  1. Sorry you can't get any relief from the thing. Does dry air help i.e. Arizona. I know it helped my bones and it did seem to help with Ticha's breathing somewhat. She loves biking but she gets short of breath doing it here and in Florida, in Mesa she could ride for long periods without getting too winded. 40 years ago when folks said "If you don't have your health you have nothing." I didn't really know what they meant then but sure do now. When I took my very early pension from the plant at 45 years young I might have taken an extra strength Tylenol once in a while for my busted up knees. Now I can't fit in one hand all the stuff I am on. Pain creams plus 2 needles a day. You also take care and stay safe.
  2. Back in 1990 I rented an apt. on the 36th floor in Hamilton's tallest building in the middle of downtown. I once had inadvertently brought home a carbon monoxide detector. I went out on the balcony took some readings and it showed an average of 100 parts per million of C0 in the atmosphere. It was a hot, humid smoggy day. If C0 readings were 35 PPM at the plant several precautions had to be taken for anyone to work in the area. The human body wasn't designed to live within the environment we have created or should I say destroyed.
  3. I value your opinion Dutch, I don't always agree however. If you think it's a valuable read I am going to read it. I love your home made imogee. I am famous or was for doing my shoulder shrug when the poop hit the fan and it was sort of my "I told you so" body language." As well as many other statements with a simple shrug of my shoulders. It took me longer to type this post than read the article, twice.
  4. My wife suffered badly from asthma when I met her 28 years ago. It was terrible for her and I felt helpless. Many times I thought she was going to turn blue and just stop breathing. Now and for the last 20 years her puffers best before date goes by and she hardly has had to use it. Thank God she is almost cured. The only difference from then and now is that we moved from the heart of downtown in Hamilton on the 18th floor of a high rise to moving out to the country. What a co incidence eh? Do you feel better when you are out in the country?
  5. I don't know who I listen to and what I read is to believed these days. I didn't read the article. If I don't recognize the author or something on a reputable news source I tend to not bother. Even when a reputable news source publishes something we can't tell if it's legit. Fake websites passing themselves off as real.
  6. I've always promised not to do 2 things on the Internet, 1) Practice law and 2) Practice medicine. MJIG, I'm sure there are many medical sites that will answer your exact questions. I have some answers I think are correct but won't even offer them up as that is how rumours start. Someone here reads it and repeats it to 2 more people but don't say that they read it from what a retired Steelworker on a fishing website wrote, and before you know it we have started a rumour.
  7. Terry, when and where did Premier Ford say "go fish."?
  8. My dyslexia has really kicked in. Oh my oh my.
  9. Spell ckic says its a werd. Of course I don't get it, again. LOLROTFLMAOWADUMA.
  10. Give the man a break. I'm pleasantly surprised at how well he is doing his job. I can't say that about the guy in Washington. He doesn't have a fiddlers que about what's going on. Thank goodness for Mike Pence, I'm impressed with his leadership. He seems to be the adult in the room. I will stop at that before Art stops me, again. I did our 10 day shopping Tuesday. I didn't notice the arrows taped on the floors of the aisles until I was done. One way only, that way you don't pass anyone, duhhhh. You don't know what ya don't know till ya know it. My wife is still working with her 2 buck an hour raise, better than a kick in the arse. Her cosmetic dept. is basically closed. She is the highest paid store greeter. No more than 15 customers in the pharmacy at any given time, she does the counting and directing them to the things they need . th here is always the other 1% of idiots. There must be plenty of masks available to our hospital workers. The local hospital donated some masks to her store. She brought me home 2. I sent them back because I knew I had a box of disposable dust makes here and found them the other day. I kept a few and sent her to the store with the rest. They were using home made masks a Mom of one of the staff made for the staff. This is me reaching for acigarette, we both quit today.
  11. Whom ever, or is it who? I never know, anyway the guy that thought carpeting in a fishing boat was a good idea should be brought back from his grave and re killed. The other thing I was warned about a vinyl floor was it gets hot. In my boat no shoes no ride, I know many guys go bear foot and they have the hook scars in their feet to show for it. If my posts get a bit sketchy we both quit smoking today, never a better time than when we are facing the possible end of our human race as we know it. 27 hours and counting but who's keeping track? I'm actually surprised how bad it hasn't been so far. Using the nicotine spray today. They suggest no more than 4 sprays per hour, I'm up to max. For some reason it's 2 AM and I'm full of energy, sleep tonight? I don't think so. As far as your 1st Mate liking the sleepers Hack Fisherman then you must like them as well. Happy wife et all. We love early model StarCrafts, ours is a 94'.
  12. It's not going to work canoecarrier. What is not clear to me is some of the language concerning boat launches and marinas. Some county directives say ALL PUBLIC LAUNCHES AND MARINAS CLOSED. Other counties say ALL LAUNCHES AND MARINAS CLOSED. My question is if it doesn't specify the word "public" does that mean private launches are not to be used as well? I have a few friends out here that have private launches right at their lakefront properties. Can they or I use them to launch? Up until reading the letter from the MOT I would say yes, now I;m not positive. Then you wonder why our county of only 45,000 people has 100 lawyers.
  13. And I thought I was going to see a thread telling of someone's death. Tragedy is a word to describe something a bit more serious than cancelling a fishing derby. Even those that are going to lose big money that the event generates I would say it is sad but tragic it is not.
  14. That has been in place for months now. It's a 14 day full isolation. The real tough part is they are asking travelers returning to go straight home, no grocery shopping. That sure is tough if you have been away for even just a week let alone like when Mom and Dad were Snowbirds, the fridge was not just empty it wasn't even plugged in. If you don't have someone to get you some stuff it's a tough situation. Most of our citizens have come home from abroad, some are still stranded in places like Nepal because they can't afford the ridiculous air fare if you can find flights and connections. Just today I read an article on CBC news where a kid from Niagara finally got flights home from Nepal. 3 grand for airfare. Something like 75 people were sharing a space in a hostel designed for 50. I wonder how social distancing works there? He shared a selfie with a bus full of happy Canucks coming home, not a single person had anything over their mouths. They should all be tested as well as a 14 day quarantine.
  15. Does it take an "official order" to force someone to use common sense? Eventually it may have to go that way unfortunately. If people used common sense there would be no reason countries have to impose Marshal Law with the treat of being shot dead if anyone breaks it. My wife now has a letter in her purse from her CEO saying she is travelling because she is a essential worker. Why would she need the thing I'm wondering? Oh wait, maybe because our provinces Captains of government and industry are already discussing what a travel ban would look like.
  16. I'm holding off buying stuff I don't need. Plus I am a touchy feely buyer. I might order online but not until I have seen it in a bricks and mortar place or someone I know has one. I am going to predict they will be selling all manner of consumer goods at or even below cost just to generate cash in the near future. Remember, try and support our local Mom and Pop tackle shops rather than the big US owned corporations. They will need us more now than ever before if they are still in business. I need to check if Bill's Bait and Fishing World in Hamilton are selling online.
  17. Terry. To get through this and come out the other end successfully I think it will take more than what we are comfortable with. As far as me trying to impose my moral compass on others, yep guilty. Isn't that what our legislators and religious leaders do day in and day out?
  18. You said as long as you aren't breaking the law it's OK? Our government can't legislate common sense. I urge you to re access your decision. Someone put it this way. "Assume you are a carrier and everyone you come into contact with is your Mother and Father and your children." Would you still insist on going fishing?
  19. The Ontario Gov has been doing a good job but they got this one wrong. Personally I hope they change their policy and suspend the fishing seasons for now. Just stay home everyone, please. It's frustrating when many do as they are asked like go into work everyday risking bringing home the virus to a healthy family or just sticking it out at home. Then a few, including some here, insist on going fishing. It's not just the spread of the virus the Stay Home helps minimize it's just being out on the roads, rivers and lakes we don't want you all to be simply because any accidents that involve travel or sporting activities puts a strain on our 1st responders from the Police right down to an emergency room nurse. Why can't some people get that? If I see you fishing out on the lake in front of our shack your getting the middle finger from me.
  20. I will say it again. JUST STAY HOME. It can't be any simpler.
  21. Good looking barge there Hack Fisherman. What make is it? That transom looks familiar but I don't want to guess. What I like about my boat is it is so convertible. I seldom go out with more than 2 of us. If it's 3 it's for Perch only. I take the casting butt seat out of the bow and put in one of the swivel seats, then only have 2 seats at the helm for traveling and 1 on the bow. That way my 1st mate can sit in the bow seat and monitor the 4 trolling rods while I drive and monitor the electronics. A perfect set up for us. You can never have enough storage space. Personally I would chuck the sleeper seats completely and install removable swivel seats. When you get an 18 footer you would have wished you got a 19 footer etc. etc. etc. Good luck on your upgrade. Good plan.
  22. You have a big job ahead of you. What are you planning on doing to make it more fish oriented? I also was trying to decide if I should rip the carpet all out. If I do I will also choose Nautolex to replace it. Highly recommended by many of the 100,000 members of iboats.com. I don't think I will be doing much on the boat tomorrow, we got about 3"s of snow this afternoon and into the evening. It is more snow than we have had all winter long. I have to smirk when I read folks are bored stiff staying at home. I have a good weeks worth of chores I can do around inside our little shack and I know everyone has things that they can do as well. And that doesn't include what I can do with the boat. We just choose not to do them. Now I have snow to make an excuse not to detail our boat. When I bought the boat in 2008 it was early in the season and the water was rough here on Erie where we live so I didn't take it out for a few days and that was brutal. A pal was here and when my wife got home we were sitting in the boat having a pop and listening to some tunes. She brought home a jug of Rum and made us boat drinks including little umbrellas complete with pineapple slices and all 3 of us sat in it until it having proper boat drinks until it was time for dinner. I will never forget those few hours. And I never burned a drop of fuel!!! A few neighbors walked past and must have thought we were bonkers. Here is our 1994 Star Craft 190 Superfisherman 190. I keep her as clean as possible. The pic was taken in 2019.
  23. Yep, 20th century American and Canadian business goal, production, production and above all more production, no matter the cost. It took us a while to catch up to Japanese business philosophies and for all our post WW2 era managers to retire that were all production driven. Managers bonuses were based on output only so therein lay the problem. Also their salaries were based on the numbers of employees they were responsible for so we had thousands of workers told by their front line supervisors to hide for the duration of their shifts. That's what I found when I joined the workforce in 73' at 19 years old. Rather than to make 100 widgets then scrap 20 make 80 quality widgets and only if they are pre sold. At our plant mid to late 90's we had a few hundred acres of finished coils sitting there rusting. Then slit them all and charge them back into The Steelmaking vessels as scrap. No wonder companies Too Big to Fail filed for bankruptcy protection. So what I am trying to say Paul it doesn't matter any more how many cars are pushed out of the lines everyday, it's about the quality of cars made and hopefully with buyers waiting for them. The old economic formula in business was COST PLUS PROFIT=PRICE. Today it's PRICE MINUS COST= PROFIT OR LOSS.
  24. Would he also be your Son in Law? I think that's close to what my ex's father called me, my daughters Italian husband. They were card carrying Scottish Orangemen complete with parade every year. I bet my grand fathers were spinning in their graves when I attended my 1st Orangemen's parade.
  25. Who here do you all think will be the 1st to gain 25 pounds or more by staying home and cooking all day? I could put on a few pounds. I've lost 35 pounds in the last 4 years, mostly muscle mass unfortunately. No reason why. 173.5 today. I don't remember being less than 185. I was that in grade 11 playing HS Football. 205 in grade 12. Stayed at 205 for the next 18 years then I blew up to 235. Weigh yourself all and lets see who gained the most weight. Warning: Cooking will lead to eating.
