  1. There are idiots out there posing as Police. An OPP spokesman said: “It’s bizarre,” she explained. “We have no idea why. Are they wannabes? Are they power tripping? Are they doing it for other sinister reasons? We have no idea.” I know why they are doing it, they have lost it staying indoors 24/7 and keeping social distancing for well over a month. We are about to have those individuals dealing with mental health issues that are going to be filling emergency rooms. I know personally a few friends that have never had a panic attack are starting to get them now. I've had a few and they are not fun.
  2. OK while we are here can someone explain what the difference between The United Kingdom (UK) and Great Britain is ? Why doesn't someone from England or Scotland say just that rather than "I'm from the UK or Great Britain." That still doesn't tell me where a Brit is from. Being from Ireland is for another long complicated discussion.
  3. Cop's interpretation of the law is as bad as some Judges and Lawyers interpretation. Some years back OPP out here were ticketing owners of vehicles that had the hitch balls on their vehicles and still do I'm sure. It is not against the Hwy Traffic Act to travel with the hitch ball on a vehicle. I am regularly reminded I'm breaking the law from some citizen with good intensions. Be careful Cisco and Nlpaintballer. If you guys keep it up Art is going to close this thread just because of you two.
  4. Where's the cheese? Please don't tell me that orange coloured stuff is cheese. There is however a place for it in our society but 1 place it shouldn't be is on a magnificent sangwidge like that Brian. Fake cheese allowed on 1) grilled cheese or 2) cheeseburgers.
  5. Thanks for the links to the tunes. Yep spending as much as you want on a new vehicle today is boring. I know my 9 year old truck and her 4 year old car are fuel injected but I can't tell by looking. I've never had the shroud off my truck engine in the 9 years I've owned it and have no idea how to take it off. There's no reason to take it off, boring and worse yet impersonal. When we ran our cars you could tell who was coming before you even saw the car just by the sound of the exhaust. The very 1st thing we did when we bought a European sportscar was to change the exhaust to dual ANSA or dual PECO. Nothing like 6 or more Triumphs and MG's running down the highway with tops down on the way to Sherkston beach on Lake Erie on a Saturday or Sunday. I never got into the muscle cars back then. Close friends that have done well have a few. I think a very close friend has close to 80 grand in his 65' Malibu. Guess what he drove in High School? I've made a hand shake deal to buy my cousin's 72' TR-6 in very good condition at 10 times more than what I paid for mine in 73 in grade 12. The 1st thing I need to do is change the exhaust to dual Ansa's or Peco's if they still make them. edit: Both Peco and Ansa still make exhaust systems for sportscars.
  6. Talk about hi jacking a thread, sorry OP. edit: You are the OP Bama' Now I don't feel as bad.
  7. The Learning Channel? have never paid much attention to the tax statement. we just have it set up for automated quarterly payments out of the Canadian account at Scotia. I think it is way too high but then I do the eagles to maple leafs discount and I feel a little better. The main reason that I think it is high is that for the tax we have hardly any service. About the only thing is supposedly fire and police, but we are so far out the cottage would be ashes before they got here. we have no water, sewage ...no anything. I am with you, I think the $750 ticket is a rumor that got fed on the internet. I have close relatives that live all across the U.S.A. including Honolulu. Each and everyone of them swear on a stack of Bibles that their county has the highest tax rate in the free World. Then I show them ours and they change the subject. Services, services? What are services? I have had to call 911 twice for what turned out to be very serious. 2 volunteer Firefighters were here in 20 minutes and the on call ambulance was here in 30 minutes. We all knew that before signing on the dotted line to finalize the sale. I don't think you and I are the only ones to question this now infamous 750 buck ticket. The pic has absolutely nothing to do with C-19. I posted it because I like it.
  8. I actually took the time to listen to a few of Czarface's ditty's. Actually not bad. I suddenly had the urge to drive in downtown Hammertown like we did back in the 70's. You would shine your mags real nice soak the tires in Armor All and see that chrome reflection spin in the wall to wall storefront windows while only your left hand on the wheel, slumped over to the right and just looking cool. It would also play well driving my 1983 white 560 SEC Benz with the factory AMG package with the custom 18" front and 20" rear 3 spokers. Of course you had to detail the red brake calipers. I can't see you cruzein' on a Friday night in your snowmobile or behind your team of dogs to that music in downtown Moosenee. You don't get -40C in the O.C. Every generation will have cruzer car lovers. I do have to say though that the Millennials don't have anywhere the same numbers of car lovers than those that came before them. Many kids today could care less about what they drive and that is if they drive. The drag and road track out (Toronto Motorsport Speedway 2 to 3 hours from T.O.) here always had line ups of little tuners that had more wattage power than horsepower to see what they could do on any given weekend. Not any longer. Those little Honda, Beemers, V.W.'s and Nissans painted electronic lime green are few and far between, they are all Dad's today.
  9. What is the acronym LTC stand for? I am sure that the provinces and feds look at the cost of stockpiling anything for the future and weigh the costs associated with it at budget time and decide not to because there just isn't enough tax dollars in the coffers. Those that are complaining that our legislators should have stockpiled will be the 1st to complain their taxes went up to cover it. The zoning will be on your annual tax roll, our tax statement says we are zoned "hazardous agriculture seasonal residential." My wife tells me I believe everything initially because I'm a Libra. My scales are tipped towards the $750.00 ticket doesn't exist.
  10. It comes on our Bell Satelite TV package. One of the best things about it is that there are zero commercials during the movies. As I type TCM just finished showing the original version of the James Cane novel "The Postman Only Rings Twice." Staring Lana Turner, John Garfield and Cecil Kellaway 1946. The more modern version of the movie had Jessica Lange in the Lana Turner role and Jack Nicolson in the John Garfield role (1981). I know this trivia because the host told viewers that when the movie ended. A very steamy movie for it's time. Now the host is describing the next movie. I remember all these actors going back to silent movies as Mom was a veracious reader and movie buff. We had channel 11 CHCH from Hamilton back before colour TV hit our home and they showed the old classic movies almost every night. We would watch them together and she taught me about who the actors were in detail.
  11. The Lives and Deaths of Sonny Liston. When I 1st watched it I posted the suggestion for all to see it. It isn't a documentary just about boxing. I highly recommend it. I have watched about every genre of motion pictures including a few silent movies. Thank goodness for TCM, Turner Classic Movies. Everything from the silent movie era to about the mid 70's. I like it as a host talks about the upcoming movie and often has a sit down with some of the actors in the previous movie. Some actors are in their 90's now and still have tid bits about filming the picture. My wife said if the internet and all the TV feeds go down there will be civil unrest on our streets such as we have never seen before.
  12. Of course it is less likely to get the virus when you and perhaps a spouse is the only people in a few hundred acres or more of space. The Gov discourages people traveling from highly densely populated cities to rural areas as they are more likely to pass it on up in God's country. Also the more vehicles on the road the more likely accidents will occur then the accident victims are going to need 1st responders and the resources associated with an accident. This is how I understand the no travel ban advice, it isn't law, yet. Our property is listed as "Seasonal Residential." No one including our politicians can tell us what exactly seasonal residential really means. There was a time about 12 years ago someone started the rumour that the Real Estate Police dressed in black riot garb were going to take you from your warm beds in the middle of the night and throw you out to the Coywolves. Our town councilor assured everyone no one is getting tossed from their cottages or homes. What the definition for a cottage isn't even clear. Some of the new cottages being built out here are 3500 sqft or larger McMansions not Grandma and Grandpas little 2 bedroom cottage with a little woodstove. In our neighbourhood 80% of the seasonal residential homes are lived in year round. Some go to warmer climates for the winter, some like us are away only a month during the winter, sometimes. I would love to be in court when that $750.00 ticket is brought forward. The guy can call Premier Doug Ford as a witness. Johnny D/hunkered down in Selkirk ON. 9 days no smoking so far. We are actually going to stop counting. That is a good thing. Feel pretty good to, not great but good.
  13. We often produced steel at a loss when the market was glutted by cheap Chinese and or Brazilian slabs. They weren't the only offshore players. We just stock piled billets and slabs knowing it could be finished after prices rebounded or sold it at a loss to keep our long time customers such as GM and Chrysler happy rather than to lose them forever to a different supplier using cheap offshore slabs they finished. The oil industry selling at a loss isn't unique in manufacturing. It's a tad more complicated than that as both the Canadian and US governments would get involved but tells the basic story in Readers Digest form.
  14. I post this every spring I think. We had our 1st bug attack here on the shore of Erie today. I do this every year for 10 years and it works. When the bugs are out by the billions they can turn the front of your vehicles jhet black. I slather the front of my vehicles with Pam oil spray. Everything including some of the hood. You just wipe off the dead critters with a clean micro cloth then wash or respray. In years gone by I was picking black bugs out of the grill etc. in July. Not any longer.
  15. We had frozen slush and snow on the deck yesterday AM. This afternoon we got our 1st bug attack of the year. We went for a walk after dinner and I ate about 1000 of those little black bastardo's. A tip for bug season for the front of your vehicles. I spray Pan cooking spray all over the front of my wife's Kia and my Silverado. No matter how many bugs get splattered onto the bumpers, grill, headlights and mirrors etc. they just wipe off with a clean micro cloth then wash or re spray.
  16. Yes I agree. I fished once when I was around 7 or 8. The next time I picked up a rod I was 23 at my future ex wife's family cottage on Nipissing. I am left handed and had to use a spinning reel upside down. Then I learned that the handle can be switched to the other side. They must have had a good laff. I've been fishing ever since and am about 1/4 of the way to knowing everything there is about fishing, maybe 1/3rd. Fishing is a lot like crime. You can't start late in life or learn it in a classroom. The late part maybe but I wouldn't wait too long.
  17. Sand, primer, 2 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear. Never have to clean aluminium again.
  18. I didn't see any ripping. I personally do not miss any hip hop hippy pants hanging down below the arse crack, backward hat wearin' hooligan music. I actually can't miss something I just ignore. If someone dislikes something just ignore it and move on.
  19. It's tough enough for lawyers and Judges to agree on what is legal and what isn't I have found that Cops can be totally clueless about the law.
  20. Thanks for the dough recipes. I have hand crank pasta maker Dad handed down to me. He brought it from Italy in 1960. I have never used it but remember watching Mom make home made pasta with it. I'm afraid I will get it gungy, it looks brand new and it's over 60 years old. I love home made pasta over dry hands down.
  21. Stay the Blazes Home. Love it. Now with the James Taylor guy.
  22. Thanks Smitty, all we have been getting from friends, family and my OFC family is encouragement and we certainly thank all for it. We have been heeding advice and it is very helpful. This time I am motivated by $$ and my wife, for my wife her motivation is her health and I. It doesn't matter why one wants to quit as long they truly are motivated enough to quit. Like I said for me it's money. 2 packs a day at $18.50 pac is $13,505,00 a year. $13,505.00 a year and going up is not chump change.
  23. I was going to ask how you made the pizza dough. Now I don't have to I watched the video. I do not bake so am not in a position to say anything about that dough. It looks to be more like pastry dough but like I said what do I know. I know there is no way I am going to toss that in the air and come down in one piece. There must be more than one way to bake a Cat. 8 days no smoke. My wife as well. And we are still both alive. If you don't see me here for over a week send the Coroner's wagon.
  24. Yes, curbside me a dozen. Bring your rod I think there are some fish in close to shore. Just bang on the door, I may be taking a nap.
