  1. CONGRATS, ATVs are one handy tool to have and some fun also. Couple things to look over before you pass over the cash IMO. Jack the front end, put in 4 wheel drive and neutral and spin each of the front tires. That should tell you if 4 wheel drive is working. Take a real close look at the cv boots in the front ,and if there are some , in the back. A hole in them is a bad thing. Give them a slight squeeze to feel for grease in the boot. Try the pull start or kick start, make sure it works. The rope could be rotten if the bike has seen much water, and auxillary start can be a big saviour in bad situations, like a dead battery. Take it for a good long test drive and put it through its paces. Make sure the rad is working well. This can take a while to get it to kick on,especially in this weather. But you want to know it works. Listen carefully for any sort of grinding while the gears are changing. Especially in the lower gears. Grinding is bad, and after a quick read about this model did read a few problems with the grinding in the transmission. All bikes and models have problems, this sounded like this models weak spot, not trying to spook you. After the good long ride, ask if you can pull a little oil out of it. check the drain plug for any metal stuck to magnet, or really odd colour or smell to oil. Since your going through a dealer, which I think is a good thing. Don'T be shy, ask for a 150km warranty or something, it's still a bunch of cash and not worth walking away with no guarantee this thing is not ready to pop. A good dealer will do that and put it in writing for you. It's peace of mind that they have checked it out somewhat. Cheers and have fun being safe.
  2. What year? From a dealer?
  3. I can understand the want for new, but the cost is at the top also. I went used and was/am very happy with what I have. The guy I bought from gave a short warranty. He is still going strong. He is buying the bikes from the u.s. mainly and the cost reflects. I was able to haggle the taxes included in his asking price since he is a "dealer", I believe I worked in the license fee also. Check his site out. "Wild bills rv and atv" It might be worth the drive to get a almost new bike with a few more options and cc's then you are pricing new. As a side note I learnt that the best upgrade on any bike you purchase is in the tires. I did and the difference was very noticeable.
  4. They stopped me and 5 year old last spring in our boat. I had left my license at the cottage. They threatened a fine, but did not proceed . I insisted that they follow me to the cottage to have a look at my license. They did. It made me feel better to prove that I was trying to play within the rules.
  5. Also roof truss packages have needed a engineer stamp on them long before the BCIN came into effect. BCIN was a "insurance" that all packages co-existed properly and gave the muncipality or city one point of contact. along with someone with insurance to help in the situation of a lawsuit. Again I'm sure you know all of this just clarifying for others. Another thing has to be considered, the home is approx 19 yrs old. It may have seen some renovations. The removal of walls is typical. When some "cowboy renovator" has limited knowledge but a good price, things like this collapse can and do happen. You get what you pay for may imply in this situation. Just because it is a truss, doesn't mean you can rip any wall out that's for sure. Many renovations occur with no permit.
  6. Um.. I think i understand what you are explaining, i think I may have a different interpretation though. In a standard stick frame..which would be properly sized roof rafters for the appropiate span, the only thing the ridge board is doing is giving you a nailing surface to "join" the two opposing rafters, there would be no need for supports under the ridge. This scenario would require the use of collar ties in the bottom 1/3 of rafter length. Do you agree? This would represent the dormer area. As far as the Main roof, I would assume its too wide for "standard" stick frame. They may have gone to a ridge beam, roof joist application if possible. In that application, the ridge beam size determines the span it could carry? correct? This is most common in a cathedral ceing room." every 4' of ridge support " is the part I'm not understanding in your comment. I'm not disagreeing in that that would be extremely optimal , but in many situations impossible. especially in a cathedral room situation. And only if there is a interior wall directly under the ridge, in this house, on both floors and basement. I'm not trying to argue. I am only wondering what you are refering to? What would you consider the ridge to be in this house?1-2x10 or 12 or a beam of say 4 -2x12's? I like both learning and sharing knowledge. Im sure at the end of the day we both would agree. This is a very terrible situation for both homeowner and all contractors. Something was obviously done wrong and missed "by alot of eyes " hopefully. Properly specked trusses are the way to go in my opinion, although I have refused many "stamped" packages due to undersized members requiring a truckload of lumber in the trusses to make them strong enough. Bottom line shopping by house builders has created a horrible acceptaance of this in the truss industry. It needs to be reformed IMO. Inspectors have their own knowledge, but are guilty sometimes of not doing a thorough inspection of roof packages. I HATE SEEING STUFF LIKE THIS, PEOPLE CAN DIE.
  7. I like your trip report. Nice fishing for sure In pic 1 I know what i would anticipate ....the sh1t$ from that god awful beer. Buy some good stuff next time would ya!!!! Hahahaha
  8. Huh?? I'm not picking up what your laying down?
  9. I think it's breast if you donut
  10. It drives me UP THE WALL. They are literally panicked if there phone battery dies or can't find the charger.
  11. As our teenage daughter is getting older everyday, I ponder. Will kids of her generation be successful cat burglars? From bed rise to bed rest, she is consistinetley constant at typing on her damn smart phone. I'm sure her fingertips and prints will ware off. What you think?
  12. Sweet!! Twins.
  13. Common sense tells me those teenagers don't have any.
  14. Vinyl for a kitchen floor would be slippery for sure. Too much glossy finish IMO. There must be some that are designed for a outdoor application though.
  15. I would investigate Line X bedliner spray. There are more colours than the standard black spray in bedliner. I know it won't be cheap, but it would be really good. The guys that do it here in london are nice guys and will spray mostly anything you require.
  16. Looks nice
  17. A simple motto my pop kept telling me growing up "speed kills"! It eventually sunk in, and now I preach it to my children. The other one he would say when some person goes flying by you at 145 or way to fast for the conditions. "What's their hurry? They are just gonna sit down once they get there". The math doesn't lie: 2 slow guys get into a accident or 1 slow guy and one fast guy who assumes he's blessed with perfect driving skills.
  18. Im wondering if he had imported minnows?
  19. Yes, thats definetly part of the plan. I really want these kids to reel in something!! Dad wants a rooster hahah, but pulling in something else will be great also. We are all looking forward to this entire trip. Im looking forward to getting out on some soft water. It appears to be still getting harder around here.
  20. Here is a little more food for thought about choosing your downrigger provider. Scottys is a canadian company originally. The scott family. Still manufactured in B.C. Majority owner is a fella from England who purchased his share and moved to here (Canada) to be a hands on owner. Cannon is owned by Johnson outdoors. Johnson outdoors was started by Sam Johnson of Johnson/Johnson ie..waxes ...... With an endless supply of money and being an avid outdoorsman he started buying companies whose product he liked and thought was good quality. Johnson outdoors has bought and sold off a bunch of companies in the past and present. It is a publically traded company and reports to its share holders. Not sure if this makes any difference for your decision process but thought I would share it. DR's are a fairly simple apparatus in theory. Looks like cannon has a bit of a lead in the RD department. Scottys make a lot of plastic for various things/businesses. Cheers MM
  21. Warranty for cannon ( Johnson outdoors) is hard to beat IMO. Cambridge is where the warehouse is, if that's close to you? Again they are a stand up company IMO
  22. Finally booked something. Decided since I was bringing my two young sons out with me, that we would do a 1/2 day inshore fishing for rooster fish and such. After reading a bunch thought I would give www.pezrey.com a try. Reviews on TA and his pics look good. Equipment looks like it lands some nice size fish once in a while, and should be suffice. If anyone knows of a lure or tackle that I must bring let me know. This is more than likely a once in a lifetime chance for my little boys.
  23. D.D. Is part of a different dream. Cheese dream= bread, chez whiz, bacon n a oven. Not deutsch if yer wondering about the oven now.
  24. Are you willing to eat cheese dreams in order to up the Pepsi amount? How many hours would you be in the boat per day? Is a D.D. a good person to bring? Sounds like it has the possibility to be a good trip!
  25. Well it's kinda nice to see this thread not fill up. There's a big difference in frustration and disappointment in my boat. Frustration is present a lot of the trips I go on. The nice part is it never outweighs the FUN. Tagging into some of the other threads, the biggest frustration bordering disappointment is when I DON'T COME HOME STINKING LIKE FISH. But as misfish and others have stated , even when not successful at boating any fish, I search for the other types of success. Wether it be the birds the scenery the conversations whatever. They are always there. Fishing has many other things to offer besides catching. So I guess I will apologize for the loaded question IMO that wasn't intended. Bashing props and ruining equipment sure does suck but it IS the price you must pay when seeking the many different types of JOYS in this wonderful activity we call FISHING. Cheers MM
