G. Mech Sir. That trip was well before the NOTL store opened, 1.5 hours is at 3AM and taking the 407, plus it is much further than 1.5 hrs from us, I only wish. Hell I am a good hour from Hamilton now, it used to be 45 minutes to downtown, not anymore. Now it's 45 minutes to Rymal Rd. since they added no less than 4 new stop lights in Binbrook. 1 lane in 1 lane out, what a joke. The actual town of Selkirk is a good 15 minutes from our shack as well. The day I drove there to BPS took almost 4. I said Newmarket which is 10 minutes further because I couldn't remember the name of Vaughn and don't care to remember it. My sis in law lives in Newmarket, even taking the 407 to the less travelled 404 has taken me 4 hours some days. Some days you just have to go through traffic, no question, like when the family calls at 2PM and says if you want to see your sis before she dies leave now. I know exactly how long it takes to get to BPS and Newmarket my friend, exactly. My showroom and office was under the Garden City Skyway in St. Kits on Bunting Rd, it was exactly 1 hour and 30 minutes from my shack to there. Add another 10minutes to BPS Niagara On The Lake, that's 2 hours on a bright dry day G. Don't worry G. Mech, where I live is one thing I am positive of.

He is on a 14 day break from Chemo and is 10 days before another round of Chemo. He sounded strong and we talked for 20 minutes before he ran out of gas. A question. In December 1972 I walked into the Outdoor Store in Hamilton and bought a single shot 12 gauge shotgun and a box of shells, no I.D. or FAC required. What would happen to me if, and I say if, I still had that gun that I legally bought and used it to shoot a Bear that was coming through my patio door? Or a Bush wolf, or a Cougar that doesn't exist in Ontario? Or one of the Bob Cat's that do exist in the woods behind us? Sounds rhetorical but isn't.

I too unsubscribed from them Simon, and Bass Pro and Gander Mountain. I see a good sale at Bass Pro, drive the 3 plus hours to Bass Pro near Newmarket and am told that is a US sale only and US prices on the Canadian site too, why? I have never bought anything from them since. I found Cabela's did have some good prices on tackle once, got 25 worm harnesses shipped here from the US and it was Chinese junk. Gander Mountains website pages are so packed with info you have to find an empty spot on the page to put the curser or it opens the item I don't want to see. Turn off hover and my fingers are so fat scrolling the touch screen opens everything I don't want open. I don't need that kind of useless stress in my life. I go to Mom and Pop stores now, there are no deals for me at Big Box guys.

Adam after all this I didn't read where you were only putting 150 lbs in the boat, no problem whatsoever putting 150 lbs in it. I'm picturing it loaded with furniture or something. I need to read closer. Don't travel with the engine up that high, travel in a down position. But check that the skeg won't bottom out when down. Often trailers for old boats aren't original and a replacement may sit lower than the original. As far as transfer of title a good question for iboats.com, someone from Alabama will answer you I'm sure. Boat title requirements vary state to state. If there isn't a title in hand from the seller you have a problem getting it registered here, it is the Federal Gov here that registers the boat, the trailer is Provincial. The insurance question can only be answered by your Insurance provider. You are towing a non Canadian boat and trailer, ask them and get it in writing. I know when I had a place and car in Florida I had to get insurance for both from a US company, it may have changed now but I doubt it. I could only keep that US car in Canada for no more than 6 months according to Canada and US Customs. I had a heck of a time from US Customs getting it back into the States when I went past 6 months.

OK some optimism from me. I took a look at the boat Adam, cute as a bugs ear. Very similar to the tri hull SunRay we are working on now, same colour too. Looks as solid and well kept as a few pics can depict and will be a real head turner at the dock for sure, especially with that steering. The price is fair even in USD. Especially if you part it out like you said you might. Push down on the 40 with it in the tilted up position. If the transom flexes in anyway it will tell you a lot about the boat and it's future.

Just trying to help Adam. Good luck. Porkpie. We too have loaded a 14' tinny with all manner of gear including Birch saplings complete with dirt balls. That was when were young and inexperienced. I am glad you have been lucky, we weren't. Watching the trailer wheel pass the truck on the 401 isn't fun. We had to talk our way out of a fine from Johnny Law that day too. As long as the load capacity is fairly matched to the trailer capacity it's all good. The "on water" weight capacity that might be on a Transport Canada tag is different than the trailer wt. capacity. for the boat is not the same as on the trailer. A guestimate is good enough. From what I got from Adam is that there is quite a bit of stuff he needs to move. I don't know if it's very heavy or not. I will stick to what I said based on real life experience too. There is no other type of experience other than real life. Man I wish I still had my 5X10 trailer, I would lend it to you.

I don't want to generalize but in my experience our American friends that take trips to north country will keep anything no matter how small, generally. I guess that is the definition of generalizing! We will keep a few Smallies that we call "Greenies" early in the season before the water gets ridiculously hot here on Erie, I have seen 78F in August. They do taste great early. I don't even know if they are wormy latter on as I have never in 25 years of Bass fishing here cleaned a Bass past the 1st week of July and then they are only 12 to 15 inch Greenies. I now recall cleaning 3 pounders when our local neighbourhood opener tourney we have to raise a bit of charity money and they didn't have worms then at least. I have long been a proponent of catch and release with barbless here on Erie before opener as they do on the US side of Erie. Doesn't seem to effect their numbers of fish that's a for sure. As I have said many times before we watch the Smallies sit on their beds from high above on the deck at our place. In fact I expect to see them start feeding where they make their beds any day now. The time it takes to hook, reel in and release a Bass isn't very long and the odds of a predator taking eggs is highly unlikely.

I was just going to post about Split that is out on DVD now. Just watched it last night. Yes James McEvoy's "beast" was a bit over the top I think. The real Beasts such as Jeffery Dahmer, Ted Bundy and Charles Manson don't seem to mirror the image that was portrayed in Split. Manson maybe. Makes for a more interesting movie I imagine. I dated a woman once that had multiple personality disorder, I swear, my friends called her Sybil.

If it is a human, and I think it is, remind me not to go there. The Wikipedia article sort of answered my question when I read that there are 1800 different genus of Black Flies. Who are these people that know that and dedicate their entire scientific careers to find that out including he fact 4 of the species are now extinct?

Buddy was telling me what the cost of a tag is now for a bird, WOWZA!! I think the last time I had a gun in my hand it was 5 bucks.

I only wear my hip waders, non insulated chest waders 2 weeks a year but they are 20 years old. Not bad for a CTC special and for what I need them for. When I trailer the boat to a ramp I have never been to I throw them in the boat. They have kept me dry when I have had to get in the cold water more than a few times. I hang them by the toes every year in the shed and that's it. No silicone spray. I can understand you guys spending big bucks for good quality when you use them regularly though. I will pass the info on to my buddy up north that basically lives in waders both fishing and hunting.

Adam I highly recommend staying away from a 45 year old boat unless you are a marine mechanic otherwise you are looking to get into some serious pain. It's like buying your very first car that is 45 years old. Sourcing parts alone for a boat manufacturer out of business is a nightmare, even a Johnson that old it may be tough to get parts for. For 900 bucks buy a trailer and sell it when you are done for even 1/2 price and it costs you only $450.00. Please don't buy a 45 year old boat, believe me. It may not take on water now but I can guarantee you that over 45 years it is more than likely that the floatation is waterlogged and the stringers have been compromised. Do you have a link where we can see he boat. Overloading a 14' boat trailer isn't safe either. like I said a trailered boat isn't a cube van. Experience is a lifetime of mistakes, wisdom is knowing not to make them again.

Can we categorically identify the species of flies that are in Parry Sound? I have in my earlier life been as far away as Long Lac area and Labrador. Just last year was my first experience with Parry Sound/Point Au Barril "Black Flies". We have bugs on Erie they call Black Flies, they are not, they are May Flies. Big buzzing critters that will turn my white boat seats and white T shirt red with blood when squished. They do not bite, they bug and that's it. The things in Long Lac, the Ottawa River near Pembroke and Labrador are the size of mosquitos, buzz and bite and I have a reaction and need Benadryl , if bad I need to go to the ER and get a shot. Eventually when we went to camp on the Ottawa I got an Epipen. The so called Black Flies I swallowed in Point Ah Barril were 4 times the size and buzzed but did not bite. They in my opinion are not Black Flies, too big, don't bite, don't make me sick. Maybe a strain but not the small biters we have north of southern ON. Please educate me.

You are new and I give you 5 stars for asking great questions. I use every type of line available for what I need it to do, each is a tool and there are specific tools for each and every job. A 10 pound sledge is a hammer but you wouldn't use it to put in a tack. And in each and every type there are good lines and not so good. DO NOT cheap out on line. Learn the best before dates for each type of line. I have changed mono 3 times in 1 year. My brother changes his when he runs out or every 7 years whichever occurs 1st. I am the worse line tier known to fisherman other than standard mono or flouro. I use micro chain swivels for flouro to Leadcore because the guides are large enough and even though I don't want metal rubbing against guides, it's my best option though. I need to take some lessons, not all good line tiers are good teachers. I've tried YouTube too, NFG. Man, there is enough info here on this thread about line someone can present a seminar.

Good for you. I was told by a local to stay out of it because of all the debris. I was by there just today and the river below Dunnville looks like chocolate milk, the dark kind. The timbers for the slips at the Dunnville Marina are usually out of the water 3 feet or so and they were peeking out, barely. I am surprised you risked running hat river with all the crud in it now. Buy a Lotto Max ticket for tonight. That music hurts us old f ers ears. The same 4 cords on each and every Heavy Metal ditty. At least we have Cats in common, right? We did get into a few before it rained. The rule for me is to hit that section of river the week the buds on the trees turn green, it has never failed so far, again good haul. Ever keep a few yellow bellies for the pan Steve? I can tell you they are sweet. 15 bucks a pound US now in the Mississippi River area, and they are muddy not nice and firm like ours in cold water.

Come on details. The Grand River below Dunnville looks like a few barges of logs capsized. I wouldn't recommend boating there for a while.

Oooch, ouch, grrr, ahhh!!!! Taken like a Man. I think we have all been there and if not either you don't fish much or are a liar. I use doubled up or more line on the back of the hook shank and push down hard, hard, not easy to do with one hand but possible. My Uncle from Western NY is a regular at the local Vets, cheaper than cost at the hospital ER to remove hooks from his arse. Don't sit on Rappalas. bare foot, the look on puppies face brings tear to my eye. Pets may not speak but just by the look on their faces can tell us everything. Maybe not Cats and Birds. Oh I lie I can tell my wife's Cat hates me, unless I am doing something for him.

I reported back to the usual suspects that only fish Erie today and they are planning a trip for next week. A major paradigm shift for these local yokels.
