That's definetely good news Rich, and it'll be good to finally meet you after all this time. There'll be a bunch of the regular pickeral experts up there and they be able to steer you in the right direction and let you know what the hot baits are. I'll be arriving on the morning of the 19th myself......see ya then.

Just once it'd be nice to see someone post a picture of a huge musky without all the "experts" picking it apart. No wonder so many folks don't post their pics anymore.....me included.

Rich, it'd be great if you could join us this year and guaranteed you'll have an excellent time and meet some wondeful people. You wouldn't be the 1st or last person to sleep in your truck, and there's a great restaurant right in the camp only 100 yards away for your meals, and ice is always available for your cooler. Kevin has excellent cedar strip boats and motors available for rent, or you may even be able to share a boat with another OFNer who's travelling alone, which is often the case. Perhaps post a direct question here as far as sharing boats and expenses and you should be able to come up with something. There may even be someone with an extra spot in a cabin you could share. Pike and pickeral are very plentiful in June, but the muskies are more difficult to find that time of year. You definetely want to make this trip though if at all possible.

I have no interest in ice fishing either, infact I just sold all my ice fishing gear this weekend, but I have no problem getting outta bed on a cold, snowy December morning and sitting in a boat on the open water all day looking for a late season musky .......sorta the same thing.......isn't it ??

Stan, your not hijacking my thread at all, infact i think it's great when we can help each other save a few $$$$ This was actually my 1st Internet purchase from anywhere so I really can't offer you much. My purchase came by UPS ground transportation about 4 days earlier than promised, and what was nice too, was when I ordered it, Cabellas gave me the total price to my home, so there were no hidden surprises. I was always abit concerned about ordering big $$$$ items thru the net, but I'll never hesitate to do it again.....at least not with Cabelas.
-
Unbelievable !! Sorta looks like the DVP during a normal rush hour ...........even without the ice
-
Total bill, all in.......$608 US with nothing extra from UPS. Actually I coulda done real well if I wasn't so darned honest. I didn't even now the package had arrived until I went out to the front porch and there it was, just sitting there with nobody around.......so signature asked for or anything else. It'd be quite easy for me to call Cabelas and ask where my GPS got to. Only took 5 days too, from time of order till delivery....awesome service !!

Pete's here, just hasn't been around today, but he's a regulat poster as always.

My grandmother lived just north of the Pits Eric, and I spent ALOT of time around those hills back in the day. Thanks for the memories !!

Bonnechere Provincial Park.....Have a look at it and you may be impressed. I've never been one for large campgrounds and this was the only Provincial park I ever stayed in, but it was excellent. It was in the fall though and practically empty, so I don't know how the summer months would be, but it's in a fairly isolated area and not close to any large urban areas. Your only a few miles from the s/e corner of Algonquin. The Bonnechere River is where our deer camp was many years ago, and it comes out of Algonquin Park and the campground is where the river empties into Round Lake in the Ottawa Valley. The park has canoe rentals and you've got about 12 miles of river to explore before it get's to Algonquin. There's also a huge sandy beach. It's been a few years since I was there so I don't know how the fishing is now, but have a look at it. I know if I was looking for another Provincial Park trip, this is where I'd be heading. From your description of what your after, I think this is the place and it's about an hour or 2 above Silent Lake.

Proboat, a Ram mount is that upright piece in my picture that the GPS is sitting on. It swivels at both ends and allows you to move your electronics into different positions.
-
Thanks Don, and I agree with you, I wasn't getting one myself but just saw it and thought someone may be interested. And Dax, I picked up a Ram mount just the other day infact.
-
Anybody ever try these locks for your electronics ?? I know it'll only keep the honest thieves from grabbing your stuff, but it may deter them from trying if your boat is left unattended for awhile. Saw them in the Cabelas catalouge for $17 each and thought somebody may be interested. Pretty sad that we even have to think this way though, isn't it ??
