How can we lose with that stacked team!!!
-
Fishmasters Marina in Dunnville on the Grand has a few campsites. Rock Point is very nice but I think you will need to trailer the boat to the river, it is on Erie and no way you want to take that boat on that water. In my opinion fishing below the Dunnville dam is far better than above.

Thanks Justin for the video. I have never seen one either in the wild or on video, maybe. Until a few weeks ago when I read about a poacher trapping them illegally near Scugog I had never known they even exist. That critter looked to be thick and healthy. You couldn't have asked him to pose any better. At least it got some holiday turkey too. We have plenty of what I think are Otters that swim along the beach and run around in the big armor rock wall here. Similar but long and thinner. I thought they would only be near shallow swampy waters and we don't have any of that within many miles. Maybe they come from the woods out back. I wonder if they might be fishers, sure look similar but your guy was a lot plumper but when wet it would be much thinner like my wifes big fat cat when it falls into the lake trying to catch minnows. That I would love to catch on video. It's mother used to bring the minnows up to the deck and leave them for me. I told her a thousand times " No live bait, artificial hardware only!" I miss her sometimes. And the cat too.

Ram 1500 Diesel - Mileage Post (NF)

I have been destroying vehicles since I was 14. Have owned everything from Audi and Alfa to a 240Z and Zephyr. From micro cars, MGB, Triumph, Coopers to Caddy land barges and everything in between. Almost every brand truck manufactured including International Harvester and Range Rover. Each have their pluses and minuses. They say they don't make things the way they used to, thank goodness because the vehicles today are so much better engineered to last than then. I know I might get flack for this statement but I still say if you got to 100,000 miles in the 70's the body was most often rotten along with the frame where we lived. It's an argument we have regularly in the back yard garage. For reliability I'll take my wifes 3.5 liter close to 300 horse Altima with 350,000 kms over any car I had for everyday reliability. Sure not sexy, fast, actually it's scary fast, and can't take a corners apex like my Alfetta but has taken nothing more than regular maintenance. But then again she drives it not me. -
Where do I go to see what team I'm on. Thx JD

First ice fishing trip of 2015 - Lake Couchiching
Old Ironmaker replied to BFSC Kevin's topic in General Discussion
It is nice to be young and talented. Now I know why the old timers way back when invited us to ice fish with them, drill the many holes for them with manual augers and set up the old Army tent. My 1st ever ice trip was on Couch. Ever thought about getting a few sled dogs? Don't want to sound like a broken record but cool video guys, keep up the great work. I have to say you guys sure fit a lot of equipment into that little red SUV you drive. -
That sounds like it would be good Dan. I don't think I'll get the opportunity to cook any as Moose meat around here is as rare as Alligator ( rare as in not much available).
-
Brain , where in gosh sakes did you ever find that video? Another 3 feet or so and the inventor would have been a millionaire as he would have invented the Snow Board. Because of Al Linder I bought Lindy rigs in the 80's and they still work. Seagar line because Charlie Ray told me too, and it works too. Italo told me to buy a Rappala and I bought one once in spite of him and Barb telling me to.
-
I thought I recognized the name if the Leafs new coach. Played ball with his brother Dave in the 80's. I remember Pete, he took power skating lessons from my sister in law in Stoney Creek before he played in the states. If he's anything like his brother, what a beast. Small world. I hope he does well.

What's your biggest fish through the ice?
Old Ironmaker replied to manitoubass2's topic in General Discussion
A 55 pound Bat Ray in the Keys. Ooops through the ice not ice in my drink. We didn't weigh it but I pulled a 38" Northern through the hole on Nip many years ago. Last fish on a Sunday afternoon of 3 days, got me the 40 bucks for big fish. Never give up, might get you 40 bucks. BTW, nice Burbot Jeremy84, keep it up. I've never caught one after 35 years fishing. -
I buy my wine by the 5 gallon pale. It's white or red. If you want a slight Rose put some red in the white. Now this is coming from a guy that has had everything from the best Ammarone (sic) in Alba Adriatico Abruzzi to Sake in the Ginza in Tokyo Give me a 50 buck a pail or box of juice and I'll be just as obnoxious as any connoisseur after a gallon of the finest 78' Marchel Foch. I really do not enjoy Moose but love Venison. The guys say that's not possible, but I just don't like it. I find it dry and too woody. Is it possible to like one and detest the other? I detest it as much as I do liver. They don't get it. I love milk chocolate but won't put white chocolate to my lips. Nice freezer BFW, better keep the doors locked.

I don't get out much anymore so I have no idea how and what temp sensor is used to spot issues. W5, who, what, when , where, why. Please advise. So as to not high jack this thread PM me if you deem necessary. You put more miles on your trailer in one trip than I will in 5 years. And it looks like Irishfeild is the other guy passing me with his cruise set at 122KMPH. I drive like an old lady I guess, actually I do now come to think of it and my lady tells me. That's it tomorrow I'm going to do 84 in an 80. -
Hey Joey, That's why I only go to Hammerton unless I'm summoned by the " Don " ( my brothers and my father). And I never bring the truck. Those parking spots are getting smaller and smaller. I need to check as to why I'm not insured off road and how much it will cost, it would be interesting to find out. He actually told me many people that have sleds and ATV's would be surprised to find out they are not insured on the ice. I told him it might be a nice thing as their agent to let them know. He didn't respond. Jack butt pencil necked geek.

I commend you Nick for organizing an outing, it's not easy to get 4 guys together for a lunch let alone a group of folks for a day on the lake in the winter. I hope you guys get good weather and the pics co operate with you. I'm jealous that I can't even stand up over a hole without sitting down after 10 minutes. If I ever write that book it will be titled "Go Out of Bounds After Ten Yards". Too many knee operations and that cold just kills to the titanium now. Have fun and email me a fillet or two will ya please. Tried to PM you, box full?

I can see the advantages for free spooling but at what price? 212 bucks seems pricy.I can't say \|I've lost a fish in the time it takes to flip the bail closed but I don't finesse fish for Steelhead. Then if loosing fish it might be worth the $$$'s. I was a big fan of free spooling when I was learning to fish Walleye bottom bouncing a light presentation because that is how I was taught by the Father in law. I was getting tired and felt terrible killing fish that were deep hooked and loosing rigs to bottom feeders. It is a great method for big cats but again too many deep hooked. That's why I went to circle hooks, never deep hooked and you can let them run a bit too, Never deep hooked. I don't know the physics behind it but those circle hooks work, for many, many dollars less. I wonder if they can be used for your river fish?

I missed the Hamilton GTG an hour from my place and it was in a warm restaurant, you north guys are too hard core for me. And no chicken wings or BBQ? I'd love to meet you guys but need food, lots of it. If FishFarmer says he will go, count me in, I'll bring a Hibachi and maybe a rod. As or driving around on the lake I got the word from my insurance agent, no legal road, no insurance. That includes off roading. I can't afford to loose my truck under water. You guys that drive around on a frozen lake are either brave or rich.

Art, avg 73 MPH towing a boat. Whoa Nelly. So that was you flying by me on the 400! So when you are doing the speed limit you make up for it by flying in the low 80's? Just can't wait to get there, I don't blame you. I never speed going home. -
I only use screen cleaner with a clean microfiber cloth. Or will dust with a clean Swifter dry cloth in between a good wipes with cleaner. Those things hold in the dust and grime, I wash them often.

Interesting and certainly different that's for sure and funny in spots. I like the "here's Sven taking a piss". I can't figure how they can get a weight if they don't weigh some of those minnows. Some of those fish are monsters. I wonder if they are as sweet as ours here in Ontario? I imagine Swedish fishing shows don't have censorship for language. Their command of English is superb for "F" bomb sakes. The counter clicker is a good idea. Big Dave a perch charter guy at Long Point uses one I'm told. He will bring in 300 good sized perch in a day, a good idea to know how many when keeping that many. I sure don't need one most days that's for sure.

Thanks Bill. You are a virtual cornucopia of knowledge and it's much appreciated at this end. While I'm at it high jacking threads, someone I know who's name will remain anonyms , was trying t be a good husband and cleaned his LCD screen with Windex. The result was a mess of vertical coloured lines in the center of the TV. It is now only 1 red line down the center. His wife is not very happy. They just bought this16 months ago. I think it's done, finished, gonezo. Is there a fix? No it wasn't me. I even I know not to use Windex.

Good morning Sir, that's a good one to start the day. That would really be short jumping. Here are a few I just read online. "Missippi's literacy program shows improvment" (3 out of 5 words spelled right isn't bad.) and Mayor Tells Homeless " go home". Man that kills own lawyer gets new lawyer. ( that's one dangerous job ).

Canuck2, you may be waiting a while before that CRT dies. I bought a 28" latest Sony in 1989, that was the largest non rear projection screen available. It's still working at my brothers cottage. I paid $1800.00 plus tax, that was a lot of money then and still is. Now I hear if you get 5 years from a flat screen you are doing well.
-
Raf just said broadcasters don't send a 1080P signal, it's up converted from i to P via the HDMI cable? Regardless I will disconnect the coloured cables. I know they were not cheap when I bought them. So now what do I do with them, stick them in my audio/ video coffin? I bet I have dozens of RCA cables, singles, doubles, triples, splitters as well as dozens of co axial connectors splitters and switches, gold connectors for speakers and components, 100 feet of 12 gauge Elephant cable , spare stylus' including those for 70's era PA systems. I saw the price of a single simple red/white RCA cable and almost choked. I better think about flogging this stuff before my wife chucks it all.

fishfinders and chart plotters are like computers these days...
Old Ironmaker replied to AdamS's topic in General Discussion
The sad truth indeed. I still count depth using a rock and a rope. It's a nice rock. -
Burnt the tips of the knives. I almost chocked on my medicinal stupid stick. Actually I had to ask Tia what it meant. I never went to college when I was a kid so I never smoked stupid stick, she knew what it meant right away. That is funny, very good.
