  1. If Nippising was a C&R lake only all the businesses up there will be putting "Out of Business" signs on day 1. Since they set the limit to 2 Walleye within the slot requirements some have already I am told.
  2. I know you want to kill this thread Pete but a prime example of why I love this site is Roy's post #13( quote feature NW for me). That's what I mean by great humour.
  3. I believe the sign is still there. I saw a sign on 69 before you get to Maskinonje Lodge for OFC as well. And my wife went through the same spiel, too funny Brain, I mean Brian. I was offline for about 12 years here at home until we finally got hi speed. I was a member on OHFA 12 years ago. They no longer have a forum???
  4. I have seen plenty of shore guys fishing the old canal. I know that is not he proper name of it . The fall fishery at Pt, Dalhousie is hot. I have seen cars parked there with plates as far away as Michigan and Ohio. I used to fish Jordan Harbour. We pulled out very nice Large Mouth out of there in the late 80's. Lots of slop and good weed lines back then, now? You will find out. Good luck and welcome to the Peninsula.
  5. If I remember correctly I asked the same question just after I joined. Maybe another site. Because of this site I have been able to stop some meds. Because of this site my Dr's have put me on other meds. Yes Spiel I recognize you from that 15 year old pic. We have all changed in 15 years. Some more than others. I'm not called Johnny The Body anymore that's a for sure.
  6. Ahhh, Cottage life. A wonderful peek into your down time. Since ours is about an hour each way to Hamilton we found ourselves commuting most of the year. I said to my lady one spring evening why don't I gut this place and we can get rid of the house in the city. She said "Why not?" I proceeded to walk over to one of the bedroom walls and put my foot through it. Sold the house and moved into the first "home" I have ever owned. It is the first place I have lived that I would rather be home and can't wait to get back there like today and everyday. Enjoy my friend. Think about where your favorite place is, then move there. There are schools nearby I guarantee it, maybe even a store or 2.
  7. I used pressure treated wood and a commercial carpeting that does not have a rubber backer but some type of polymer. I glued and over wrapped then stapled. I didn't even think about stainless staples but I got lucky as they have not rusted so they must be SS. I saw the aftermath of a nice new boat with a new 4 stroke that had the plastic like bunks that slid off onto the concrete. Not a pleasant sight, 2 grown men sobbing and curled up into a fetal position. I'll change the PT to cedar when and if it rots. When the cranking gets tough I back the boat back in a few feet and she cranks easily. If I had a larger glass boat and did not have a slip I would go Fish Farmers route, for sure or get a electric winch.
  8. I come here to learn. contribute and above all have some fun. If it wasn't fun it would be called consulting Pete. Then I would put a few bucks in the jeans. If it wasn't fun sometimes I wouldn't be here. You need to lighten up a bit and have some fun. Your opinion is respected by me regardless if I agree or not Pete.
  9. It is my responsibility to know what coverage there is on any policy I have . If I buy anything to upgrade my boat, such as a new $1500.00 combo I call it in and give them a copy of the receipt. I can't see how you buddies insurance company is negligent. It's up to him to know exactly what he's paying for. And what exactly defines a low life, someone that has an accident? Being hammered and driving is no accident, it's an on purpose. And I can't agree with Irishfied more. He should get a new boat out of it, forget replacement. There isn't 'no fault" comprehensive as far as I know.
  10. Chris in North Bay, sorry for one excuse or another I am still picture posting unenabled. New word. PM me your email and I can then send a few.
  11. At our age Big Cliff the health issue supersedes the cost of any unit. A few years back Mom who is American insisted she go to Western NY for her last family reunion "for a few hours" regardless of my objections as she is uninsurable. You guest it a ER visit to the hospital in North Tonawanda cost them $7200.00 US. Just stay away from the states.
  12. My simple answer to question 1 is no. After 5 days fish is no longer fresh in the fridge let alone a cooler. If you go on a charter and you are counting your fish before you leave the dock has always been a skunk sentence for me. Counting fish before they hatch. Once you have caught enough fish for 2 days release the rest. The fish Gods will reward you some day. And you won't be liable for a charge by a CO for letting game fish spoil. Follow the good advice for icing fish and dump the water out constantly. I know you won't have access to a freezer but when we went into the bush we would freeze large and small soda bottles similar to what fishindevil suggests and lay a few on the bottom, smaller ones with in the belly cavities of the fish and more on top. Fresh ice on top daily but for no more than 3 days. I like the pop bottles because water won't get into the cooler because it's totally sealed. After 3 days that fish is not fresh unless buried in ice and in a refrigerated vehicle like the commercial guys use to get the fish to market. A manager at Fortino's told me never to buy fish after Wednesday. Deliveries on Monday were likely caught 24 to 48 hours prior. So Thursday they are not fresh. The eyeballs must be bright and clear, the gills deep red, and the fish should not smell fishy. You can also buy a Yeti cooler that claims to keep food fresh in the cooler for 5 or more days. I have seen some for $1000.00 USD. Good luck and enjoy.
  13. Brilliant procedure. I love Gorilla glue. I wish they made clear. Do they? I always use too much and it can make a mess but that crap holds anything to almost anything.
  14. What a pleasure it would be to spend time with the family and catch fish one after another after another. That sure is God's country. What I noticed right away was how brilliant gold the pics are up north. They shine like a new Rolex. The walleye here on Erie are a drab light green with no gold at all. It is tough to hold back when a fish takes a topwater but it can be deadly and to me the most exiting way to take a fish. Very nice Sir, thanks for sharing your adventure and family time with us.
  15. Are you talking about storage for when you are docked or when you are on the water? My choice on the water is vertical. No way I can step on a nice outfit when it is pointing up. I made mine from a 3 foot section of 3" ABS and screwed 4 X 1.5" ABS onto it that the rods slide into. On the bottom I glued a reducing nipple that goes from 3" to 2". The 2" end fits perfectly over top of a seat pedestal that is mounted at the bow or rear casting platform. When I take the rods out I just pull the mount out and lay it up front. If I wanted 8 rods out of the way I could make another one. I copied it from a boat I saw at the marina. If you don't have a pedestal mount you can buy one for around 50 bucks at any Marina. For your 14'er a triple rocket launcher for 20 bucks at CTC. for 40 bucks you can mount 6 rods nice and neat. If you can't store horizontally the only option is to go up. For your boat mount it on the bow] out of your way trolling. If you build one like mine when you don't need it just pull the pedestal mount out.
  16. I just turned on this Laptop after a few days and see this! Glad you are better. How many Bees died from stinging you?
  17. Fantastic news, again. I'm available to be Godfather.
  18. Tell me you know any Miano's and I'll start playing the theme to The Twilight Zone.
  19. Indian Falls Lake used to be a trailer park. The family sold to a developer and they built McMansions on it. Many great memories from when I was a kid there. I haven't been down to see family for a few years but am going to the reunion in a few weeks in Clarence center. Small world. You could be sitting on the patio there and I would never know.
  20. Yep that's the place Blaque. I still have family that live on Akron Rd. right behind Indian Falls Lake. My Uncle Pete and cousin Mark owned the Falcon Crest Restaurant at Indian Falls.
  21. South of Buffalo is where I spent many summers and caught my first Sunfish. Indian Falls, Batavia area.
  22. Gets the adrenal glands pumping for sure. I saw a hammer handle take a Walleye bigger than it was and refused to let go, Pike are nuts.. My buddy was fast with the net and got them both. That was fun to see.
  23. A pal asked me to look for a rebuilt or running 1982 305/228HP Mercruiser. He bought a nice boat except it has a cracked exhaust manifold and a cracked block. This a clean boat for any year. Someone put it away wet. I know there is a bevy of information and a network of marine guys here so maybe we can get him a replacement Mercruiser. He paid what the mint tandem trailer with surge breaks and new rubber is worth. This thread might have to go into classifieds, mods just let me know. Thanks to all.
  24. Professional quality. Keep up the great work and post more. My favorite is the pic of the graffiti covered concrete pier with the beautiful natural scene behind it. Modern world encroaching onto the beauty of nature. I don't know if that is what you were trying to capture but that's what it says to me. A photo becomes Art when an emotion is felt by the person looking at it no matter what the media is.
  25. What a wonderful report. The time we have with our heroes is priceless. I have been missing my Nono since I was 12. We didn't fish or hunt together but I remember sitting beside him and he would show me all the amazing places there are in the World in an old Rand McNally Atlas that predated WW2. Cherish the time you can spend with them, you can never get it back. I have the Atlas and it is my most treasured thing I have above all else. Start planning a return trip now.
