Message to everyone up at Lakair: Play/Drive safe and have a fishful/alcohol-full time! Hope that we will see many PB. Once again I can't make it up there this year ... hopefully next time. I'll be waiting for the reports!

I have caught one on the otonabee that is MASSIVE ... it wouldn't even fit in my carp net. It was very ugly though... with all sort of stuff growing on its back. Attempted to net it but it was too big and ended up snapping the line ... That's one cool picture Jedi ... I still remember Jamie (Crazyhook)'s picture though ... it's a similar shot but his was like 2-3 times bigger than yours

LoL ... of the many years that I have been on online fishing boards ... that pic is something I haven't seen before haha Great job toughing it out guys! Nice to see that you're rewarded with some fish as well. The pic with Johnny wearing the rain jacket isn't that scary ... wait until he takes it off haha joking.

Nice fish MoB! There are some really cheap digital cameras to be had nowadays ... even the normal point and shoot dcams have like 8-9 megapixels now ... I'm pretty sure you can find one @ 4-5 megapixels under $100 ... makes a great camera for fishing and you can view them right away

Alot of us uses field corn aka maize. You can buy them at farm supply stores ... 40kg bag for approx $12-13. It'll last you quite some time. One good thing about this is that the gobies in the water won't be able to strip it off your hook as easy as canned corn. Some people soak it for a couple days before using it, others boil'em for about an hour. Another good thing about maize is that you can put your own flavours into it. Take a look at Rich's thread... http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.p...mp;#entry217507 Many carpers use and swear by the specialize carp bait ... I have the most confidence in maize and that's what I use most of the time. So far, out of the many sessions I have fished with other carpers, I have yet to have another carper outfish me by a big margin when I'm using maize and they're using something else. (well I lied, I have this year but when I switched over to a bollie I still didn't catch a thing, so who knows). There has been many debates between carpers on what's the "best" bait, the general consensus is that boillies produce bigger fish while particle baits produce more numbers. That is still an open-ended debate though ... As for where to buy this stuff ... maize: search up some carp threads here on OFC, photoz (steve) knows all the location in and around TO where you can buy it ... he mentioned it quite a few times when people were asking about it ... these threads should be around apr/may this year. Specialized carp bait ... there's "Bill's bait and tackle" and "Fishing World" in hamilton ... Angling Specialities have them as well. (They have stores at Scarborough, Missisauga, Concord I believe, google it) Good luck!

I have yet to have that happened to me yet ... last season I boiled them for about 45-60minutes and they soften up real good, rarely had any of them crack. When I put it on my hair though, I usually try to find the better kernels. This year I've been soaking'em ... the bucket that I soaked back in early May still got leftover lol ... it's fermenting real good but the carp don't seem to have a problem with them ... it might be even better ... who doesn't like free alcohol 8-) haha

Nice report HD! Good to see Lucid still around as well ! It's been a while since we have seen one of these island pike reports! Thanks for sharing.

WTG MoB! That last one is a biggun! Very clean healthy looking fish. If you don't have too much time taking the boat out, there are many shore fishing opportunities for carp in and around the downtown area. Try using a hair rig and your hookup % should go up. Thanks for sharing with us!

Sorry for your loss Gary.

Sorry to hear man. I hope that you'll find the jerks one day ... if not, karma will.
-
Yup, what HearingFish said. Rain I don't mind (depends on who i'm going with though) ... but if it's high winds or thunder... then i wouldn't risk it
-
it's like that for me as well even when i'm only going on day trips ... i'd plan on sleeping early the night before so i'd be full of energy the next day ... then i'll end up sleeping at 2-3am just wandering around the house thinking what i have left unpacked ... but i guess that just makes the wait to the actual trip alittle shorter

i got to BPS before they opened on Sat. and they were giving it out to the first 100 customers. Haven't read through all of them yet but the few i have read are pretty good. I especially like the "women bassing" one haha

Nice report. It's great getting some family and fishing time. Thanks for sharing.

o hey. that's a great way to hide the fact that you photoshopped the fish into the pic haha Very nice fish indeed though, looks to have beautiful color/markings! Congrats on the PB!

Nice fish Rich. Fishing in these swims just adds the fun to it ! It sucks that we couldn't find time to fish with you out your way ... will you be coming up to the kawarthas again in july/aug? Maybe we can put in half a day of carping!

Thank you for the replies guys! I'm going to keep trying until I get one ... hope to have a report with more fish next time! Roger: the boat cover is alittle wide I think but it will do great for storage. Thanks!
-
I bet ya not too many people live in heaven like you do ... so your reports make most of us real jealous Anything thing is that ... i wish i have as much time as you to put on the water Ok enough with the jealousy ... great report as always! Keep'em coming to keep us sane .

the previous owner can go in and replace the ownership with his information. For mine, I had to do the "oath of declaration"... to swear that the trailer is mine. It costs $35.

Congrats on the PBs, the successful day and some father-son time!!! O yeah, also sliming up the new boat! Gotta love that feeling. Thanks for the report!

Sounds like you had a great time. Gotta be nice to get away from the kids for a vacation with beautiful scenery and big fish to boot. Thanks for sharing! -
On Saturday, My dad and I took my "girlfriend #2" out for the first time. Knowing that I'm a university student with limited funds, BPSBASSMAN has offered me some boat equipment to help get started. We dropped by BPS in the morning to meet with Roger and picked up a few things in the store. Thank you again Roger, I promise to pass on the act of kindness to another OFNer one day. We also made a stop at McD to get some breakfast and the gas station on the way, didn't waste too much time and we're on the road again. I did go the wrong way at one point and wasted about 30 minutes of fishing time but we finally made it to the launch at 11:30am. We planned to go later in the day so that we would avoid the lineup at the boat launch and we can take our time as it's our first time. Made sure the plug was in, trailer lights unplgged, I slowly backed the boat in, got'er in the water. We took it slow and everything was smooth, it'd be much quicker next time. We tested out the motor and the trolling motor, everything ran great and I was quite happy with the speed at WOT considering that I have only been in a rental. I was hoping to tie into a few pikes today so we started trolling with some crankbaits. My motor seemed to die when I tried to troll at very low speed, it idles fine but when I put it in forward gear it would just stop. It does go pretty slow already but I wanted to try even slower. We trolled for half an hour or so to no avail so we anchored at a quiet bay and ate our lunch. My dad decided to use put on a worm and I kept casting my spinners looking for mr.pike. Not too long after he dropped his rig he landed the first fish, it's a small one but we HAVE to take a picture of the first one . I rarely see such a big smile on my dad's face in fishing pics. That little bay is loaded with panfish and my dad was nailing them, all little ones though. They're even hitting my #4 mepps, just can't hook up since the hook is too big. I decided to bring out the small tubes just to catch a fish ... i haven't caught one in almost a month. Within seconds, here's my first fish in my "girlfriend #2" Again, a small one but I've got to take a pic lol. We scouted various spots and tried fishing at different depths, I casted spinnerbaits, spinners, cranks ... and no pike. It is a bit disappointing but we did hook into a few good sized WGSF. Look at the muscle power in my arm needed to lip this one. We fished till 7pm and decided to call it a day. Putting the trailer back onto the boat was also a smooth one, we got hammered by the mosquitoes though. I've gotta be doing something wrong with finding mr.pike ... but o well, there's always next time. I blame the barometric pressure as the clearing of the storm increased the pressure ... but then seeing JohnnyBass/Sinker did well on the same day that kinda just shut me up lol. I'll be sure to find a big one to slime up the boat next time out! Since everyone takes one of these pics I'll end the report with one ...
