Just to clarify Cliff, when I told about my friend being killed by a drunk driver I didn't mean to say anything against your joke, which I thought was darned good. Sorry if it came across the wrong way.

My bud was driving to his cottage in Dunsford and a car came around a bend on hwy 35 at an estimated 80 MPH on the wrong side of the road and hit my friend head-on. John was decapitated and died instantly and the other car flipped upside down in a ditch and exploded and 4 men burned to death. Autopsies showed the 4 were all stoned drunk. My bud was father to 4 kids and didn't drink. There's nothing good comes from drinking and driving.

Everything about that movie reminds me so much of my brother and me back in the 50's. Infact I'm such a fan of that movie my daughter actually bought me this for Christmas a couple years ago.

Always liked the Calcutta CT baitcast series for muskies until I I started using the TE series and there's no comparison. I still have rods rigged with CT but 90 % of my casting is TE. All a personal choice though.

I bought a new boat in '99 and a year or so later I got the letter asking for proof that taxes were payed. I sent a copy of the bill of sale and a year or 2 later I got the same letter again and once more I sent them a copy. Sure enough after a year I got a 3rd letter and I just ignored that one and never heard from them again. Bunch of total morons. +++ edit to add my boat was purchased in Ontario +++

It'd be a crazy enough ride running the Niagara in that little jet boat but doing it in a kayak is just plain NUTS

We have a Christmas party every year and last year a couple who were coming for the 1st time ever showed up at 7:00 Friday evening and all dressed up. We opened the door and he said "we must be early cause there's no other cars in the driveway" My wife said "yes you are, by 24 hours, the parties tomorrow night" We still laugh about it every time we see them

It's been too long Kelvin.

Have a good time tonight boyz, if the party was 100 miles closer I'd be joining you.

Things people don't know about the highway traffic act

Yup, I've seen that show a few times Joe and your right, there does appear to be a few places in this world even crazier than Toronto to drive in...and that's hard to believe -

It's been 47 years now since I joined the Fire Dept. and back then when Toronto drivers heard a siren, they moved outta the way and stopped just like their sposed to. When I retired 14 years ago things had changed in a BIG way and 1/2 the drivers on the road had absolutely NO idea what they were sposed to do. Some seemed completely oblivious to the sirens and just continued on their merry way. Others got totally confused and I've even seen them come to a complete stop in the middle of the road forcing us to go around them. Toronto is a wild & crazy place to drive now and IMHO I think a huge problem is the fact that so many new immigrants have come from places in the world where they never saw heavy traffic and emergency vehicles are totally foreign to them and when they encounter them they just don't understand what to do. I now live on a little dirt road in the boonies & see about 3 cars a day and just the thought of driving big trucks through Toronto sends my blood pressure up about 12 points -

I always find it ironic how people...or pets in your post...will be fined for not wearing a seatbelt, but passengers on streetcars and buses aren't required to wear them and are even allowed to stand while going down the road. -

Back in the day my mom had a 1955 Austin A-35 and it was the car I learned to drive in and what I took my test in. It didn't have standard turn signal lights either but instead had a switch on the dash that you flipped left or right and a little lighted arm would pop out of the door post just behing the front doors. When you completed your turn you flipped the switch back to center and the little arm folded back in again. Funny little car but alot of fun to drive. Wonder how many folks would even know what it was today if they saw those little arms flipping out This isn't Mom's car but you can just make out the arm behind the drivers door window. -
If a car stops and you either hit him or have to swerve to miss him your following far too close, driving too fast, or your not paying attention to what your doing.

That was a sad case all around. I can see the jail time and even the community service but don't really know if the added 10 year driving suspension is really necessary. I dunno...

NF-Should winter tires be mandatory in Ontario
lew replied to LostAnotherOne's topic in General Discussion
Back in the day when most vehicles were rear wheel drive it was pretty normal to only use "snow" tires on the back. Decent traction but steering could still be an issue. -
food that tastes better then it should (food experiments) NF

Same here Joe and my wife does a fantastic job with cooking it but a few of us had dinner at another friends home recently and he did his differently and it was also excellent. He started off simmering 10 pounds of onions in a big skillet and then put the liver straight onto the BBQ grill. When it was half cooked he took it off the Q and buried it all down in the onions and simmered it all on low with the cover on the pan. Served that up with 10 pounds of Yukon Gold taters and it was some of the best liver I've ever had. -

There's a restaurant at Burliegh Falls that serves a rib eye steak with blue cheese melted on top. Outstanding and I get it about once a month. -
Great day Chris & Chris !!

If your walking across a frozen lake to your ice hut would you rather be wearing your dress shoes with a smooth leather sole or good winter boots with a rubber sole and lugs to grip the snow ?? Same with winter tires. -

Good point Bill but don't limit the bad drivers to those over 60.
