  1. Whatever you do Geoff don't go on YouTube and watch sinus surgery, trust me.
  2. I'm scheduled for sinus surgery in November, could have had it in July I said no way I'm loosing part of my summer fishing and Golfing, no way. Fought Sinusitis for well over 10 years off and on now it's on everyday and night. I have empathy for you Geoff, I share in your pain. It kept me up all night, feels like I'm drowning sometimes and other times it's like I'm eating sand. It sucks man. You get better too, what a crew we have here lately. I'll be 63 hopefully but you yungins should be spitin' nails and, $hin' lightning.
  3. Very neat, especially for what they want for some of those bricks you Musky guys call tackle. Even the Pink grubs in the video, those scented ones that fall apart after 4 or 5 good hits. Work great but small fish like them too.
  4. ^ beat me too it. A good smart charger will show which battery is pooched too. I just bought one on sale at CTC and it says it can recover a bad battery, I don't know about that.
  5. That my dear friend is funny, I almost spit my caveve all over the screen. Good one pisano mio.
  6. Is all you guys here only want to fish or what? That's a beauty of a list there too Mistaredone. Anyone that needs someone to carry their tackle and bags (almost said rod, nope) I am available anytime of the year, just cover my trip cost. I will take care of my own food.
  7. I have never fished B.C. I will have to add it to the list. I did get to fish Costa Rica at a guys little place there and was originally from Hamilton. He had the pizzeria down the street from Mom and Pop's place where I grew up. Best Pizza in Costa Rica. I better hurry up and win a lottery before I hit my best before date.
  8. I have 2 hanging on my shed. 1 is smaller than the other. 1 was in new condition when I bought it at a garage sale. I was told by an oldtimer it is a Halibut rod and reel. He can have one at no charge, free, nada other than covering the shipping cost. Let me know via PM. I am so happy no one was injured or worse. I can't imagine the sence of loss we would feel if everything we had was lost in a house fire. Things that aren't worth anything to anyone than us such as family photos my wife has that were her Great-Great Grandfather and Mothers dating back to the invention of the camera. Only stuff compared to loosing a loved one but it must hurt badly. I see you are in Pembroke, we had a hunt/fish camp just outside of Westmeath on Lake Coulange a section of the Ottawa River. I know the area all to well, beautiful country. We ended up there in the 80's when one of the old timers from the plant retired there. He was interned in Camp Pettawawa during the War, actually with my Grand Father. Even though he was a prisoner and born in Canada he loved the area so much he went back there to hunt and fish ever since the end of the War, crazy. And a member of our crew from Hamilton loved it so much he and his wife retired to Westmeath. I wonder if the old hotel is still there in Fort Coulange on the Quebec side? Man I have stories.
  9. Where did that post go? I'll call you latter today Rick. There it is, weird stuff sometimes on this site.
  10. You have to get better man. We've talked about my experiences blowing out both knees and lost count at 10 surgeries. I might get my ass down to Toronto. I'm not saying the surgeon you had and the rehab folks aren't as good as down south but I am saying get another opinion Rick. 7 months for a reconstruction is not good. Google Teddy Bridgewater's injury in training camp in Minnesota last year. It was so bad they thought he might loose his leg. He's back on the field in limited OTA's a year latter. Even back in the day they put a 8" zipper and a week in the Hospital for just a MCL and a cast for 8 weeks same timeline and a 10" zipper for a ACL over the top reconstruction I was back to work in the Steel Plant after 4 months and 100% full function in a year. I would be seeing someone else just for peace of mind. I thought you were good to go last time we talked. I didn't even ask about the wheel because I just assumed, sorry Rick. What do you call someone that graduated dead last in their medical class? Doctor. Mom's looking good, no DNA test required there, you are definitely her boy. Easy on the Grecian Formula.
  11. Can't help with the box but can tell you we discuss anything from Apples to Zebras and pretty well anything in between. Just remember this is a family oriented site and kids read the threads and posts. No politics or religion, that's for other sites not this one. Read the rules of engagement for the forum and you will be good to go. Welcome aboard. I love yelling" GET THE NET!!!!", that means I have a fish on or snagged something.
  12. I had a huge rooster tail on my Humminbird when I installed it a few years ago. Went on their site and talked to a customer service tech. They actually sell a rubber insert that fills the void in the bracket. Humminbird said they are free but rather than wait for it from the US I bought one for 5 bucks at the Marine dealer. Buddy had the same issue on a new Garmin and he simply filled the void with 3M 4200. His rooster tail went away as well. I have a Bird sonar and a Garmin on the dash. I adjusted both while in the water one day with my dive mask, PFD and fins on then buddy took the boat out at WOT. Got both to read at high speed and accurate trolling. No other boat traffic anywhere close that day and had my dive flag with me.
  13. I know you know what you mean by a wet socks fish. That makes 1 of us. All the fish I catch are always wet coming out of the drink. Looked at Windfinder today, we said we have to get out here or Lake Ontario which is less than an hour from us. 25 to 60 KPH winds on both freaking lakes for the next 7 days. This spring just sucks. 1st day of summer is next week. Furnace set for 60F and it came on last night and I turn the gas fireplace on every AM and some evenings. I don't leave home without a jacket every day. This should be muscle shirt and shorts time. Maybe I shouldn't call anything I wear these days a muscle shirt, a sleeveless shirt I should say. Down to 185lbs, haven't been that since High School, and not the same 185. Muscleless shirt.
  14. Look at Fish Masters, a member here and a great record of guiding. If no fish he will give a great rate for a second trip. The days of guaranteed fish are long gone. He goes out of St. Catherines this time of year. Then Erie for our monster Walleye latter in the summer I believe.
  15. Ricks needed 4 fish to hit 12lbs. Sir Cranks got ya Brudder.
  16. A long reply was just lost. I will give the Readers Digest edition. The winters we have coupled with Niagara Escarpment and Great Lakes clay is not conducive to concrete, otherwise known as chamenta growing up. My cousins, kid brothers and I have shoveled cement, stone and sand as soon as we were strong enough to lift a shovel that the handles were cut off to fit our height. No concrete in Ontario, even with a sand substrate no guaranteed can be given. If someone gives one they are full of it, especially over clay. I call Bee Ess. That's Bull phoo, simple as that. I have brick pavers here, no chamenta exept 1 small floating pad under a small shed. I could have saved a few thousand, prep, pour and finish in my sleep when I did some walkways years back and I was in chamenta shape.
  17. ketchinany, you are living a bucket list. I have been blessed to travel the world on the companies dime. I never would have afforded it all on my own. The only continent I have never been to is Antarctica, and I'm good with that. Not all glamorous. 3 weeks in Oulu Finland 45 KMs from the Artic circle in November/December, stupid cold, ridiculous frozen to the soul cold. A month in Iran to a Blast Furnace operation in June, average temps 35 C, in the shade, no AC control rooms, not even lunch rooms let alone AC, you eat on the Cast House floor. Always accompanied by a Government "guide" the entire time. No cold beer, not even warm beer unless you want to pay 200 US for 12 and risk 10 years in a Iranian prison. I can wait. As soon as we left the airport and cleared alcohol banned Arab countries air space the flight attendant was pouring copious amounts of booze. I never had a better beer in my life than that one, and it was Budweiser. Mr. Bunker, I can't believe you have a list, especially of fishing destinations. I would love to see a list of places you have already fished. That would be any fisherman bucket list, actually enough magnificent destinations for a long list of fisherman. And Wayne, I always love your philosophies when it comes to life and living. Ketchinany, you have never been to Niagara Falls and you live in Little Italy (Woodbridge)? You aren't alone. I had pals in Hamilton in their 30's that had never been as well. I had relatives in Abruzzi that were in their 50's then that had never been to Rome then.
  18. A great list. I would love to fish the Frazer and hook one of those Dinosaurs as well. I did the Van to San Diego highway 1 runs with my close friend I still see today when we were 19. Bought a 65 Chevy Bell Air in Vancouver for 500 bucks and got all the way to San Diego back to my uncles in Roseville Ca. near Sacramento before it died. Borrowed the money from him to fly back. I think we still owe my father the coin come to think of it. It was New Hips that wrote the original report. Credit where credit is due.
  19. Are you the "Man With the Plan" landry? Nothing better than doing something you would do for free. Not a Musky guy but they sure look like Esox magnets to me. Get in touch with Dan Columby and get him to try them, a member here and a highly experienced and respected Nipissing Musky guide. nipissingmuskies.com. If they are as good as they look he will know and will be a great ambassador for your product. Networking is the key to getting a new product out onto the market. I want to see these in every Canadian Tire, Bass Pro, Cabela's and Sail stores across North America. If you could use a partner contact Dragon's Den producers. Why not? I have a buddy who's brother went on there with a better, and ridiculous, Dog pooper scooper. They where the Steelworkers from Hamilton that had a chocolate bar coming out the fake Dogs end unit and Mr. Wonderful ate it. They didn't get a deal but are making some sales for 2 retired guys just because they got 7 minutes of priceless national marketing. Why not, get on the phone.
  20. 10 bucks of gas would get me to T.O. and half way back to Hamilton in my 70' T-Bird with the 429. I think that was the big Ford power plant then, you would know that Dan. Did you look at the large store front windows to see the chrome wheels reflection in them? Some things transcend generations, like cruising. Canoecarrier, 40 bananas for a trailer plate, not cheap, but only a case of beer. I have been comparing prices to a case of beer or pack of cigarettes for years. I might suggest at that price weld the next one to the trailer rather than a piece of picture wire. Did you really think it would stay there forever? If someone here does find it buy a Lotto ticket.
  21. All great goals. Rick, you men come UP north, you come down south. I'll put you on big Erie smallies and will do my best to get you that 13 pound Pic. jeremy84, if you were born in 84 you have plenty of time to hit all your "to do's". Your last goal is the best you will ever achieve. That is the best to do on any "Bucket List" I have ever seen, read or heard, you go man, excellent.
  22. Just read the thread from 2014 by New Hips about his NWT Pike trip to Taltson Bay. Wow, added that place to my very long "Bucket List". I did cross one off this year as last month I had the opportunity to be invited as a guest and Golf the Blue Monster at Doral in Miami, another Trump course. Long isn't the word for it. A few of my need to do's before I kick that bucket. Take my wife to Europe, she has never been, and go to all the places I wish I could have had her there with me. Surprise a Japanese friend I met on business there 25 years ago. I haven't seen his family or him in 17 years. We just hit it off from the first moment we talked. Go to Cuba and fish the inland fresh water lakes for 10 pound Largemouth, and catch 1. Golf Augusta, where the Masters is held. Even if I win the lotto it is highly unlikely unless I befriend a member or become pals with the Governor of Georgia, if they would let him in. I only know 1 person that played there and he was a guest of a famous Hall of Fame NFL player. Go to the NWT and catch 100 big Pike a day like New Hips and his son did. And get on the water with Dave at his new place as I'm already there. Fish Lake of the Woods and I might as well drive M2B2 nuts for a few days while I'm in his neighbourhood anyway. There is one that is X rated I can't and won't share here. That's about it. Of course I would want to do all this and share it with my beloved, maybe except the X rated one. I have never been one to sky dive, swim with the sharks, bungee jump and all that kind of thing. I always said, "I get paid to get excited I never pay to get excited."
  23. Unbelievable. I believe it so I should say simply amazing. For some reason I don't remember reading this report 3 years back, I would have remembered for sure. That has to be the most productive Pike fishing I have ever heard of f\rom anywhere in my almost 40 years of fishing for them beasts. And I thought we hammered the Pike in the Long Lac area years back, nothing like those numbers and size. The accommodations, scenery and Northern Lights would be worth the trip, world class fishing a major bonus. Thanks to the OP for giving it and thanks to Mr. Moosebunk for bumping it. Man my bucket list is getting long.
  24. I have an expandable rod holder I bought from The Outdoor Store, it's that old and shipped it a few times with both Fed Ex and Canada Post. Also shipped golf clubs to Florida. Cheaper then paying the extra weight on a charter airline.
  25. Nice intro and Ski, for sure. Maybe you could give some beauty tips to the old guy.
