  1. And this morning it jumped up to $1.23 Amazing how they can raise it 7 cents for no apparent reason other than they can
  2. I live in the boonies north of Peterboro and while I can't speak for Peterboro proper, I know when I moved here from Toronto 4 years ago my truck insurance dropped 40% which is a darned good savings. And your also correct about the gas prices as their nearly always well below Toronto and today their at around $1.16/litre.
  3. I've been fishing over 60 years now and have always enjoyed it, but things have been changing for me the last few years and I've been fishing less and less. I used to spend alot of time fishing muskies and for years averaged anywhere from around 70 to over 100 a year with my best ever year boating 115. I now live in the heart of the Kawarthas and am only 200' from Clear Lake but hardly ever fish anymore, infact I only fished the Kawarthas 3 times this year, and about the same last year. I spend several weeks a year up on the West Arm of Nippissing chasing bigger muskies but thats about it for me these days. Times change and so do our interests and for me lately, my interest in fishing has been on a steady decline, infact my last time in the boat was 3 months ago. Truth be known, I've even contemplated getting away from fishing altogether and selling off my boat and all the gear. But who knows what next season will bring...
  4. Good to hear Geoff
  5. Hey Art, not sure if your referring to my above post or not, but if so I wasn't taking a shot at anybody, just commenting that I would never shop in any store where folks were going nuts over a few saved $$$$
  6. You just summed up what Christmas is all about
  7. Saw some of those absolutely insane video's of the near riots in the States with people fighting over stuff on sale. Even if they were giving their stuff away free, I wouldn't do it.
  8. My wife enjoys a glass of wine and started using one of those places a couple years back and says the stuff she makes is excellent. And when her and her girlfriends all get together here at the house, it's pretty obvious they all like it
  9. Yeah, the father was a great guy and the one who fixed my motor. I have dealt with the son too and there was a definite difference. Nearly all of my fishing gear is Shimano and I'm only 30 minutes north of their Peterboro office, so any repairs I need go straight to them...but being Shimano, nuthin ever breaks
  10. Kinda disappointing to hear that Steve, they used to be good folks to deal with a few years back. I remember going in there about 12 years ago with a PD unit that stopped working. He said he was swamped and couldn't look at it for several days. I told him I lived 30 miles away and he said "OK, go grab a coffee and gimme an hour" I came back an hour later and he had all taken care of. Yup, used to be real good service.
  11. I dunno Matt, but lifes pretty short and if I hated something as much as you seem to hate the leafs, I think I'd be spending alot less time worrying about it....but that's just me.
  12. Try this guy Greg, I don't know anything about him but someone posted this a few years back and I saved the info. *********** Boat Tech 1058 Copperstone Dr, Unit 2 Pickering, ON L1W 3V8 905-686-5008
  13. That's what happens when you look after your gear. Very impressive for sure !!
  14. My daughters license plate is "grumpy" and she never smoked a day in her life
  15. I'll bet they catch all kinds of fishermen
  16. I didn't say it was easy, I said it's not as hard as some think. I know plenty of people who smoked for years then quit cold turkey and never went back, including me, my dad, my brother and my best bud. Just gotta be sure you really want it before you try.
  17. It is if you REALLY want to quit, trouble is too many people go in half hearted.
  18. Same for Clear Lake east of you Shawn, it was wide open Wednesday and frozen right across last night. Kinda pretty right now too with the crescent moon shining on the ice.
  19. Congrats on making one of the smartest decisions of your life. Giving up those filthy things isn't nearly as hard as you may think and when you really get a craving for one, just don't do it....it's that simple. 22 years for me now.
  20. Outstanding as always MB, specially those big toothy guys !! Kinda makes you wonder about wasting time on all those other species eh ??
  21. Couple nice fish there Dave, good to see you guys toughing out the cool weather.
  22. My wife and I go out for dinner every Friday night and always have a great time. Sometimes it's just the 2 of us, other nights it's with a group of friends. Might be the $12 Chinese buffet or sometimes it's a couple hundred dollars at a nicer place but to us it's always worth it. Been married 47+ years but Friday is still called "date night"
  23. Yeah, good to have you back Alex.
  24. About the same over my way Norm, kinda pretty this morning when the sun was shining on it. Now that's enough winter for me
  25. Pays to buy quality 1st time around eh.
