The groom above just got himself a keeper. About 15 years ago they posted "NO FISHING" signs on the Port Dover pier here on Lake Erie. It is packed with pier fisher people looking for Perch from ice out to fall.Not everyone is blessed to have a boat. I stirred the pot locally and there was actually a protest and people showed up. I don't think there is anything better to me than to see a few kids riding their bikes with a rod and reel strapped to their back. Better fishing than hanging around the Mall or in front of an X Box. They took the signs down. The Feds said it was a liability issue. I guess only fisher persons fall into the water let alone the kids that dive off the end of the pier at any given time.

My phone is screwed to the wall. How am I supposed to find a curly cord long enough to reach the lake and attach a TV to it? Come on man don't be silly. As far as a trolling thing for back water fishing. I attached a trolling line clip behind my nephews remote controlled boat a few years ago. And it worked, the problem was you need 2 guys to fish 1 line. One to control the remote and the other to hold the rod.

Cando, don't you know that the US has never lost a war in their history. Just ask any of my American relatives including my cousin Allen that teaches HS History. It was US President James Madison that declared war against the British in Canada in 1812. Allen says they didn't lose that war because Canada gave up the territory they took, like much of Michigan and a major portion of up state NY and Vermont including the entire Lake Champlain. Maine too I think. The US never lost a war in Viet-Nam. Congress never declared war in that "conflict."

Last spring I gave my genius buddy (don't tell him I said that) to run with the light weight hi R value fish hut. He told me all we need is about 200K cash to run with it. Drawings, a to scale prototype, a Patent Lawyer, a full prototype, travelling over seas to find a cheap manufacturer and then local distribution for the product oh and then an inventory to supply Bass Pro and CTC if you get a meeting and they say yes give us 10,000 for a trial run. 200 grand probably isn't enough. There is a reason some of the best inventions in the world sit in someone's basement or garage. Cash poor.

Back in the Dark Ages in 95' when our staff had access to the Interweb thing the subject of using company resources and time came up concerning folks using the internet when they were supposed to be working. Our senior staff that may have never seen a PC up until then said they would fire anyone doing that. I asked if they have ever fired anyone for reading a newspaper or looking at a Playboy magazine up until then? Like HTHM says here, "Oh look, a can of worms lets open it." It is under Ontario labour law potentially a dismissible offence, I have never heard of anyone within my circle (which is very small now) that has even been disciplined for it. To completely digress, of course, I recently learned that one of my Engineer trainees in the early 90's that I failed on his 1st bout of operational training has been named Vice-President. What did I know? I'm cringing.

We went into the woods and came across 2 Coyotes when we took my 2 baby nieces for a walk before dinner here on Thanksgiving Day. Don't go into the woods with little soft tasty appetizers in tow. .

I am somewhat surprised reading some off the posts here thinking Grapes said nothing wrong, disappointed yes but not surprised. Our discriminatory thoughts are just a slip of the tongue from becoming words, me included. As far as him saying immigrants don't buy and wear Poppy's, how would he know, how would anyone know? That is a thing that can not be quantified. My Mom was an immigrant, from the US, she wore Poppy's. A 2nd cousin that lost his life when shot down on a sortie in a RAF bomber over Germany in 42' was never given the chance to wear a Poppy, he never made it home. My Grand Father that took shrapnel to his scull fighting for The British during WW1 never wore a Poppy, he was an immigrant from Italy that volunteered to fight then later in life was interned in Camp Petawawa as an enemy of the King in 39', Grape's can add him to his list. I am not wearing a Poppy either. I have bought 5, 1 is on the floor of the truck, 1 is where I keep my car keys, 1 went through the wash cycle and 1 is MIA. They won't stay on. I must be an immigrant.

Like I said I have always enjoyed listening to him but he crossed the line this year. I have bought enough poppies for 6 others. If it lasts more than 5 minutes before falling off I'm lucky. If they made them to stay on I would never have to buy more to replace the ones that I lose!!!!

Under Ontario labour law what he said is an offence that could result in discipline up to and including dismissal. That's just the way it is, agree or not agree. My opinion doesn't matter here, it mattered in the voting booth. There has always been a 49/49 split in left, right politics here in Canada and most democratic societies as well. It's the other 2% that determines who the governing party will be.

Yes that be the stuff Dave. Now I remember what the stuff was, I'm talking 21 years ago. Nothing you would want to put in your boat. I remember before I left for greener pastures in January of 2000 they were trying to determine how to replace it and get rid of it. That was a huge amount of hazardous fluid in service. We created a in house Haz Mat team specifically trained to deal with a leak before E Blast Furnace was blown down for a major reline in Dec. 99'. Luckily we never had a leak. We were told to deal with it as if it was Nuclear waste. This is a perfect example of advise on the Interweb where someone (me) has good intentions and a terrible suggestion. I doubt one can purchase it anyway. Unless you buy it from a former KGB agent in a clandestine location on a cold dark rainy night under a bridge.

I would like to see or hear exactly what he said. I don't follow Hockey any longer but would tune in between the 1st and 2nd period on Hockey Night in Canada just to listen to him. It was refreshing when you listened to a Talking Head that didn't tow the company line and didn't care what he said and who he said it to. People are so sensitive today. When I was a kid I worked security during the tapping of his TV show The Grapevine if I can remember that long ago in his restaurant and bar in downtown Hamilton on Main St. I found him to be very respectful to all the staff unlike many of his guests and a certain producer of the show that is now a star of the US reality show "Sharks Tank." Yep that would be Mr. Wonderful when he had a head of curly hair and wasn't a multi millionaire yet.

After a lengthy renovation we finally have listed our waterfront cottage on Lake Erie. Better late than never. It is 45 minutes south of Hamilton and about 45 minutes from the Toronto bound 403. The pics don't show a beach however after that massive wind storm on Halloween we have some of our sandy beach back even with these higher than normal water levels on the Great Lakes. I had the armor rock retaining wall redone last summer under the watchful eye of the Ministry of Natural Resources and The Long Point Conservation Authority. It faired very well during that 100 year storm. I brought in 100 tons of additional stone and slabs of concrete last August. The property is to the water unlike most water front lots. We didn't get the bottom of the boat wet this year and hardly last year, maybe 2 trips. I only filled it once in spring of 17'. I didn't go through that fuel in 2017. So I have a 1/2 tank of fuel from 2 years ago. I will pump it all out before I even think about turning the key. The carbs should be dry when winterized in fall of 17'. I use Shell premium and still put in Seafoam and or 2 plus 4. Many boat Guru's call Seafoam is fake tune up in a bottle and say it's a waste of money. We never think we are going to have 2 year old fuel in our barges because we plan on using it. Sometimes plans don't work out like we would like. I broke my back the end of 16'. I brought in my kicker tank to the county hazardous goods recycle day in Sept. They said they need to keep the tank. I don't think so, now I have to find some old cheap red containers to dump it into. I think I paid around 75 bucks for the low profile tank with gas gauge. What do they do with all the gas cans/portable tanks they keep? They should have an exchange set up. Sad to say but I know where some fuel ends up and lots of it.
