If we did get those winds I would stick a sign in the lawn after the storm was over saying, "WATERFRONT LOT FOR SALE, PILE OF BUILDING MATERIALS INCLUDED"

I learned a few years back that there are over 1000 different variations of Black Flies in Ontario. Some bite and leave a nasty sting, some draw blood some just bother you like the huge type I experienced on a small lake east of Parry Sound a few years ago in May. We get a type here on Erie that just swarm to the light and cover everything the next AM in dead black fly corpses. They just make a mess. Every year I found myself picking black flies off the front of our vehicles chrome and paint all summer long. I came up with a good system to help keep the front of our vehicles a fly free zone. Spray cooking oil all over the front of the cars and trucks, everywhere. When it's time to wash the vehicles the flies wipe right off. It's so simple and it works.

For what it's worth. I'm told that 2 buddy's went out yesterday fishing on Erie. When they got back to the ramp an OPP ghost car and 2 constables are waiting for them. They told the Cops that they live together under the same roof. ID says either one guy is lying or one guy hasn't changed his address. No fine, just a warning. My question is it a fineable offence?

If it's not far from your house we should be asking you. But let me guess. You just moved to the area, now I'm jealous. I see your a newbie J rock. On behalf of the members here on OFC welcome aboard. Please read the rules carefully. It is important that you understand them too. There are a bunch of good guys and a few gals here. Being not far from Nord Bay you are surrounded by good fishin' and a World class Musky fishery in the West Arm of Lake Nipissing. N.B. No one named me spokesman for welcoming new members

I went to our TSC store to pick up a new BBQ curbside and they handed me a brochure for the Huquavarna Automower 310. Does anyone have one of the robot lawnmowers? Do they work or are they a gimmick until all the kinks are engineered. I do know Husquavarna makes quality products. This particular item is selling for $999.99 CDN. I finally after months of shopping for a new BBQ I finally found the best deal at TSC. Anyway a 6 burner, 50,000 BTU unit with the stainless steel lid on wheels for $399.99 plus HST. It is also NG convertible. A 50,000 BTU 6 burner unit from Home Depot that says WEBER on the lid is going for, ready $3500.00 plus tax. Yes the lid is heavier, the metal is heavier, a 5 year limited warranty not a 3 year but 3100 bucks heavier, not in my opinion Green font now? Thanks, Johnny D/Selkirk On.

Replacing stolen Operators Card
Old Ironmaker replied to Dave Bailey's topic in Non-Outdoors Open Discussion
Yep, now I recall. Took the course and test at a local Marine dealer in Hagersville 10 years ago. I was told that was the last time that this Marine dealer offered the course. When someone takes the test online who issues the card? Taking the test for a 2nd time online isn't a bad idea to brush up on laws etc. Since I took the course I got a number where I could act as a moderator for someone taking the test at home online. Lord only knows where I wrote it down. -
Natural Gas To Propane Conversion
Old Ironmaker replied to DanD's topic in Non-Outdoors Open Discussion
I will ask my brother who does HVAC and gas fitting for a living. -
Does anyone know if the Port Maitland pier is open. Also the ramp there, is it opened? Our friend Huzzaba was asking me.

Double standards rules the day. On a tour of a Ford plant today in Michigan guess who was the only person that refused to wear a mask?

Show us a pic of your fishing boat
Old Ironmaker replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
Brian is always happy to help a fellow fisherman. I have a few pals that own Princecrafts. The only thing that isn't great in my mind is that the transoms are low in some models. Water splashes into the water wells more than others. So much so that one guy I know installed a 2nd bilge pump under the water well just for that. Other than that great boats. That 91' 680T Ranger of Tomcats is a beauty. And Arts Bass boat looks showroom new, I wouldn't expect anything less. -
Fortunately the pilot made it out alive. One would think he would be the best witness. Often the individual that was the operator in an emergency scenario is the worst witness, next are eye witnesses which are often the worse witness to an accident or fatality. Take for example the driver of the car Princess Diana was killed in. He lived and can't recall a single thing.

Replacing stolen Operators Card
Old Ironmaker replied to Dave Bailey's topic in Non-Outdoors Open Discussion
If you wrote your card number down it is easy to get one renewed. Or should I say easier, dealing with anything government related is not easy. Take a photo on your phone or call them on your camera. It's 2020. -
Yes, chips make a great breading as well. Nothing wrong with using your hands and packing the Panko tight into whatever you are frying. Makes fantastic fried chicken and pork too.

I just watched the video of the wet market. I might lose 10 lbs just by watching it. I don't get it, even the Indonesian guy interpreting hasn't eaten Rat. My brain is reeling. They won't eat Cat. The one lady doesn't eat Dog anymore since 2 of their pet mutts went missing. Call me small minded, I wouldn't even kiss an Indonesian woman on the lips after watching that.

You are our flying guy around here Wayne. Do you think by the way the jet climbed slowly then tumbled to the ground there was an inflight stall?

Looks good Ron. Hot Italian sausages not mild. When you are cooking those hot Italian sausages toast some Fennel seed in the same pan you are cooking the sausages. Very Calabrese or southern Italy. The sour dough bread is OK, it should be a dense Calabrese loaf. Those are the round Italian loaves of bread, even better toasted and rubbed with a garlic clove a drizzle of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVO) and a dash of oregano. That's the real deal garlic bread Iti style. Mom and Noni would split an entire loaf of bread and put it under the broiler then do the garlic rub, oil and a sprinkle of dry Oregano.

CHCH TV announced that part of phase 1 of getting back to normal The Ontario Provincial Gov is allowing boat ramps to open. Now what? I can only go fishing with someone living at the same address as me. The last statement is mine and mine alone. Otherwise I won't be following social distancing guidelines, no?

We used to get rabbit from a Family friend that raised them on the farm, that's where we got the annual pig that gave us all the home made salumi (anything cured in a casing), sausages and prosciutto. If my father could I used to joke he would use the hair on the pig to make a hairbrush. Anyway those rabbits were fantastic. There was a lady out where we live that raised rabbit that were pretty darn good. There was fat on their hind quarters. She has stopped raising them due to her health and age. I have not found anyone that raises them since. My wife got me the 1st time I stewed a rabbit, she said she had a hair on her plate. I do rabbit the same every time. Cut into pieces using my poultry shears which I also use to prune shrubbery. Dredged in flour, browned then removed from the pot. Add garlic and onion cook for a while then deglaze all the tasty bits with a good red wine. Put the rabbit back in with celery, carrots and mushrooms. Fill the pot with wine until everything in it is covered in red wine. Bring to a boil then a rolling simmer until the meat almost falls off the bone, about 2 hours. Then add Yukon Gold potatoes when the taters are done the meat is falling off the bone. The secret to the recipe is in the spices which is no longer a secret. Salt, pepper, crushed chili peppers, a few dried bay leaves and a copious amount of smoked hot Hungarian paprika. A dozen fresh Portuguese buns or a loaf of Calabrese bread is a prerequisite.

I don't want to watch that video but I bet I will force myself to watch it. Maybe when my stomach is empty. I will eat almost anything but reptiles. Reptiles are not on the menu around here. I ate snake once in Japan because I didn't know what it was. No it didn't taste like chicken but did taste somewhat like fish. I can't stomach tripe or liver. Only once did I have tripe that was any good. I tasted it because I didn't want to disrespect the wise guy that cooked it and was surprised it was very good.

The only curb side pick up I know of involves an illegal date with a John.

I don't want to be the C-19 police but what are you doing out shopping for fly tying stuff? Oh, sorry, flies are essential to fly fisherman so it's all good. I am about to lose it today with this social distancing, my effed up back and knee and not smoking cigarettes. We have some stupid stick cigarettes but don't want to fire one up as it may trigger me smoking again. I've read every book and magazine we have in our shack and watched every DVD, VHS and Beta Max in this joint more than a few times. Every movie offered on Bell Expressvue we have already rented. I detailed my truck and Tichas Kia, really detailed them. Used a toothbrush to get into the bezels around the instrument clusters. The vehicles were only cleaner coming off the line. I have sharpened every hook on every lure I have here, many are in my storage unit in Hamilton and I'm ready to go into the city and get them as well as about 200 DVD's and my acrylic paints, brushes and some blank canvases. I have re caulked the shower, around the toilet and bathroom sink, around the tile back splash. I have run out of chores to do. Spread 15 bags of black loam on the flower gardens with a bad back. Slow and steady. Took a toothbrush to all the remotes for the TV and Stereo. That was all today that normally would have taken me a month to do prior to smoke cessation. But I haven't had a puff of tobacco for 40 days now and I am proud of us both. I am up to 185 lbs, this AM up from 170. I lost over 35 lbs in the last 4 or 5 years for no reason. Mostly muscle mass. Tich has gained weight as well, she doesn't believe me when I tell her she is a beauty regardless. What are we supposed to say? 4 years ago in San Francisco. She's a keeper.

I thought I saw 2 ejected and was right. Capt. Casey unfortunately didn't make it. She led a very interesting life at a young age. Started working in journalism and ended up in the Canadian Military as a PR rep. Sad on all counts. Some years back when they had a proper air show at Monroe Airport in Hamilton the Snowbirds flew directly over our place so low that I could see the pilots faces. Impressive.

Oh you funny guy. I was always the young punk busting old timers chops, look at me now. Pay back be a bugger.

Back to Doug. Make a list of stuff you won't eat, it is shorter than the list you will eat.

I got the same macina in the will. I am afraid to use it as machinery and me do not go well together. I also inherited a sausage machine Dad made. He actually made one for each of us 3 sons. Mine sat for years until I got brave and decided to plug mine in. On about the 2nd pound of pork shoulder the drive shaft broke. I could see a tiny weld repair where it broke and very tight grain where the steel didn't harden enough. I took it to the lab at work and they confirmed a micro fisher where it snapped. I had it welded but am afraid to use it. It's more than a thing that turns big pieces of meat into tiny pieces of meat. I think I will wait a few years and hand it down to my nephew. Rick, good to see you back. Out for good behavior and time served? That might be funny but there was a guy missing from The Buffalo Bill discussion forum for 18 months and that was exactly where he was, Erie County lock up. Rick we are close enough that you can take some criticism from me, I hope. That dirty perch with green olives on it doesn't look appetizing at all, sorry. On a positive note, 35 days not a single puff of a cigarette actually not a puff of anything. JD out.
