  1. Your tough day is a good day for some.
  2. I'm serious, now spray the front of The Honda with Pam. Maybe for a Japanese vehicle Peanut oil. I'm telling you it works.
  3. We all have different expectations of comfort. My buddy comfort is staying dry and that's it, for me now a 100 buck a night budget motel is ruffing it. Regardless the brochure and Mattice's description is pure scam. New is new, not once new, rustic furniture isn't plastic tubs from Walmart, unless painted to look like wood. Below is there web sites description of Vick Lake, just like Big Cliff described. Scammers. http://www.walleye.ca/outpost_camps/vick_lake/
  4. No kidding eh Tom. Even worse along Lakeshore Rd. Looks like something is on fire as they create twisters darker than smoke. After I wash the car and truck I spray Pam cooking spray across the front of the car and the back of the mirrors. Bugs just rinse off with a hose.
  5. I remember being warm in June and July, I miss those dats this summer. 10C last week at night. Furnace came on. I have been turning on the gas fireplace in the dinning room to take the morning chill off, until 11:00 AM!!!! Wore shorts Saturday for the first time this year.
  6. I swear by the "Weather Rock". Never wrong once.
  7. Yep, we actually live south of Buffalo as well as a large portion of the North East States.
  8. I have dual citizenship so I spell whomever I feel closer to which Nation at any specific time. I just wish I was paid in USD every month. Yesterday I was a maple leaf toting Canuck, Tuesday I will take the Stars and Stripes and raise it with pride. And of course take advantage of the 2 BBQ's in a few days!!!
  9. It's crazy my Buckeye friend. I said in April here I think I saw Noah and his gaggle 2 by 2 floating by.
  10. Where we are on the north shore of Erie it has rained 26 of 30 days in June. And I'm talking micro bursts and thunder not nice Summer sprinkes. Our gardens have never looked so lush. My Pomadora plants are 4' high with dozens of flowers and the dope plants are even bigger (Basil and Oregano). Last year my wife only cut the grass 5 times, today was the 11th cut of the year. I keep track for her fuel costs. There is still some first cuts of hay rotting in the fields out here, no way it will dry and condition it. In Holland Landing they are pumping out fields under 2 feet of water, I can't wait to see the cost of carrots and onions this year, actually anything.
  11. Had been going to Bear Creek since the late 70's when the Donovans had it. Great area. For Musky I have to suggest Nippising's West Arm. Both for size and numbers. Think about hiring Dany Columby for a day to show you the primo areas. Well worth the money.
  12. Another stellar report young Drew. I have come to expect nothing less. Klotz Lake Camp right on #11. That was my first foray into the real north country. Having grown up under the shadows of the Steel Mills in Hamilton I don't think we ever had a ball game on anything other than asphalt or concrete. Wow, real nature. North to us was Guelph. That fishing around Klotz and Flint Lake spoiled us for the next 37 years. We would rope the 12 footers down the Flint River rapids and portage the tinnies, 9.9's, fuel and tackle over Beaver Dams all week off the Kimberly Clark logging roads to fly in only lakes. 2 a day Herculean workouts getting ready for those trips. No fat fishermen back then.
  13. Toronto Speedway is the old Cayuga Dragway Park. Suuuuuunday Niaaaagara was in Lewistion by the Air Force Base if I can remember that far back. No more jumping in and out of pick up trucks, man this getting old sucks. Now I know what that wry smile on the oldtimers faces were for when we were having chin up contests on night shift on the Cast House floor.
  14. Drove over to Toronto Motorsport Park which by the way is about 2 hours from T.O. in Cayuga. Put a few lawn chairs in the back of the pick up to watch the fire works. I am 62 going on 82 with the pins I have holding myself up right. So I put a folding chair up to climb onto the box so we can watch the very good show. Of course getting back down everything is sopping wet from the earlier thunder showers and I take a header off the tailgate. Down I go and land on my rib cage. I don't know if a few are broke or bruised, no difference there isn't any thing they can do but take an X-ray and tell you to take it easy and take some Tylenol. This ain't me first Rib Rodeo. The real problem is I have a chest infection and am coughing my lungs out. That hurts worse than the catheter my Doc put in 2 weeks ago after my Cystoscopy. (Biopsy said all clear by the way) So here I sit typing trying not to cough bugging you guys that are peacefully sleeping. Man this hurts like a ess oh bee every time I cough. There I feel better wining on the internet. More wining. They had a finale with a transport truck tractor with 2 jet engines, the thing spewed flames and exhaust with emissions higher than the wind turbines next to the drag way for 20 minutes or more. If it were our Steel Plant or Refinery down the road the MOE would have been investigating forthwith and most likely laying charges. I don't get it.
  15. Pick one. Both hold fish, no own here will be able to put you on a spot. The best thing about fishing is finding them then catching them. We can hammer the fish in a spot one day go back the next day or even the same day latter and nothing. I have been told some of those critters can do 20 KMS an hour or more. Do the math. Good luck to you and as I said before we have the same boat. You have good taste when it comes to boats. Get out there and find them.
  16. I think it is up to the poster to do what he or she is most comfortable at. Not everyone can write like a Pulitzer Prize winner and not everyone can make a viewable video and some, like I, am not able to post a photo here on OFC because of who knows why. Other forums I have no problems at all posting pics. Personally if I see a video that is longer than 5 minutes I pass. If there are numerous photos it may take forever for them to download with my some days limited rural service so I don't wait to see them. Post your reports as you wish is my take on it.
  17. As said it's what you want out of a boat. I know a guy that had a new Lund and he had nothing but problems with it and finally sold it after 2 seasons. One of my fishing pals has had his Princecraft for 19 years and fishes 12 months of the year. I wouldn't want to guess how many hours are on it. He beats the bejeezus out of it, uses it as an ice breaker some winter days and it has lasted long enough that he just put a new Yamaha 4 stroke on her. If they are used it's all about condition. Take both boats out and then decide. Since many Mercs have Yamaha blocks and lower units built specifically for Merc I would personally lean towards the higher horse power. Not sure if Yamaha still co builds newer Mercs. It's Chev vs. Ford vs. Chrysler and, and..... Your choice and yours alone.
  18. You are a good man McDuff.
  19. With all those wonderful viddels I guess one would only need to eat twice a day Big Cliff. Plus snacks!! When do you want to go again, I'll buy the eats and you do the cheffin'. I would add one thing to the packing list though, one of those multi tools if tinkering of the motor is needed. That place looks like a palace compared to some of the dives we have stayed in on our fishing trips.
  20. Hey Art, you spelled neighbour wrong. An early happy 4th to you too. We will be going over the ditch to Western NY to visit family and have a traditional US BBQ. My favorite is the split chickens on the real deal 4'X8' table top BBQ with blazing charcoal that we get from the Live Hose and a plate full of Aunt Franny's Mac and Cheese. I wonder if any of my Canuck friends here know what " the Live Hose" is? Ooops forgot the sacks full of Little Neck Clams. When we were kids we charged all the Uncles a penny each to open them.
  21. I am so happy that the fishing was 5 Star. Accommodation's seem to be starless. Remind me not to book there Big Guy. Imagine if the fishing was as bad as the shack. That outfitter should be ashamed of his misleading marketing. And thank you for an honest assessment. Word of mouth was always a good way to loose a business, now with this digital age and Social Media the word will spread throughout the fishing world quickly. I think I have been in worse places but we paid 100 bucks a week including a tinny but we knew what we were getting. Jumped out of the top bunk and went straight through the floor! Do you feel you over paid for the trip Cliff? The key is though you got to spend some priceless time with your son, and the fishing was a bonus. Welcome home Cliff.
  22. Yea I remember, not what we talked about though. I'd like to report a thread Hi Jacking, take me to Cuba!!!
  23. A history of the flags flown as Canadian. http://canada.pch.gc.ca/eng/1444133232512#a21 Hey M2B2 did I talk to you last night? Someone must have slipped me a Mickey Finn. Fell out of bed and I bruised a few ribs. Celebrated Canada Day with the neighbours around a camp fire a day early.
  24. Excellent RB. You sure have some Primo equipment there. I took photography for a year at Sheridan back in 73' (they had a Football team) and had to buy a 2" format Hasselblad, $3500.00 then!!! The price of a new car. Sold it for 4 grand a year latter. Yes 1965 was when we got our own flag. Many of the Gen Xers and Millennials have no idea what The Canadian Ensign is. Anyone remember Bobby Gimby's Canada song from 67'. The slide show sure brings back some old memories.
  25. The further north you go will get more remote. Location is a personal preference. And your budget will dictate what and where you eventually buy. Good luck on your search, looking for a vacation spot is exciting.
