  1. Nope, guess they figured if we didn't need a roof or heat, we didn't need power steering either Phil
  2. That was the thinking Roy and it worked well for that, but just not really feasible in our climate.
  3. That's what my wife always said LOL
  4. I've been retired from the Fire Dept in Toronto for 15 years now but I still enjoy wandering through the internet reading about things pertaining to fighting fires. I was looking at some trucks this morning and came across this picture and this truck is identical to one I drove for many years, a 1960 King Seagrave. Great truck and nice to drive in the good weather, but as you can see it was a convertible which made it a beast in the winter. There'd be as much snow & ice inside the cab as there was outside and even though there were windshield wipers on the outside, there were no defrosters so you still couldn't see out. Tough driving a big truck with one hand while using an ice scraper with the other LOL After being at a winter fire all night your soaking wet and froze solid and 1/2 the time I was driving back to the hall I couldn't feel the steering wheel or gear shift and & my poor old frozen feet didn't know when they were on the pedals. I loved every minute of my 32 years on the job, but sure don't miss the frozen nights cruising around town in a convertible when it's -20

I agree, robins are always...(usually)...a sign of the end of winter.

Thanks Joey, that nest has been sitting under my deck for about 3 years now and every spring Momma spruces it up and raises a couple more kids in it
  7. I'm lucky with the email spam as I never get any of that garbage.
  8. Years ago my bud had both his machines sitting on the trailer at his place north of Peterboro. Came home one night to find someone had come in, hooked up the trailer and just hauled everything away. He was lucky though as the insurance covered everything. Another 2 friends of my were out sledding near Burliegh Falls when one of the machines broke down. He left it there while the 2 of them headed home on the other machine to get some tools to fix it. They got back an hour later and it was gone. They don't know if someone got it started and took off or maybe it was towed. Lousy thieves are everywhere just waiting for an opportunity.

Forgot I even took this picture and don't even know if I posted it before, but who doesn't love baby robins
  10. Got an early morning call from someone claiming to be from the VISA fraud department. He informed my that someone used my VISA card last night to purchase something from ebay and in order to confirm it was me, would I please give him my VISA card number. Sad that some folks actually fall for this crap and probably sadder is they more than likely only get a slap on the wrist when their caught. Call came from 940-759-4745 and if you type that into GOOGLE it appears they try it on alot of people.
  11. Shaun, since moving to the country 5 years ago and living near the end of a VERY quiet dirt road, I think I've become that exact person you just described. If a leaf falls off a tree a 1000' away, I know it
  12. Memquisit has a nice beach Matt and it's directly in front of my cabin.
  13. Your making me homesick with that tale Fred, but not much has changed with the dink pike
  14. Hey Matt, Diane and I will be at Memquisit Aug 8-22, when are you guys coming up ??
  15. It's always lousy when we lose a pet but I know you gave your friend a wonderful life and that's the way dogs should be treated. Been through it a few time myself bud and know exactly how your feeling right now. Condolences from one dog lover to another.
  16. Hope you find that punk Chris and do a real job on him. Thieves are about the lowest form of garbage around.
  17. I'm leaving mine as is Fred, but if my old brain remembers, I'll bring it to Memquisit for you to see.
  18. I've got a 2009 150 Yamaha & it's great. Nothing to offer on an '04 though.
  19. I honestly don't understand how so many of you folks have so much trouble getting treatment for so many things. I've had both hips replaced, plus I've had spinal surgery, my wife just went through some very serious stuff plus another pretty delicate surgery a few years ago, and we've both gone through all the other normal medical things that everyone goes through and so have both my kids. Never once, in all those instances, have we had a single problem with anything. ALL tests have been done quickly and the surgeries have been scheduled and performed very fast. I dunno, maybe my family has been extremely fortunate, or some of you boys are just having plain lousy luck.
  20. And also it seems 1/2 the time they show a video of a suspect it's so darned blurry it's impossible to see anything discernible anyways.
  21. Funny you say that Brian as I thought yesterday was gorgeous. Infact it was so nice I cleared my 250' of driveway with just a shovel and left the snowblower in the shed. When that was done I parked the truck in the sunshine and outta the wind and washed it. Beautiful over here again today too, bright & sunny, but just a tad too cold this time for truck washing LOL
  22. Any back country road away from the traffic makes for a great drive, winter or summer. Wife and I do it all the time, sometimes driving 300 miles round trip through the boonies in a day just for lunch. Sometimes were gone so long we have to stop for supper too. The best trips are the ones without a destination. Pick some quiet roads, take a camera & enjoy.
  23. Some things should be kept secret Brian
  24. I remember the 1st TV remote we got and it was called Space Command. I thought I'd joined the Jetsons
  25. I haven't talked to him in a couple years Mike but I know he went through a terrible time and hopefully things are somewhat looking up for him.
