Red lights are there so you can play with the GPS and talk on the phone, no? If anyone here has been to Hoovers Marina there is what we call "the punishment" light, it is red constantly at the intersection of Nanticoke RD and RR#3. Allowing traffic to continually flow from the Hydro plant (where hardly no one works any longer). If the traffic sensor isn't working you may sit waiting for hours.

When I was younger and had more than 2 beers a night we would hit a greasy spoon after closing. I went to celebrate my good friends 40th in Halifax. After a night of merriment they break out the PICKLED HERRING. Solaman Grundy or some God awefull thing. The worst hangage I ever had. I can't even walk down the canned fish aisle to this day.

I googles that and this is what it said about it on the website, Translation, Introducing a high torque bait casting reel designed with elegant machine cut technology. The uncouth and robust construction of the LIN10R/L is combined with a silky drive feel. With a further increase in performance, it has the ability to dominate 10 pounders and up in a struggle. The Zirconia Meteor has evolved into a stripped down lightweight design, with all extraneous elements removed from its construction. The low gear ratio of 6.3:1 is suited for the heavier pulling resistance of deep cranks, Alabama rigs, heavy weight spinner bait, swim bait and so forth. From beginners to veteran anglers, this reel will show you the true thrill of power games. You have to love when the Japanese translate to English. I love it. A stripped down uncouth reel for the thrill of power games with extraneous elements removed. It must be the Porsche of reels. I did see the Ferrari of reels, another Japanese reel that retails for around $4000.00 I think that has a built in computer complete with automatic drag and motor. Gotta get me a few of those babies, maybe next year. I would be afraid to take them out of the house. But good choice.

Listening to 550WGR from Buffalo on the way home tonight. Talk was about the Sabres tanking the rest of the season to get the #1 pick. Man that's a long time to throw in the towel. Are they serious or is it just more talk radio to fill time. Isn't the Stanley Cup in the summer now? Non Hockey guy asking. But I know who Mc Davis is.

Without going silly nuts, like finding a new 300 HP 4 stroke under the tree, what would be the one thing you would be trilled and amazed to find under there? I always get a few nice plugs and I'm both happy and appreciative. I just found Bill's Bait site on internet history, whooor rah! If I found a new 100 lb. thrust electric I would be over the moon as mine is pooched, and then probably feel guilty because it's not in the budget, but it wouldn't be going back, that's a for shue. What would be something you would be very blown away to find? Last year after Christmas I think there was a thread showing the fishing stuff and I was amazed at some of the goodies I saw. Santa was good to many lucky and deserving fishermen and one fisherwomen last year for sure.

Advice-Ice Fishing Lake Nipissing
Old Ironmaker replied to LostAnotherOne's topic in General Discussion
What do you look forward to more, presents under the tree or any fishing trip of the year? I know what most if not all here will answer. That is unless a new 100 lb electric or a few riggers or something like that's under the tree. -

Big bait catch big Walleye too. My largest Westmeath Ottawa River Pic came on a huge shinner fishing for Pike in mid afternoon in Bellows bay, I always wondered if she was lost. -
I was tricked into eating beef tongue. I was told it was veal scaloppini. It didn't taste like veal but I had seconds. Then I found out what it was and haven't had it again. Then again I had snake once on a business trip and thought it was a long skinny fish. I was warned but my Japanese isn't very good and the Sake was warm and plentiful. It was very good but I'm not going out and catching any and cooking them up any time soon. The brain is a complex organ. My mother cooked liver like Beans' Mom, until you could resole a shoe. I ate it with copious amounts of onions and Ketchup or didn't eat that night. I've had it a few times afterwards and I still do not like it. It's beyond don't like it actually but for those that do, like my wife, enjoy. I think she orders it because she knows I won't pick at her plate.

Where did you book if I may ask? Another thing was we would head out at very early and try for the morning bite for Walleye. Fish for pike, perch and whatever else would bite then at 4PM really pay attention and work for the dusk Walleye bite. It's been a while since we had any luck for Pics during the day. But a fish is a fish is a bonus because I don't get on the ice but twice a season, maybe. I like my ice on Rum when its 26C in the shade of a Palm tree in January. -

We have always had good luck with a simple jig and plastic grub in white, yellow and chartreus for Pics, a must on that lake is a stinger hook for sure. Good luck. Is there any ice up there yet? -
Whats with the price of pork spare ribs
Old Ironmaker replied to mr blizzard's topic in General Discussion
If I'm in the city I will choose a Mom and Pop butchers shop every time now with meat prices through the roof. Even at a few cents more a pound. I can't ask the butcher a question or cut my steaks or roasts to my liking when I'm staring at into the display at the big stores. I can at the small shops because the butcher is standing right there. When I see a small handful of stewing beef for 6 bucks like last week at Zehrs I want to scream. I'm surprised they don't have security guards there keeping an eye on the meat. Actually shoplifting meat is something common now I'm told, the crackheads and misfits are up early and are sold out by 9AM in Hamilton. Apparently they go in on a scooter early and fill up, no one wants to mess with an old lady on a scooter. Any one here remember the butcher shops that had 3" of sawdust on the floor? -
NF-Should winter tires be mandatory in Ontario
Old Ironmaker replied to LostAnotherOne's topic in General Discussion
A conundrum that is an issue in my mind. We are planning to drive south in January in my wife's car. What do I do with the winter tires once I get to Georgia? I had a pair of Blizzaks on a car years ago I and didn't know to switch to the summer tires I didn't have. Those tires shredded badly after a few weeks in May, lucky I wasn't doing 120KPH on the highway. Do the new winter tires break down on hot roads now as well? I don't see people driving with 4 spare wheels and tires to get down south and back and stopping and changing them when driving conditions change. For anyone that has made that trip you know that in 24 hours conditions can go from ice and snow to road temps over 100F. As for snow conditions being different north of 7 and south of the near north, take a nice ride along the Erie lakeshore when drifts are higher than the vehicle even when it hasn't snowed for weeks. The wind here is what kills us. -

I'm serious. A compressor and a jack and WE are in business swapping out wheels too. I'll be in the office writing job safety procedures and doing the ISO stuff, be careful lift with your legs. -

While we are on the subject what is the best way to store tires and wheels, vertically or horizontally? One tire guy says on their sides atop one another is OK, the other guy says never do that, store vertically and roll them once a month, yea another chore I won't get around to. I'm cramped for space but 40 bucks to store isn't in the budget. If they do mandate them I'm going to rent a space and make money storing tires.
