there mr. b
  2. My grandparents (Dads folks) had a waterfront home in the n/w corner of Simcoe and were both VERY avid fishermen and fished practically every day including ice fishing in the winter. This picture is probably from the late 60's and is just a typical fish that they got on a regular basis. I was lucky and they both lived till nearly 90 and I spent many many years fishing with them. My mom's family were all from Killaloe and they were all deer hunters and my dad, myself and my brother joined them for years. Here's a picture of them back in the day with the old barn we lived in while hunting just outside of Algonquin Park from the 50's That's my dad on your left
  3. Thanks Dave, doesn't sound too bad at all.

  6. Shane, up on Nippissing I have my best musky fishing with an easterly wind and hope for it every day I head out.

  8. Someone suggested maybe this moron collects personalized plates but who knows what goes through the minds of these lowlifes davey.
  9. NO , I'm already looking forward to next spring
  10. Yeah, my dad grew up in Saskatchewan and he told me the same stuff, that you don't feel it as much cause it's dry. I told him -45 is stupid cold no matter how wet or dry it is
  11. Just curious Dave but have you any idea how may bags you'd go through in a typical 24 hours with that pellet stove in the new cabin.
  12. I've never had anything stolen and consider myself lucky because of that but like you say Dan we just try to make things less attractive to the punks. My daughter came out to her car to go to work a few months back and found her personalized license plates stolen.
  13. Self explanatory My brother and I about a 1000 years ago My kids, Jim & Sheri Wife Diane on Nippissing My best little buddy Marvin
  14. Art, if you guys feel you need to have guns everywhere you go , whether driving in your car, walking into a restaurant or going fishing, that's fine, but what bugs so many Canadians is when Americans tell us were wrong or foolish for not living the same way. I remember reading on one of the American websites...maybe BBC...where a restaurant was no longer going to allow customers to bring their guns in with them. These guys thought that was terrible and several of them said they'd no longer go into any restaurant un-armed. I've said it before and even talked with you about it when we were fishing, but I honestly wouldn't want to live in a country where I was so afraid that I couldn't go out without my gun with me. Not meaning this as slam against you or any of my other American friends, but Canadians & Americans live in 2 totally different worlds and to be honest, I much prefer my world. Feeling I need to carry a gun with me for protection when I go fishing is just so foreign to my mind I can't even get my brain around it.
  15. Considering how well you build houses Dave I'd bet $$$$ your measurements were right on.
  16. Just got in from my daily 3 mile hike and found this laying on the road. Didn't see any trailers in the ditch so hopefully he got to his destination safely.
  17. I'm not a big fan of winter but when it's 20 below & snowin & blowin outside it sure is nice to have that fire crackling downstairs in the family room.
  18. He didn't fish for bass Brian cause he already had enough bait
  19. Sounds like a good day Roger.
  20. And so do the rest of us Rick
  21. JoePa, it always makes me shake my head when I hear an American criticizing the gun laws from other countries. You guys live in one of the most violent countries on earth and hardly a day goes by we don't hear on the news up here about another mass shooting. You've murdered several of your presidents and shot a few others, you murdered Bobby Kennedy after you killed his brother, you shot George Wallace and murdered Martin Luther King. You have wackos constantly killing kids in schools, in movie theaters and walking down the street. Just last week they caught someone in Arizona trying to kill people driving down the roads. You had those cowards blow up the building years ago in Oklahoma and killed about 160 people. Several innocent people were murdered and a whole bunch more badly injured when one of your countrymen set off a bomb at the Boston Marathon. There was an army major awhile back shot a bunch of soldiers on an army base. Jeez, you guys even murdered John Lennon You said yourself earlier you even have a gun with you when you go fishing. If I was that afraid of my fellow Americans I'd give up fishing. I could go on and on about the insane murder rate you guys have down there but I guess I've made my point. I've got a bunch of very good friends from the States and I'm not trying to single anyone out, but as I said above, there's nothing worse than listening to people like you criticize the gun laws in Canada. And just for comparison, Toronto has close to 3 million people yet the murder rate is somewhere around 60 people per year. Can you name one large city in the States that's even close to only 60 murders a year ?? Maybe worry about your own gun rules before you complain about ours.
  22. Any pictures of that brute Mike ??
  23. Pretty sad that we have to think this way isn't it. Lock on the hitch pin, lock on the receiver, lock on the spare tire, locks on the trailer wheels, lock on the stainless prop plus whatever else. Yup, pretty sad indeed.
  24. That's great Mike, let's set something up for next year.
  25. Thanks Mike, is that the place east of the marina ?
