    WARNING

News but also timely advice. Thanks for posting it here as well, Chris. I know that lotsa folks are trying to "scientifically" justify going out on the ice this weekend. Some MAY know what they're doing but a lot of people reading these boards are complete neophytes and will listen to what the "experienced" ice fisherman says. Be careful.
  6. OOPs, sorry. Thought this was a hockey thread.
  7. Winter tires are not mandatory in Quebec, YET. But I wouldn't leave home without them. We're also getting off track here. My condolences to the families and friends of those two men.
  8. The first Canadian Tire store I ever went to was at Yonge and Davenport. It wasn't that big a store by today's standards but it was different. All the goods were strapped or blister packed to display counters. Beside each item was a stack of punched cards for that item. Once you selected what you wanted, you simply brought your cards off to the guy at the main desk and he'd hand them off to a bunch of kids on roller skates. They whip down the alleys of the backstore picking up your purchases and drop them off at the main desk where you were. 'Twas a quaint custom....I don't think they had ice augers then. But, they did have some very nice Supercycle bikes.
  9. Well that's certainly one of the nicest perch I've ever seen. Congrats on the catch and thanks for showing us.
  10. Raptors are truly terrific aerial hunters:
  11. Are you absolutely sure of that, Bud? What's the transom height?
  12. I called the same agency before Christmas Lew and had the same treatment. After my question was answered, she wished me a good day and if I had any other questions to not hestate to call. I should have posted this when it happened but I thought noone would believe me. :-) Glad you got good service too.
  13. That looks great Tony! What size is that? I need to build something in the spring.
  14. There's absolutely nothing wrong with providing a link to a site which could be helpful to a member who requests advice.
  15. I saw it too but the one I saw was caught on Nipissing.
  16. Happy Birthday Marc! It's also Pete Maina's birthday today and I forgot to send him a card.
  17. Welcome aboard, Eric!
  18. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! Just amazing, Joey! I'm so happy for you!
  19. Careful what you say, the MNR is monitoring the site.
  20. I JUST got mine a few minutes ago! WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
  21. Thank you Sam. The same to you and Laurie. Have a healthy and successful 2008!
  22. Good stuff SpoonMaster! I had an original Lowrance (green box) many years ago also. I also have a Combo C-Lector. A great piece of equipment. Depth temp and suggested bait colours...good stuff! Here's a bad pic I just took.
  23. Dawg, they're a lot easier to keep if you stick to something realistic and attainable.
  24. Great to see you out there having a good time!
  25. What you have to remember Maureen is that the Hotmaps are no more than an addendum to the regular Navionics charts. The bodies of water that you name are all on one chip.....the regular Great Lakes chip. It has the GL and the Rideau and the Trent system including all of the Kawarthas , the Larry the Ottawa etc.....
