  1. I use the Stabil Marine Formula for the boat and I add a bit to the snowblower and lawnmower when they go away for the season. I use Seafoam as a cleaner for the carb and upper cylinders. A lot of the 'gurus' on iboats.com don't recommend Seafoam as a fuel stabilizer, as a cleaner yes but not for long term storage of fuel.
  2. I've got a Mustang fisherman's vest and it's fine for me. I'm a big guy and it fits and is comfy.
  3. Spiel, that was incredible of you!! Wayne is a bigtime contributor to the board and has helped out quite a few OFNrs over the years and it is good to see that some of the Karma he has built up over the years is coming back to him by this gesture. Wayne, get your little girl healthy again and get her out to give this rod a test drive. It needs a nice brand spanking new reel.
  4. I wouldn't go much higher than around 2500lbs. This question comes up fairly often. Tow capacities are calculated based on a 150lb driver and a tank of gas in the vehicle. That's it, no passengers, no gear or stuff in the Jeep, nothing! Whatever goes in the vehicle comes off the capacity, something to remember. Braking is a big factor to consider, a panic stop with a lot of weight in the back is no fun. If you keep your speed to the posted limit, you should be fine but you need to really pay attention to what is going on around you and have plenty of space in front of you.
  5. Looks like a good time was had by all. Even Lew just about cracked a smile in the pic of him............ Gotta make it up there one year.
  6. Boo hoo for them!! It's not a lake that is restricted for motorboats, those knuckleheads don't clean up after themselves and they are giving you dirty looks???
  7. Make sure you are using the correct spark plugs. Consult your owner's manual or contact the manufacturer. I'd go with good quality oil as well, not the cheap stuff, esp. for break in.
  8. Contact Shimano in Peterborough. They have a lifetime warranty on their new stuff, I don't know about the older rods.
  9. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, there are a lot of rattlers around there. Gerry would always have a rattler or two around his site at some point. Enough for me to say NO THANKS!! I don't like snakes.
  10. Make sure it has what you want/need in it. Don't get too fixated on the price, because if you don't have something on it that you want now, you may not be able to add it later depending on the configuration.
  11. Geez, looking at all that chrome, high rise intakes, blowers, cold air/ram air intakes brings me back. Gotta love cruise nights/car shows in parking lots. I'd love to see Waynes 'Bird some day. If you ever want to dyno it for s's and g's, my buddy has one in Scarborough. It'd be a nice little drive for her to stretch out her legs a bit. Definitely be nice to see a real car on that dyno and not a rice rocket!!! Big Blocks Forever!!!
  12. Irishfield would be the man to talk to or ask, but he is up at Lakair I think.
  13. What an embarrasment!!! Getting trounced like that by Beantown and then rioting??? What the hell??? Having been out to Vancouver, knowing that they don't like us Ontarians, you know what, I have a real reason not to like them now!! You go you bunch of morons, trash your city!
  14. That looks like one of those Polish Perch lures!! I'm getting snacky as my little one says, gotta get into some 'eyes this weekend.
  15. McCrae has some fish but it's tough fishing there, I have a buddy who has a boat/motor cache there for when he camps and he has a tough time catching there. For the amount of trouble to get there, I'd try somewhere else.
  16. I'd take a day and visit a bunch of them and speak to the owners and also to a few of the campers there. Get a good look at the facilities and see what they have to offer.
  17. Nice ride!! Now you have to take her for a shakedown cruise and get some slime on her!!!
  18. 6' Frontier Med action fast tip with my Stradic 2500 spooled with 15lb PP for jigging and my 7' St Croix Avid MH baitcaster with my Quantum Tour Edition Baitcaster spooled with 50lb PP. Covers all I fish for except Muskie.
  19. Good for you to spend some time with your grandparents and even better that you were able to catch a fish for a fish fry. Unfortunately, they will be gone soon enough and all you'll have is your memories of them, make sure you have plenty. I miss the 3 that are gone and my grandfather is going to be 99 this year but he has advanced Alzheimers, he is both deaf and blind now and has been in a nursing home for a few years. I hear you when you speak of the family dynamic that makes it difficult/impossible to hang onto the cottage. Wayne gave a couple of good tips for passing down the family cottage to the kids/grandkids. BUT, if CRA decides to call you on it, the principal residence clause can be a very sticky issue, if you bought the property for $1000 and in 50 years it goes up in value to $50 000 and in the 51st year you move in for a year and then sell for $55 000, you are still liable to pay the taxes on the increase of $49 000 from the time it was bought to the time you moved in. It is a bit of a grey area and if biz is slow, the taxman will probably come knocking.
  20. Let's not forget that you are spooled up with Power Pro, braided line also does wonders for sensitivity. With a good quality MH rod, it will be plenty sensitive. I love my St Croix Premier and my Quantum Tour Edition MH spinning rods that do double duty for pike and for pulling walleye harnesses, they are nice and light and are very sensitive.
  21. Joey, great report!! Nice fish!! Good to see you two are sliming up that shiny Lund REAL GOOD!!!!!
  22. Good Job!! Most people would have not bothered to keep at it. Your a good man Charlie Brown!! I hope your son appreciates the trouble you went to get that thing running so he could use it. You are right in one of your earlier posts, this is an incredible community, you had some real good advice from a lot of different people.
  23. 65deg Farenheight around Honey Harbour and around 60 in the deeper water.
  24. I wasn't there for the musky so I'm not the culprit. When there is a measuring tape taped to the side of the boat, it's kinda easy to get a quick measurement. Besides, in that area, you don't want to mess around too much with OOS and illegal fish, the OPP and MNR are all over the place checking boats which is a good thing IMO.
