  1. Not good news at all. Please accept my sympathies to all who were close.
  2. Thanks for the info, Connie. Looking forward to Andrew's article as well as all the other great info in EA. I guess it'll be Mr. Wayne and Mr. Dan from now on.

  4. Greased lightning here.....
  5. Welcome aboard, Shane. Looking forward to your posts.
  6. I suspect he'll have a great welcoming in the penal community.
  7. Sounds Ed Zachary like how I felt at BOQ a few weeks ago. Get yasseff better Bubba. And when you get better, hug dat Cheryl woman fer lookin' after yor .
  8. Found this: Fri, 2007-12-07 02:14. John Elston An explosion at the Royal Thai restaurant in the Bayfield and Dunlop area of downtown Barrie sparked a major fire late thursday night. Due to concerns the fire could spread, apartments above nearby stores were evacuated. Evacuees were taken to a church. No injuries have been reported, but the fire was burning out of control for several hours. The accompanying picture showing flames smoke billowing up from the fire scene was shown on the City of Barrie's web site between 2 and 3 a.m. After 3 o'clock, the flames began dying down.
  9. Let's hope for the best. There's never a good time to be battling fires but in this cold it must be terrible work. Winds are at 20K in Barrie right now, let's hope they calm down some.
  10. This is from my kitchen door this morning.
  11. I still like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gh5a_uemynU
  12. Yup, smoke alarms detect suspended particles (visible or invisible) in the air. These particles need not necessarily be smoke particles either. There are two basic types of smoke detectors, ionization and photo-electric. Most folks use ionization...it's the most common detector. They both serve the same purpose using different detection methods. Both detection methods are effective as long as they are UL/ULC rated. The inonization unit uses a minute amount of a radioactive substance (age prevents me from remembering the name of the substance) that keeps the air in the chamber conductive between the negative and positive posts powered by the battery. When suspended particles enter the chamber, the current drop between the posts causes an alarm. The photo-electric acts in much the same way except it uses a light emitting diode (LED). It sends a light signal to what looks like a 'T' thingie and when particles enter the detector, it scatters the light, causing an alarm. Not only smoke will trip smoke detectors...dust will as well. Keep the batteries new and all should be good. Wayne has the right idea on why the detector is tripping. BTW, if the detector is 10 years old or more, replace it.
  13. Sounds like a nut case to me.....
  14. This is the authentic OFC tree.
  15. My condolences to you and your family, Gary.
  16. You eat at McDonald's, Nauti?
  17. It's not rocket science. You are what you eat. Eating more than the recommended daily quantities of granola will turn one into a legume.
  18. Welcome aboard. Looking forward to your reading your input and experiences out there.
  19. It's been a nice run. I know that passions flare when this topic comes up (and it does come up quite often) and I suppose there's good reason. However, Mr. O'Brien, Mr. Williamson nor any of the others post here to admit to nor refute anything that is said. So, without any "proof" one way or the other, I think that the whole excercise is redundant. All this is is conjecture. Let's please take a break from this and get our facts straight before condeming a fisherman for having caught a very large fish that most of us would kill to have caught. I'll lock this now and if any of the mods think I'm out of line, unlock it......no hard feelings at all.
  20. Morning everyone. Yes, I too shovelled out a 30' wide path of 12" of overcast skies and mythology. With the winds here this morning, the mythological, non-existing poop is drifting quite severely. Yes Virginia, there IS a Santa Claus.
  21. Wow...a crappie day for sure! Missey will be eating well again tomorrow! Nice to see you getting out there Dawg.
  22. I don't remember. It was several years ago but I think it had to do with whether or not someone would/should keep or release a WR muskie. The subject kinda crops up every 276 days or so.
  23. And if it is, it's called a redeye.
  24. No Dan, it's a good thread but this one is under 90 replies and we've had at least one that was over 500 replies. Views on this one is over 2800 and there are regularly threads with over 3000 views. This thread will surely break the 3000 views mark (if it doesn't go awry) but I wouldn't bet on it breaking the 500 reply mark. Some interesting points of view.
  25. 'Nuther great report Bubba but still no dam fish eh? I especially enjoyed the play by play on how to eat a crappie. Did Missey get to eat any fish at all ?
