Cold Calls - Car Dealership???? NF
Old Ironmaker replied to Headhunter's topic in General Discussion
They're just trying to make a living. Not the greatest job in the world granted. Better than some of the alternative ways to get money. -
I don't know about that. Good aluminums are few and far between. I couldn't buy that around here for less than that. I didn't read what FF paid for it. FF, Good looking rig, hope it all works out. I think you have a nice boat for under 10K. The info you have listed is great for anyone looking to buy. JD

There is plenty of ice at St. Williams and plenty of fish being caught. http://www.longpoint.on.ca/forum/index.php?forums/fishing-reports/

That Walleye look too skinny to you guys considering it's length? Must have been starving or what?

Those are the best road trips. Point the steel and follow the road. Want a nice drive stay off the beaten path from S.C. to Florida then get back on the interstate in Jacksonville. Highway 1 along the Atlantic is always nice too all the way to Beaufort. See some old plantations with all that beautiful gypsy moss hanging from the trees. Just stay safe, your not in Canada anymore. Enjoy. If you get as far south as Port Charlotte I may be at the house there in a few weeks to do some painting, bring a roller. Just kidding. Just PM me if you head that way. We can head out for some Snook.

Happy New Year to you as well Chris. Is that what you daydreamed about sitting up in the crane cab? Works of art. Wish I could afford one. Any company discount??? We had a Gord Loomis from Utilities 25 years back, man time flies. He was from Mt. Hope as well. Same guy? He said he was. The guys loved pulling my chain sometimes. 1st Monday of every month 09:00 at The Egg and I for breakfast is a monthly get together for the Blast Furnace guys, Upper James if you have time sometime. I don't go often, no calendar here anymore. What's today? -

How are the Leafs doing? -
Oh you'll fit in here just fine. I understand the Smallie obsession, Musky? Was at a tackle store in London today and was gawking at some of those Musky baits. You guys must have some pretty large for arms pitching those bulldog things with a 2X2 rod. Wow. I'm impressed.

Yes mercman nutbars come in all genders. I did say usually not always. It was my wife, also a woman, that said that. I knew I would get it for that but I'm only quoting her and she'd kill me if she knew I said that. Sorry if I offended anyone which is very easy to do in these days of political correctness of which I personally am getting very tired of. And too tell you the truth it was necessary because it was a quote not an opinion.

Bang on. My wife is in retail and the return stories she has are ridiculous. Receipts for products that they don't carry( some people never heard of computers), or the receipt is from another retailer and the nutbar customer, usually a woman, want's her money back. Some people shopoholics don't get home and want their money returned for something they bought a few hours earlier. A few have been asked not to shop there anymore. Thus strict return policies are enacted. 2 side the that coin folks. And I'll restate this Mastercraft is no longer Canadian Tire. It is a supplier, exclusive yes, but simply that. Just ask them.

Interesting opinion/factoid about Mercs vs Yammies
Old Ironmaker replied to woodenboater's topic in General Discussion
Yes I generalized. I owned a 03' Chrysler Intrepid and it was the worse piece of poop I ever had. Constantly replacing computers at a grand a pop. I wouldn't give it to my worse enemy. Looked mint when I drove it into the scrap yard on limp mode. I stand corrected, again. -
When the winds pick up now that ice will heave on Erie and those 20' icebergs are common. Now that I know how to post a pic I'll try to get some. This is perfect conditions for them. They can last until April floating around the lake. Here is a link showing satellite images, they can be bigger than some northern lakes. http://archive.wgrz.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=73535

I love it when the first ice forms a thin layer like on Monday AM when the temps dropped quickly. About an inch of glass like smooth new ice. Then the wind picks up and piles the ice 10 feet high in shard like sheets. The ice then Falls into the lake and sounds like tractor trailers full of glass being dumped on the road. It is very loud and very cool. My wife was off and never heard it before. We sat there listening and watching for quite a while. I tried to capture it on our small Nikon but 200 feet out it just doesn't do justice like being there. I wanted to walk out a few hundred feet but she forbid me to. What a Mom! Next time I'll climb out on the icebergs and try to catch it, way too cool as the kids say.

Yes, yes, yes. It is the same stuff, I just went into the kitchen and can't see a bit of difference. You so smart.

Yes install it on a polymer Transom saver. Good question as to where to locate. Call around reputable Marinas in your area. We are talking a 5X5 piece. Ask nice they may have a piece sitting around, slow this time of year after the boat show. As for the exact install location, take all the info on the install instructions to heart even though quite generic, I leveled the trailer to simulate sitting in the water. Do not wrench the beejeezus down onto the vinyl nuts or silicone until 100% certain of performance. You will need to do a test run in the fall to see how the location is. I installed my new unit in the exact location of the previous Garmin transducer for my new Hummingbird unit. First run and I had a rooster tail 12 feet high. I kind of like it. Keep forgetting to lower it a mm. So don't tighten it until you see how she planes. I could say what's the rush but I know why, new toys need to be played with. I'd put her in the water at the Hydro plant asap. You are so close and you have a reason why.

Very well done. Looks like a picture postcard day. I hope your better half dressed you for your outing, my goodness sakes, the Muple Lups? as my father says. Haven't seen a Splake for 30 years, and a nice bonus eye to boot.

Grazia Roy, I knew you would know. So are they tied to Canada or is Bombardier owned offshore now as well? I don't get out much you know, and if it wasn't in our weekly paper out here from Caledonia (the Dunnville paper shut down) before I went back online last year I wouldn't have heard anything. The Hamilton Spectator only covers Toronto news now. Thanks Roy. Keep up the great work. -

Mercury or Yamaha, Chevy or Honda the debate never ends. I don't know anyone that invests thousands in any consumer product and admit they hate it and made a mistake choosing it. We never want to admit a mistake. Can anyone tell me what BRP stands for? I can't find what that acronym means even on their corporate site. Did I hate I hate acronyms LTP. -
In ice fishing you look at a rig and say " what self respecting fish would eat that contraption?" They can look strange but work. For Pike of which I don't fish for through the ice anymore since moving to Erie, I want them to stay as far away from my perch as possible a large minnow on a medium to large spoon such as a Williams Wobbler or whitefish. The brightness of the spoon or lack thereof would depend on light conditions I believe. I would hook it through the back as NAW explains. The pike guys can help you more than I but that would be my first tactic. I might even go with the tried and true Original Red Devil or Daredevil. I would try dead bait if live isn't the ticket. Go in with a game plan, then a backup, and a backup to the backup. But be diligent about it. I hate when I get to the point I'm staring into my box for I don't know what with a look of despair on my face. There are some nice Pike here and might give it a go this year. Don't tell any of the perch guys near me, they would flip I think.

Man, if your going to be a criminal do it big. Fraud is fraud, thinking because it's someone that burned you doesn't make it less of a crime. If you do something make it worth while, go for fraud over $5000.00 at least.
