Of course they are totally unrelated. Lew I was trying a feeble attempt to show how sometimes luck is a real thing. I still am of the opinion that very, very good parents can have bad offspring. Bad luck? What else can it be? And the opposite can be true when very bad parents can have children that become adults and good contributors to society and law abiding citizens. I have personally seen both scenarios many times. I can't explain how Brian's kids became criminals and many kids of drug addled abusive alcoholic parents that kids are taken away from and put into the Foster system have survived the abuse and went on to become good contributors to society. In engineering there is something called a sinusoidal curve. In any process, operation that is closely controlled actually anything from the weather, the perfect storm scenario that can not be controlled, to sports when a few or many things go to the bottom of the curve bad things can happen. A series of unfortunate events that will usually cause a failure. To have them fail all at the same time can only be called bad luck, if there isn't a failure it's good luck. I might be out to lunch but I can only explain some things in life as lucky or unlucky. Not very scientific I know.

It happens all the time. My buddy dug a farm pond and in just 3 years there were Carp in it. How??
-
I as well John strongly believe in that theory. But, when a 53' Tractor Trailer goes through a stop sign exactly at the same second a bus full of Jr. Hockey players does, exactly the same millisecond and dozens of kids are killed how do you explain that? Devine intervention? That I don't believe in.

Update? Seymour Lake (Trent River)- Solider Weed?
Old Ironmaker replied to Cloudy15's topic in General Discussion
And just 3 years ago the Perch were on fire here on the north shore. My good pal and I went out for a few hours one afternoon west of Long Point on a Walleye trip. We unloaded the truck put the boat in and I said lets try and get some Perch for supper. Bought some Emerald Shiners and went out for a few hours. A 14" Perch is a personal best for most guys, I've been close but not a 14"er. He caught no less than 3 of them in that short afternoon fishing trip. 3!!!! -
Winterizing. Stabil vs run motor dry

You are correct Sir. -
Lets hope not. I can't believe a Goby could stay alive for the time it takes to transport it from a different body of water. But it happens just like Zebra Mussels.

Winterizing. Stabil vs run motor dry

So the fogging spray does have oil in it. Art said so, sorry guys I would take Art's advise here above all others. Therefor one shouldn't have a fear that a dry fuel system will rust because it's never dry if you fog the system. I am still confident that there is no or very little air in a fuel tank. Moisture yes, especially if the fuel has Ethanol in it. That's why you add a phase separation additive to the fuel, regular or Hi-Test Shell, I use Shell 98. I didn't use my kicker for the last 3 years. That makes the 1/2 tank of fuel with oil added 3 or 4 years old. I was going to take it along with all the old paint to the counties recycle day but they told me I need to leave the 75 buck portable tank there, nope. Another subject for another thread. -
Update? Seymour Lake (Trent River)- Solider Weed?

And the opposite on Lake Erie, sort of. Walleye fishing was on fire, newbies were limiting out with regularity but, and a big but, there were zero Perch to be found, even the commercial guys complained about the Perch. A big money fish exported to Japan. Perch bring in more bucks than Walleye. High water levels were a factor according to the commercial fleet. I haven't read anything from the Ministry explaining the drop in Perch catches. Google time perhaps. Ohio might beat me to it, be my guest Paul. -
Sometimes there is luck involved raising kids. I know 2 guys I worked with for 20 plus years, I was their Foreman. You learn a lot about someone you work with, both were stellar employees. Each mirrored the other. Same education, same jobs and wages, same neighbourhood, wives very similar. Both had boys the exact same age that were in the same classes in school. I am going to assume the same upbringing in the home. We had a Hunt/Fish camp on The Ottawa south of Pembroke. They both brought the kids one year for opening of Pics with us. Mario's kids were yes please Sir, no thankyou Sir, may I help you Sir. Brian's kids thought the world rotated around them. They were constantly fighting and telling their Father to take a hike (auto word change). You could see the shame on Brian's face all weekend. I couldn't believe it. Mario's oldest worked in Prime Minister Harper's office and his second son became a High School Principle. Brian's 2 boys were in and out of prison since their early 20's and who knows where they are now, either incarcerated or dead I would bet. Who knows what went on at Brian's behind closed doors? It's hard for me to believe Brian was a bad parent. Those 2 demons may have defeated his wife and he over the years and they just gave up. Sometime it is my opinion that parents have to be lucky raising kids.

We aren't getting any younger to cook for 20. My baby brother will be 60 this coming January, his wife nor he can make a sandwich let alone dinner. about 7 years ago he insisted all 17 of us come to his 1 bedroom apt. for Christmas dinner, I asked where are we gonna' sit Bro? You don't even have 6 plates and cutlery. Then it was she and he were going to Mom and Dad's early and prepare dinner. Then on Christmas eve when they didn't show up for the fish and seafood feast Ticha and I made Mom told us they are both dying of the Flu and can't make it can you guys do it. So we drive the 2 hour return trip to get our clothes and up early to start making everything from scratch. No Turkey, where's the Turkey? He got busted, they didn't even buy one, this is Christmas morning. I am going to stop here before I put a fist through this touch screen. A Christmas we shall never forget. Anyone here know how difficult it is to find a thawed 25 pound Turkey on Christmas morning? However they said they did have a 2 pound ham to contribute. I had to tell them the difference between a ham and a frozen piece of peameal bacon. Lasagna that Christmas, Turkey smurkey. I drove around all morning to friends and goomba's in Hamilton to get enough ingredients to make 2 massive home made lasagna's. I sware we rolled mini meatballs for 2 strait hours. We ground up some thawed and some frozen beef, pork, chicken and even some venison to make them little basterds. The best meatballs ever. Probably one of the best Christmas dinners, ya' can't forget that one. They still laugh about it, we don't.

Winterizing. Stabil vs run motor dry

I always assumed that the Fogging spray had oil in it to coat all the fuel system. What is the purpose of fogging the fuel system if not that? I learned in my Small Engine repair class at the local Com. College never leave a drop of fuel in the system. Phase separation will gum up all the little metal components in the carb(s), fuel lines etc. . I have been using Hi Octane fuel for the last 5 years and added the Phase Separation product 2 plus 4. Sometimes it doesn't fire right up in spring but once it does just look at the key and she will start. -
I used to know a guy named Manitoubass2. I gave him the name M2B2. A pretty good fellow. Shall I call you M2B3? I had pepper jelly for the 1st time in my life at our Thanksgiving dinner here. I said there were 16, correction 18 of us and 2 babies. My wife did a 25lb. bird and all the fixins. She prepped for 2 days, she is one amazing woman. This was all after putting in 8 straight 10 hr. days at her store. I mixed a few ingredients for a Maple Dijon glaze, slapped it on a 10 lb ham threw it on the BBQ to heat it up and everyone thanked me for the dinner. I did not take the credit, this time. If a dinner contains tomatoes and garlic then I'm in charge. For Canuck food, she is Chef de jour. There was zero veggies and mash left, zero ham and just enough Turkey we had open faced hot Turkey sangwiches last night. The only time I want fresh squishy white Vunder Bread.

I know how I would feel if someone touched my kid. But do you really think that is the way to deal with it Chris? He's watching your every move. I might go the route of going to the school authorities then if that didn't work then threaten the guy. For all we know that little kid may be getting slapped around by his father at home and he is going to take it out on his baby. JK they are babies.

Cliff don't put your phone number on the internet. Delete it.

That's funny but I am surprised it is still up here.

Why did it break in the 1st place? I'd like to know that before I broke another one. Not a common breakdown in my experience. It will be tough to get someone to do it for you at this time of the year anyway. Try iboats.com for a new part. They will have it I'm positive. Good luck and get back out there.

I've always believed in the innocent until proven guilty law seriously. Sometimes it's easy to send someone to the chair before a case sees the inside of a Courtroom, sometimes it's hard not to convict before any evidence comes to light, like this one. I have had to go to court twice, no violent crimes, Ministry of Labour charges both times. The Judge's said eventually no crime at all. My Lawyers suggested I plead out on the 1st case, I got new lawyers took a trial by Justice and was acquitted, both times. Ironic that I took a position with the MOL for a few years after I took my pension. I think the experiences got me the gig.

You guys know what I am talking about. I grew up in Rosedale right about 1/2 way between the Parkdale Gang and the Rosedale Gang not far from the Parkdale bridge so I went to school with both and played Little League Baseball with both at Mahoney Park and the valley in Rosedale. Both neighbourhoods were made up of working class families, you won't find a Lawyer or a Doctor living there, ever. Some of those guys ended up with nothing because of many factors including petty crime to support drug abuse. There are many success stories of individuals from both neighbourhoods. Some had great parenting and some had terrible parenting but some with terrible parents became successful. My young M.D. has a family practice on Kenilworth N. He attended SWC and lived near the Coke plant. I have no idea what type of parents he had but I am going to guess great ones. There were many that worked in the Steel mills with me from that area and decided to continue living in the Parkdale area even when they could afford to move to the Creek or up the Mountain for example. Some were hard workers that did well and some were a pain to deal with that had to borrow 20 bucks on Xmas dayshift to bring milk home. And the guy was making 25 bucks an hour in the 80's!! A member of The RD's biker gang, what a surprise. I haven't been down there for a good 10 years unless I go to Princess Auto. A Pipefitter I know through a pal lives right down the street where this happened behind the school. He has worked for 35 plus years on the job and doesn't have 2 red nickels to rub together. Struggles to pay the rent on the place he shares, a 2/4 of beer a day for 365 can dip into a budget big time. He was and he still says he is a member of the Mini Mob and is proud to say it, what a goof. Many I know are now good hard working tax paying grand fathers but knew when to leave their gang days behind them. You knew those guys Pics I'm positive. Mike W and Billy W are both gone now, don't know if you knew that. I became good friends with Billy and his wife over the years. If you told me that 50 years ago I would think you were daft. When someone stabs a child 18 times there is more going on than bullying.

I appreciate all the comments and our opinions are respected here whether we agree it is the solution to bullying or not. I was bullied the very 1st day of Kindergarten, didn't even get into the school yet, it was in line. I was 4 turning 5 in October, (in fact today, yesterday now was my 65th birthday.) Anyway my Mom made a bouquet of Roses to give my teacher. David M. told me I was sucky dago for bringing the teacher flowers. I had no idea what sucky meant or what a dago was. It was the 1st time in my life I was frightened and adrenalin kicked in. We went to what we called a "Protestant" school. All my friends and cousins went to Catholic schools. My Mom would have none of Catholic schools as she and her brothers all went to Catholic schools with those Nun's in NY during the 30's and 40's. I was one of two Italians that went there, and Lenny C. told everyone he was French! From Kindergarten to the 10th grade I was terrorized. I was the oldest of 3 boys, no older brother or cousins around to defend me. I made a list of those I was going to get my vengeance. Between grade 10 and 10 that I failed my father sent me into the Steel Plant to work the summer. I was 15. I shoveled sand and refractories for 8 straight hours a day. Grew a good 8"s and gained about 40 pounds of muscle. I still had the list. I became the bully. I played Sr. Football at 190 lbs. both ways in grade 11, 12 and 13. Some on the list were on my team and others actually went to Sir Winston Churchill the same school were this poor kid was murdered and some at Delta Secondary. I went through that list 1 by 1. Took care of them on the field in practice or during games for my 3 senior years. Some I met on the street hanging around The Red Barn fast food joint. Thinking back I have to admit I was the bully and these kids might have deserved the good beating I gave them but when I became an adult became ashamed of myself. To this day I feel bad about it. This is a good one. Dave M. and his older brother kept on bullying "The Wop" right until that summer I worked at Stelco at 15. I'm riding the brand new 10 speed I bought, I also bought 2 new bikes for my little brothers that summer, Dave and Aaron were driving behind me in this humongous old hoopdee Buick they probably stoled that day, David and Aaron were driving to school in grade 8 in stolen cars at 13 or 14 yrs old. They start bumping me on my new bike with the car. Yelling out the window " Hey wop your getting it, pull over." I take off and head up a dead end street. When they catch up they have nowhere to go. I pull Aaron out the window of the drivers side, give him a smack and he's flopping around on the road like newly hooked Perch on the dock, by that time David is trying to get out his side and he gets the same thing. They are crying like little girls saying they are sorry they only wanted to say Hello Deef. My nick name then. I said something that if I see them again they are getting knocked out again including their father who they always went to for protection. Was it fair? I out weighed them by 40 pounds by then. No it wasn't, I was the bully but it sure felt dammed good I tell ya'. Don't I run into them here at the lake 40 years latter at a Golf tourney. Both are dead now from alcohol and drug abuse. They were members of The Parkdale Gang. The word then was that I was going to get it from the other members of the Parkdale Gang, that day never happened. That's what happens when bullies get bullied. They run away and hide. Sorry all, I've only told that story to me wife until just now.

Winterizing. Stabil vs run motor dry
Old Ironmaker replied to Tjames09's topic in General Discussion
And I have always run the engines tanks dry in my 2 stroke engines, lawnmower, weed wacker and chainsaw and have had zero issues. I was told by a chemical engineer a closed fuel tank with fuel in it will not rust because there is zero 02 in it. For example if the tank is say 3/4 full the other quarter is full of gases and is under positive pressure. The theory is proven when a fuel tank gets hot, those gases expand and the plastic gas can gets a bulge in it. On the boat those gases will come out the vent and occasionally if the tank is fairly full fuel spills out onto the ground, hopefully not the water. Even on a vehicle the gasses under positive pressure will occasionally make a sound when the gas cap is removed. That's part of the long running discussion fill the boat with fuel or empty the tank when winterizing? Or just leave what is left in the tank in the Fall. I fill the boats tank to the max and add a fuel stabilizer (2 plus 4) after fogging the carbs and running the carbs and fuel system dry. Only because fuel prices generally go up in the spring and I might have saved a few bucks or more buying less expensive gas in November. -
Man that's something you can't un see. Cool story about your son's buddy. You do realize you are famous Brian, or is it infamous! If I am close enough to someone I can eaves drop on their conversation it's time for me to move. That was when I could wade in the river or shoreline. Do they make walkers for fishing?

You're welcome Kelvin. My brother Mike brought us a bag full I think he said that he bought at Fortino's Eastgate Square. We roasted them on the BBQ and had them before dinner today. The smell brought back some great memories. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and their Families, Johnny D.

You misunderstood Albert. Dammed if I can remember the point I was trying to make. There is a program on one of the US networks. Children prisoners doing time as adults. There is one kid that was incarcerated in a tough prison in Texas at age 15. He did his 15 years and now is a professional criminal. It has been said prison is secondary education for criminals. But I do get your point. Just yesterday we were talking about how light or criminal system is on young offenders. In the 60's if you stole a kids bike you did 6 months in boys reform school in Guelph. Shop lift, a year. Abuse was rampant but isn't incarceration a form of abuse? It's supposed to be.

They can't lose this week Brian. I wouldn't dare hi jack this NHL thread, some may know where I live. Now back to Hockey!
