  1. That would be a great toy to have and just think, you'd be able to piss off the fishers in the boats and the people on the beach. LOL Dan.
  2. That likely wouldn’t be Chrysler itself doing this; but either a dealer’s in-house program or a very aggressive sales person, fishing for business. As for telemarketers; I usually ask them to hold and then set the receiver down on the table. When I hear the hang up tone, I hang up the receiver. I’ve had some idiots sit there waiting for 15 or more minutes. LOL Dan.
  3. Reminds me of my son and the first picture I wanted to take of him holding his catch. He lands the pike, I unhook it and tell Andy to put his rod down; he's so excited that he put the rod down alright, right down over the side of the boat. LOL Wish I could find the picture; there's tears in his eyes and a smile on his face; talk about mixed feelings? LOL Dan.
  4. I been performing safety inspections for years; sorry guys a spare tire is not required. There are many misconceptions regarding safety requirements; mostly stemming from techs reading things into the regs that are not there. Here's a couple I always get a chuckle about. The driver's side window must go down; as to be able to perform hand signals. There's noting in the regs that says the window must go back up. So if you have a window stuck up, throw a hammer through it and it now passes inspection. Exterior lighting you must have high and low beam headlights and a rear license plate light and that is all that is legally required; if the vehicle is under (Don't quote me I haven't looked it up lately) 20 feet long and 7 something feet wide. Yea that's right; signal lights, brake lights and marker lights are not required; but the driver's window must go down to perform hand signals. LOL Dan.
  5. Oh man what a great report and pictures!!!! I've been trying to talk my wife into a trip out there too visit her brother in Richmond; but so far she's said no? To be truthful she knows I have no real interest in seeing him; but he's that close to the Fraser. LOL Again loved the report. What's with the picture of you in the helmet; zip lining I guess? Sorry for this but it makes you look like you should be riding the short bus. LOL Only joking and I'm very envious of your family trip; it's only a dream for me. Thanks again. Dan.
  6. This doesn't match the tread; but reading the subject line this came to mind. Hey Cath (wife) I'm going fishing with the guys tomorrow. OOOO NO YOU"RE NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dan.
  7. Great minds Lew great minds. LOL Dan
  8. Did anyone else here about the 50 some year old man and his mother; that died in their home due to carbon monoxide poisoning. I guess he had his generator running in the garage and the fumes came into the house. The silent killer, makes you go to sleep too never wake up; very sad. Portable generators are great; but you have to keep them outside while they're are running or have a proper ventilating system to get rid of the fumes. Two lives gone from lack of better judgement. Dan.
  9. Haven't had to work Xmas or new years since I left the farm; Dad always had something for us to work on. Been working as a mechanic for the last 37 years; 31 of them in my own garage. We're closed as of noon on the 24th and back in on Monday the 30th. Closed again at noon on the 31st and back in on the 2nd. Taking the Friday (27th) off to let my techs have a 5 day holiday. Hopefully they don't eat and drink to much and come back refreshed; because I'm going to eat and drink way to much. LOL It's good to be the boss; sometimes. Dan.
  10. It's not uncommon to see/smell that on a 4 stroke, if it has been doing a lot of low RPM running. But you've done the right thing by letting the dealer know your concern; there a fine line between normal and excessive fuel in the oil. With you telling them this, they should check the fuel system; making sure that the motor isn't being over fueled. Dan.
  11. I've got a membership there as well and I agree with everyone on the stuff they sell; but I also kind of agree with Fisherman. I know it's only 5 bucks but when you don't know anything about having to be a member, it kind of takes you back. Is this a 5 dollar scam and that's what I asked the clerk when she told me that I had to join before I could buy anything. Mind you I didn't look for any notices stating that while I was in the store; but if there were any they weren't place in a very conspicuous place. Dan.
  12. This has to be the best product I've ever used; but the distributors have pulled out of Ontario even though the head office is in Vaughan. Dan.
  13. I know what you mean; besides my day to day customers, I've just taken on a 1964 Impala. Guy wants me to install a LS1, 5.7Lt and a 4L60E, 4 speed automatic; this drive train was salvaged from a 2004 Camaro Z28 wreck. That means fabricating engine and trans mounts, rewiring the car to accept the computer controls and the rest of the electronics that go with. Meanwhile my 50 Chev gets to be pushed to the side; but she'll understand. The money made from the Impala will be invested in the Styleline; that's if the wife/book keeper doesn't get her hands on the cash first. LOL Dan.
  14. 30 years married plus 5 years living in sin. Dan.
  15. I was raised on a tobacco farm; we had all the amenities that a household had during the 60's & 70's; but there was no such a thing as going out for a meal. Dad would say what better food is there then what we grow right here in the garden, raise in the barn or in the pasture. We had chickens, hogs and beef cattle; that we raised not just for us to eat; but all the seasonal people that boarded with us during harvest. My mom cooked three meals a day for about 20 people; plus a mid morning and mid afternoon snacks for all the workers. I can still hear my mom telling me what she needed from the garden for the next meal she was preparing. Or sending me to the chicken coop to collect the eggs for that morning's breakfast. That brings back another memory; that frigging rooster, he use to chase me out of the coop and half way back to the house; pecking at my heels all the way. LOL It's funny now but when you're 6 or 7 years old and the rooster is about as tall as you; it got your attention pretty quick. I know this isn't the extreme as some of you guys have mentioned; but I know we lived a lot healthier life then; we were doing the organic thing before anyone ever coined the phrase. Dan.
  16. I did that last Sunday. Check for fuel, pulled and cleaned the spark plug; it was only after checking for spark that I realized I didn't turn the switch on. Dan.
  17. It called reverse coolant flow; many of the manufacturers are doing this now. It supposedly helps get the engine up to temp faster and it also stabilizes the coolant temp faster. With the thermostat on the bottom, the rad is allowed to get warm coolant before the stat opens. So when the thermostat does begin to open it won't slam shut again by cold coolant in the rad. It all about emissions and getting everything up to temp and keeping it there as fast as possible. Dan
  18. It's not much help; but here's an exploded view of the water pump, pump housing and thermostat. The cardboard thing will probably work; but make sure you beat it into his head to watch his temp gauge. Just to add; if you get that engine running at its proper temperature, his fuel mileage will go up considerably. Dan.
  19. The bear must have been hurt pretty bad, for this guy to get close enough to beat it with a rock. If that assumption is true, then good for him for putting it out of its misery. Dan.
  20. I bought this 50 Chevy Styleline Deluxe about 2 years ago. Did what I had to the first winter,so I could drive it that coming summer. The in-line 6 just didn't cut it; so last winter I swapped it out for a V8 Vortec 4.8Lt, out of a 99 Silverado. Sure did wake up the old girl going from 92hp to an approx 285hp, fuel injected computer controlled. This winter I'm planing on a disk brake conversion for the front and possibly adding air conditioning. Once I get as far as I want on the mechanical; I'll start on the cosmetics. Dan
  21. All we're seeing/hearing here is the bottom line, the price tag. Go in and talk to the guy and find out why and where these extra charges came from. Take a minute and do the math; by the time you take all the tax off, it's something like $125.00 difference. Like I said go in and have a talk; listen to what he has to say and let him know how you feel. If you both keep an open mind, I bet you two will come to a mutual agreement on the bill. Yes he should have called you; but maybe he was into this job up to his ass and the only thing to do was finish the repairs or junk the whole thing. Nobody would have been happy if that were the case. Just because he didn't call, don't you do the same thing by not talking to him. Dan. Sorry I had to add this; My Dad always would tell me this when he knew I was pissed at someone. “Danny you’ll catch more flies with a little bit of sugar, then you would with a whole gallon of vinegar”
  22. LOL with putting things out at the curb. We put out a couch, love seat and chair; looked out about 15 minutes later and the couch was gone. About a half hour later the couch was back; but the love seat and chair were gone. I guess the couch didn't fit???? By morning the couch was gone as well. LOL. Dan.
  23. Great pictures they look B&W with hints of colour; the one of the dog especially. Only in Canada EH; I went to the drive-in theater Saturday night in the 50 Chev; it was more like May then November. As nice as those pictures are you can keep all that snow. LOL Dan.
  24. Yea I've sold a few things through Kijiji; it can be a pain sometimes with larger ticket items like a car. When I tried to sell the Corvette, I went through a couple dozen tire kickers and low ballers to the point I pulled the add. Then there's the guys that want to trade; they were offering motor bikes, ATVs, boats anything and everything except cash. LOL Dan.
  25. No that's cougar country Dan.
