  1. Ha ha, good stories. The bill for my youngest a few years ago was $12,000.00. The dentist is a neighbour who comes over regularly for a beer. I like the dude...makes Madoff look like a choir boy. Learned a lot from him.
  2. I think I posted this in the last superstions thread I think. If you get to your favourite lake and see this.....you might as well turn around and go home cause you just ain't gunna have a good day.
  3. Yes the gold is good but be careful now, they are marine charts...basically the same depth/contour info BUT, the marine charts don't have the same bodies of water. The charts are for the great lakes and connecting bodies of water such as the Rideau system and the Trent Severn system.
  4. Just a little heads up here. Verify on the Navionics site as to which chips are compatible with Humminbird units. Some are fully compatible with some chips. Other are not compatible. And other still, are partially compatible.... i.e. Not all of the chip's functions are available. You can find that information here: http://www.navionics.com/Plotters.asp Hope this helps.
  5. I'd say he's making his way to the mainland.
  6. Well I have a Pro Series 167BT Princecraft with a Mercury 60hp 4 stroke. Last season early, I bought a Minn-Kota Edge, 24 volt, 70lb thrust. The thing has been flawless for me. The price is right and it can do more than I need.
  7. Yeah! What Art said.
  8. What kind of boat do you have Dirk (size)?
  9. Offshore boards are probably your best option with the appropriate release clips. It's your choice of course but I have no idea why someone would use planers for muskie. I also feel that with 200' of line out, you'll kill the muskie. For what it's worth, it's my opinion.
  10. Very, VERY good pictures Rob. You sure know what you're doing on the other side of that camera. It was nice seeing you again this year. Thanks for sharing these.
  11. Excellent report as usual TJ. I kinda feel at home at Camp Jiggy Jiggy already! BTW, that hold of Monique's is the famous "Cross Your Heart" hold. Thanks for showing us the pics and telling the story. Also a tip of the ol' OFC hat for not giving away the GPS coordinates.
  12. Just use discretion when posting is all. And Mark, if you go look at your own history you'll notice that exactly half of every thread started by you is a thread asking for specific spots. So it's ok for folks to give you info but not give it to others? I don't understand your logic.
  13. Good stuff Mike. Thanks for posting the results.
  14. Nice fish Steve. How come the walleyes are so white (light colored)?
  15. Tie on the largest float you have on there, cast it out there and pick at the line till it's all free. Then you can reel it in tight. Be patient and don't pull hard on the line when you know it's looped. You'll just make it worse.
  16. Thanks for the report, Rob. Nice fish. What kind of graph is that?
  17. TJ just went through this with girls the same age. He can probably help you. Of course at his camp he has home theatre, internet etc. Keram, I'm sure that fishing swimming, survival skills will all be fun for them Don't forget, they are best friends so they welcome the fact that they can stay up and chat and laugh all night. (bring ear plugs) Good luck ...looking forward to the report.
  18. A shot in the dark here Joe but if it only happens when your wife uses the car then I suspect that she is doing something different. Two first things I'd check would be that the shift be completely in Park. The second thing I'd check would be that the steering is unlocked by turning it slightly. It just sounds like too much of a coincidence that it would only happen to her.
  19. A great report, Joey! Really glad you both had a good week. You've got some nice pictures there too! Thank you again for taking on a hitch hiker on your boat, it's really a super boat, congrats on that. Hopefully see you soon.
  20. You're beating a dead horse Mark. You asked the same question July 11th '08 and folks told you their opinion at the time. Find another piece of water you want to fish and work that one. In the meantime, the Speed may have recovered from whatever is happening there. Sorry, I can't help you as I live 500 miles away and I don't know the area. Good luck.
  21. I keep a few pre-tied in the boat all the time but I also keep a kit such as this aboard. They only take about 2 minutes to make and you don't have the storage problems. As far as the swivel goes, I always include one. It makes the rig a whole lot stronger. THIS is basically how I make mine with a few slight modifications over the years. All components are available at luremaking.com.
  22. Have a great and safe holiday, folks. And remember, no smoking near the fireworks trailer!
  23. Also, a lot of spools nowadays (even some older ones) especially baitcasters are designed to take braids without backing.
  24. C'mon guys, he can't be that bad. He has a boating competency card eh?
  25. "Celebrating 90 years on the West Arm of Lake Nipissing........!"??????? Jeeez Kev, what kinda drugs are you taking?
