Finally got the boat out of the garage to do some lake O fishing myself. Out yesterday off 50 Pt. I got into the Rainbows that you wouldn't believe, I lost count, 20 anyway and lost I don't know how many. Quite a few fish in the 10 to 12 LB. range Got there as soon as the park opened. Headed out to 90 FTW. I tried to set 2 riggers but it was almost imposable, for 2 hours the rods were going off big time. I was beat in that heat , setting lines, netting fish, trying to set again. I only got a few pictures taking them myself is a chore. My poor camera got slimed all over. All fish were released except 2 I couldn't revive. Man what a day with that heat, I didn't want to get off the lake with fishing like that. Stayed out from 7 am to 3:30 pm. I only had a 1 hour dead time. I hope this weather doesn't screw up the fishing for Monday, taking a few guys out. I hope it won't be, You should have been here yesterday days

How come you guys don't say anything about over harvested Sheephead, just thought I'd through that in. If you guys only new how many Big Rainbow and Salmon ended up in dumpsters when the Star derby ran years back when you got a ticket in the draw for every fish over 10 Lbs. It was a greedy slaughter. The fishery in Lake Ont. was a commercial fishery years ago when the Hamilton beach Strip was lined with nets. Then died. Then brought back for recreational fishing but then it was advised not to eat contaminated fish as they tell use today, but some people do including myself, take a chance. Then the big Boom hit the lake with the derby and the charter boat invasion which was big business. In a round about way it was a put and take fishery, whether people admit it or not. Now if they could only clean up the watershed and bring back natural reproduction but with the population booming it doesn't look good. So keeping your limit for the person that only fishes once in a while is not so bad. If they eat them, thats there choice, just don't take them and throw them in the garbage, release them. Everyone has there opinion and interpretation of the fishery. Just don't bang a guy having a little fun catching his limit. Life's to short.

Spiel invited me to join him and Brook to do some evening Salmoning. Left Fisherman's Pier and headed out, hoping to catch a few fish. Trolled toward Bronte, just west of the Shell pier Chris rod went off, first fish in the box. Shortly after, bam mine went of with a Tumored Rainbow, back overboard it went. then Chris got into another fish, in the box. Chris had his old standby lure on he's had for years, Then BAM! BIG Rainbow up out of the water a few times and "SNAP" Chris's old stand by was gone. Must have been a nick in the line because not to much pressure was put on the fish, drag was set lite. What a disappointment, Big over 10 plus Rainbow gone and favorite lure. We ended the night with 5 small eater fish for the smoker. Can't wait to get back out again. Maybe tomorrow Thanks Chris for the invite.

Did you see the nut picture? I think my motor is a little older than yours ,but almost looks the same. Mines a 30 LB thrust, my pin looks a little heavier. I knock it out with a smaller bolt and hammer, mine came out pretty easy.
-
Yes we are, Your lucky that you didn't lose the thump nut in the water like my buddy. I was luck as you, it stripped in my hand. Just watch you don't melt to much. that piece is thick where the thread is. Just go easy. I wish I could be there to help. I hope you understand what I posted. I'm going out to take a picture of mine, after shot. Be back in a couple Min's. Picture is a little blurry, see the the nut inside.
-
Had the same thing happen to mine. I fixed it by installing a nut on the inside. Takes a little bit of work but mines better than new. You have to take the top off which is the control handle so you can get the clamp off. You disconnect the wires inside 1 black 1 red, 1 white 1 yellow. After clamp is off you take the insert out and the little piece that the thump screw pushes on. I took a electric soldering gun and melted a counter sink hole around were the thump screw comes through on the inside to fit a nut. I got a nut the same size and thread as the thump screw. Make sure you don't melt to much, a little at a time. Once I got a bit of a hole the size of the nut that the nut would stay I put the gun on the nut so the nut would melt into the plastic. I found a longer bolt the same size to help keep the nut in-line with the hole. The nut doesn't have to be right flush because there is enough play. I also knock the pin out of the tilting part, made it allot easier. If you live in Hamilton you could drop by I'd show you mine. They should have made them that way. A friend of mine has the same problem and I'm sure there's lot with the same thing. I'll post a wiring picture in a couple mins.

How many people are retired thinks HST is a good thing. All I know, which is not to much, at the end of the day fishing yesterday we stopped for gas to fill the truck and boat cost me an extra $20.00 for gas, treated my 2 buddys to a quick beer at the landing, bill came $14.30 for 3 beers. My buddy near had a fit, won't be back hear agian. We talked going home about what were going to see on our heating bill, come winter . What was left in my pocket at the end of the day told me how good HST was for me. But as you say, It could be good in the long run. Now its got me thinking about the 2 more trips this week, could be only 1 trip. Your right about one thing John, what lier can we vote for at the polls. Oh I almost forgot, the Perchin on Erie: Nanticoke was not to hot yesterday.
-
Nice fish, is that an Erie fish? I caught one last week on Erie near Rock Pt. same size with stand out markings.
