Incredible pictures of incredible scenery, thanks for posting them. Never been down that way but we're talking about taking the drive in the next year or so.

Sadly, some people will crash into you no matter what you do to keep yourself safe, whether your driving in poor light conditions or broke down at the side of the road. People drive on straight dry roads in bright daylight with no other cars around and they still manage to smash themselves up. I doubt anyone will argue though that flashing lights are far more visible and better at getting your attention that constant on lights. Emergency vehicles use them as do snowplows, tow trucks and pretty well any other vehicles working near moving traffic. High buildings, towers and big bridges have flashing lights so planes can see them easier and even lighthouses use a flashing light so they get the attention of ships still miles out at sea. People need to learn how to drive & pay attention to their surroundings and not crash into parked vehicles because they have their 4 ways on. Just like they need to put their stupid cell phones down while their driving. And something that always bugs me is the rule that says you need to either slow down or move over to another lane when approaching a stopped emergency vehicle on the hiway, but not for some poor schmuck broke down or trying to chance a flat tire at the side of the road. I've been driving more than 50 years and ALWAYS use my 4 ways when stopped on the hiway and so far...touch wood...it's worked out OK for me.

I recall a fire I was at one night years ago where we had 4 or 5 fire trucks, a couple ambulances and 1/2 a dozen police cars, all parked on the road with more flashing lights than the mid-way at the CNE. A citizen came up to us and demanded we put flares around all the trucks so passing drivers could see us. He was told by police if drivers couldn't see us with all the flashing lights a couple flares sure wouldn't make a difference. He wandered off in a huff saying he was gonna report us for putting drivers at risk but we never heard anything more.

My 400 Calcutta CT started acting up a few years back and when I'd turn the handle, the spool wouldn't work. I took it over to the P'Boro office and he said to leave it with him and pick it up tomorrow. I came back the next day and he said he had to replace some part and while he had it apart he gave it a good cleaning too. I asked how much $$$$ and he said, "well it only took me 30 minutes to fix and clean and I have to charge you something, so gimme 5 bucks" THAT'S customer service the Shimano way !!

Most of my gear is Shimano and one of the main reasons is their customer service. I've dealt with their Peterboro office a few times and it's always been good.

Excellent show and made for an enjoyable 1/2 hour watching it.

Kid Friendly Campground Recommendation (NF)
lew replied to sneak_e_pete's topic in General Discussion
Lovesick Lake Park really is a nice place and we used to camp there when I was kid way back in the late 50's. I now live just 10 minutes down the road from there and although we don't camp there we often go to their restaurant for breakfast or dinner. Beautiful camp in a beautiful location with great fishing. I'd 2nd the recommendation. -
Boat Test on new Starcraft Starfish 176 SC
lew replied to craigdritchie's topic in General Discussion
Very nice boats, I've had a couple of them. -
Pretty ingenious, specially considering when it was designed & built.

It sometimes feels that way LOL

The only line I ever use is 80 & 100 pound Power Pro and the palomar does everything I need & I've never had reason to try any other knot.
-
Your right Mike, nothing more fun than having a big fish hammer a bait right beside the transom. Course it also leads to a few moments of pandemonium LOL
-
The rod in the water catches any floating weeds and stops them from going down the line and fouling the baits. Also gets the short line lures a little bit deeper.
-
If you post the area you'd like to be in it would help guys with suggestions.

Thanks for that Roy, great video and even better fish and made for a nice break from moving snow. Hafta admit though, I could only handle the music for about 12 seconds before the mute button came into play

I called my propane company in Peterboro earlier this week Cliff to see if they had any shortages or problems getting propane and was told that no, there aren't any problems and no shortages are foreseen.....for now anyways. They get it from Sarnia and have it trucked up here. I mentioned earlier in this thread that my tank was topped up yesterday at $1.05/litre so if your getting it for $0.95 you're getting a good deal, but maybe it's better to pay the premium and be assured of delivery. As for my thermostat setting, I keep it at 74F as that's a temperature I like and find comfortable and even in the hot summer days I set the AC at 74 also. When I'm outside in the summer months I find low to mid 70's most comfortable so I keep the house the same. No way I want to sit in the house all winter wearing a sweater and long pants with the thermostat set in the low 60's to save a few $$$$ I have an airtight downstairs in the family room and run that alot thru the winter and when it's burning it sends enough warm air up the stairs that it exceeds the thermostat setting and shuts the furnace down. It's nice sitting in the house on a cold day with the furnace off and the temperature around 75F.

You've got a great memory Brian

Had my tank topped up today Shawn and the price was $1.05

Yup, it sure is nice Roy, and just an hour ago I got to watch a big ole gobbler sharing the bird feeder with the bluejays & chickadee's

WAAYYYY back in the day I loved blood pudding and would have it all the time, boiled in the skin and then covered in mustard. I'd cook up a ring and eat the whole thing for a snack. Then I got away from it and never had it again for about 20 years, then saw it in the store one day and decided to have it again. Cooked it just the way I always had it and it was the foulest thing I'd ever eaten. Don't know if the recipe had changed or if it was my taste buds but I'm done with it for good after that.

When we 1st got married 47+ years ago we lived on the 4th floor of a Scarboro apartment building with NO elevators. Not long after moving in an encyclopedia salesman somehow got my phone number and started calling me about buying some of his books. He called every night even though I told him I wasn't interested. After a week or so I was totally fed up with this guy and told him I'd changed my mind and now wanted to buy a set of his books and would he come over and bring everything he had including bookcases. Never told him it was 4 floors with no elevator.... He arrived and started hauling six full sets of encyclopedias up the stairs plus a couple book stands and after he finished and was trying to catch his breath, I told him I had changed my mind again and no longer wanted them. He hauled all his stuff back down the 4 flights of stairs, loaded everything in his car and left in a huff and never bothered me again. Nasty on my part perhaps, but he wouldn't take NO for an answer.

Musta been VERY cold Bernie
