Thanks so much F4F. I can see how the winds might get silly in that bay. I was up to a place my cousins bought years ago, if I remember it was at least 100 feet down to the water. Like a Scandinavian fiord. I actually have more than 1 good level wind that needs attention. Reel repairmen are few and far between, especially good ones. I will have to remember to bring them to him. A good excuse to invite myself back up there. Thanks again for the tips too, that's great.

That's a pretty long highway Floatn. South end isn't far from us where it starts at HWY 24. Where on 6 exactly? Ted and I have a running gag, I get him all hopped up about going to a new tackle shop and then sit in the truck and wait for him because I say I'm not spending a penny on stuff I don't need and can't use right. Then I go in to drag him out 100 bucks latter because he is a tackle addict. He's the addict and I'm the facilitator. I have it, Owen Sound. The opposite end of 6.

Wiarton wouldn't come up, now it does. Thanks guys exactly what I was looking for. Early in the week doesn't look bad. I'm sure the forecast will change 10 times or more in a week.

Johnson Controls makes 80% of all batteries sold in North America, including most popular brands including Walmart, Costco, CTC and Interstate. Like most things some are better than others in the line up.
-
M2, before you run out and buy a new battery Rick check out CTC and the NOCO G3500 Battery Charger. I picked one up last month after I could not find my booster pack or charger anywhere in the mess I call a shed/shop/garbage holder/tool depot/tackle centre. It says it can bring a dead battery back to life. It was on sale for around 110 all in. I love it. Of course a week after I bought 2 new units I find my not so old charger and booster pac. Tich said it was a scam. Check it out.

Tipping the pilot on a fly in fishing trip
Old Ironmaker replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
I would rather a Pilot be quiet and grumpy and concentrating on flying the plane than a chatty Cathy not concentrating on the flying part. Think about someone when you are at work trying to concentrate with a few people asking you questions every few minutes. It's an Air Craft not an Uber ride downtown. I'd give the guy a pass. More common than I thought. The lovely next door neighbour told me both her 18 year old grand son and 16 year old grand daughter fly bush planes up north all summer. I guess she wasn't telling me a story after all. As far as tipping it all depends on the service. If the Pilot doesn't crash that in my eyes is good service. Tipping seems to be a given today like DanD said. I get absolutely incensed when we rent a hall with table service for a dinner dance or stag and gratuities are part of the bill. In some places in Europe and the UK tipping is foreign to them, especially to the owner if serving. One guy in Italy told me not to come back because I wanted to tip him and he was the owner. Basically he said "You think I need your money pal?" -
We have been invited for next week up to Paisley on the Bruce to fish by a buddy from Hamilton that just moved up that way a few months ago. He has been told Colpoy Bay is good right now. He has not had a chance to fish yet this spring. I can't get any info for the bay on any of my wind prediction sites, I use Windfinder and Sailflow. Closest data is Owen Sound. My question if anyone has fished Colpoy is how does the bay react compared to the main south area of Georgian Bay? It sure looks protected from south, west and north winds. A stiff wind from the east would be a problem I would think. He has asked a few guys up there but no help yet. He is after all a stranger. I told him to go to The Legion in Wiarton and buy a round, they may at least give him some "fishy" stories. Ted has fished there but it has been years and can't recall how the winds react. We are taking the 21 foot StarCraft Heritage and all the stuff we use to get deep etc. on Erie. Thanks in advance all. Johnny D

There's the proof (chuckle) Very nice Smithy. Your 41" looks bigger than my 41" that I embellish about. That fish gets bigger every year. Should be that 50 incher all you guys talk about in a few years.

Looking for some Concrete advice on a major issue.
Old Ironmaker replied to LeXXington's topic in General Discussion
I apologize profusely, I typed sand when I meant to type stone. It was I. Don't pay me the balance owed. You were very wise to hold back 1/2 LeXXington, not many contractors will take that deal. We contracted for 10% final, many just didn't pay because they knew we wouldn't take it much further and Home Depot couldn't be bothered to use their resources for 10% of the price. If a customer had a hold back of 50% you better believe 1 of us was on that job to supervise every day and the sales guy that signed that deal. They dropped the ball big time. The ball is in your court now, they may just walk depending on what a tear out redo will be, especially if it will cost more than the 50% you hold. They have to calculate how big a hit to their reputation walking will cost them. If these guys are the "door to door" want a new driveway Sir? you probably will never see them again. -

Man Sinker you can be harsh sometimes. I was taught if you don't have anything nice to say about someone shut your mouth. -
What no pictures Smitty? On all fishing forums if you don't post a pic it never happened. If a tree falls in a forest and there isn't a picture of it falling to post on social media it never fell. Your catch of those Gators gets an attaboy fotto or not from this non Musky guy.

Yep Mr. G. better tilted down than up but I was taking the inches tilted literally. In 10' of water no big deal in 300 feet of water depending on cone angle you may be 100's of feet in front of the boat. I know someone a lot better in arithmetic than I could even figure the exact number. You could mark fish well before your presentation gets to it trolling. It may be advantageous actually when running full out to see what's well ahead of your boat. You will get a shallow water alarm before you hit the shallow water, which depending how fast you are going is usually too late.

Dave I just noticed how that boat is tied to your dock. Or you just parked it like that to get pics maybe. That Eagle painted the same Ferrari red would be off the chart. Ferrari calls it "Sangua Rosa" blood red. Trivia of the day, Ferrari has more than 20 shades of red. -
That's not a smidge. Is it level to the surface when not at WOT? You may be receiving a picture when stopped that is nowhere under the boat, especially in deep water.

NF Trent Lakes Waste Management ...getting ridiculous
Old Ironmaker replied to buckhorn250's topic in General Discussion
Here they as well have turned the dump into a recycling centre. I loved going to the old dump, a buddy would come out heavier than when he went in. I know a guy that cut up an old glass boat and it cost him close to a grand to get rid of it. And everyone wants to know why our culverts are full of household items. Our county staff looking for ways to find money actually proposed condo, townhouse and apartment properties be totally responsible for garbage and recycle costs as well as seasonal addresses not get garbage and recycling pickup from Thanksgiving to Victoria Day. All they had to do is drop off the 2 bags and recycle to the "Waste Management Facility" and PAY for it. In a moment of sanity the Mayor said not on my watch. If they took the time to actually write it down and send notices to each and every residence here I know it will be something they will try to do ASAP. You aren't alone. -

A StarCraft and a Merc, it doesn't get any better. Great job. -
That deserves an ataboy.

So goes the fate of most Mom and Pop businesses. Costs are skyrocketing in all aspects of running a business from administration costs to labour and price increases won't be tolerated by customers. No one is going to pay double for the same cheeseburger that they paid for last year. With a 15 buck minimum wage soon many more businesses just hanging on will be gone too. Here is your $15.00 wage retail and fast food worker, good luck finding a job.

And come to think about it they still do. Watch them pour concrete in Florida, you might not see a single stone. Same as making mortar in coastal area, they used the salt laden sand, no way they were importing sand when they are surrounded by it. After a few years it starts to fall out of the joints. -

I didn't make my point well. How much do you want to spend to ensure no lifting etc? Steel weight is on average .92 lbs. per cubic inch. Calculate the weight based on the size of the plate or slab. About 600 bucks a ton dependant on grade not delivered. -
Honey, how do I look in this dress? ,,,,,,,,you liar, I need to change. Honey, how do I look in this dress? Another episode of Rod Sterling's Twilight Zone where there is a World in our Galaxy where there are no correct answers.

I don't think anyone suggested a sand substrate. As far as spending to do it right a slab of 2" or 3" steel isn't going to heave or crack. -
You better be a quick learner. That's it, the weight of a chicken? I only wish. She might be right Dave, there will be loss of weight from dehydration, in micrograms though. Being married is a lot like being a criminal, you don't start late in life and you can't learn it in a classroom.
