Everything is OK if he had the safe boaters operators card. That's just as bad as the gun registry, criminals can use guns as long as there registered. :rofl2: Just think, we vote for these people to run this country. Lew, remember the canoe instance.

Sorry for your loss of a great friend and buddy.

Thanks everyone. As many days I fish, I still get excited as it was my first. It doesn't mater what I fish for Salmon, Trout, Perch, Crappie, Whitefish, Walleye, etc. Size doesn't mater. As long as I'm on the water fishing, plus fishing with good buddy's. I guess that's why my wife says I'm a fishaholic. The Spiel Ultra Light stood the test, now my buddy wants one. Chris can you make me a Lew & Roy autograph series Muskie Rod

Glenn, Joe and myself went Perch fishing yesterday. Weatherman said the day was going to be bad, but we went anyway. Got to Erie at Lowbanks were we launched and not a soul to be seen. Bought minnows and headed out. I must say the Perch fishing was slow, maybe because of the storm moving in. It rained a few times but was fishable. We were catching a few nice size Perch, then all hell broke lose, when I was reeling in a small Perch, "BAM" My Spiel ultralight rod bent almost double. The line just screamed off the reel, 6 LB test with 4 LB backing. OH NO all I could think was start the motor and chase my line. I was down to were the backing was and I could see this being the end of my screamer which at this point we didn't know what was on the line, maybe a Carp, Channel Cat, Walleye or what ever. Never thinking it would be this. Pictures will tell all. We chased this fish, seemed like a 1/2 hour. Soon as I got it to the boat it screamed away again. What a circus. All we had was a small net, what are we going to do? Glenn did a great job netting for what he had. Almost 40" Muskie, snapped a couple quick pictures. Never did find the Perch that he grabbed. The small #6 egg hook was just in the corner of his mouth. I was using a couple homemade snelled hooks and sinker below. Back in to live another day She started to blow up and we ran out of minnows. Plus I think we had enough. What a great day. Thanks guys for making the day possible, Joe taking the series of pictures, holding each other up from falling over in the boat, and Glenn for being a great net man. I wish we had a recorder, as we each were coaching one another.

Just as Pike Hunter said this week in CTC. also the Kayak. A friend of mine son bought a Kayak that he now fishes small lakes. He loves it. I saw him fishing the Binbrook Crappie derby in it. He's got a rod holder fasten in front of him and paddle trolls. What a slick rig. I've been seeing a lot of guys Kayak fishing lately. I don't know if this is what your interest is of going lite. Ever think of float tubing? Just a suggestion. Good luck Bud

With all the White Fish in lake Erie. You don't hear anyone catching them by angling. Would be nice to hear that some have been caught by rod and reel. Would take the pressure off L. Simcoe. Are they possible to catch? Would you jig for them as Simcoe? Who would target them? Anyone have some thoughts on this?

Sorry no pictures, next time. Perch swam away from last hot spot, imagine that We tried same place as last week and gone. So we moved to shallower waters and we started catching. The place we launched was Mohawk Marine, east of Maitland nice place and very friendly, bought our minnows there and head out to the left about 1 mile to 28 to 30 FTW. started drifting till we found them, then anchored. Was slow at first, then non stop catching. We had to leave early for other comitments. Ended the day with 60 nice keepers. I think were heading back in a couple days. "Oh" and the Walleye are in close around 50 FTW. for the flat line trollers Take a few heavy split shot and a big Erie worm harness with a big juicy night Crawler back a couple hundred feet or so. Place... it's a big lake, some place around Maitland. Go getem.

Thats what I was told also, and I was a OMC man all the way. Now if I was looking for a 2 stroke, I'd be looking at the Etec. For a 4 stroke, I have 2 honda's but I be looking at the Merc or Suzuki. I've been in Spiel's boat and I can tell you, his Merc 75 HP tiller 4 stroke is way quieter than my Honda 50 tiller. But that is my opinion.

My buddy and myself headed to Maitland yesterday. No minnows to be had in Dunnville. Good job I took a few frozen minnows from home. We fished the end of the pier but nada, so we head east. We stopped a few places, still nada. Boated into Mohawk Marine, he had Minnows. Back out on the lake we headed east from there, what a boat ride. We ended almost 12 miles east of Maitland 52 FTW. We hit the honey hole, 1, 2 at a time, none stop action. Just hit the bottom and fish on. My buddy said he never seen fishing like it. We had to keep every fish because they blow there stomach. We got lots of jumbos and some small ones thrown in. Man what a day!! The lake started to blow, the long 2 hour run back to maitland against 2 to 3 foot waves. Biggest Perch was 13 1/4" Chris (Spiel) the Rod worked great, it never let me down buddy ;D

Your right Wayne. Just came home long enough to do some chores and heading out Perching tomorrow then doing a Crappie derby Sunday. Not enough days in a week. I just picked up my Spiel custom made rod. Now I've got to get him to show me how it works on Whities........ Chris I hope you read this...Hint Hint Hint. -
TJ I learned my lesson years ago when I had a fish hut on Simcoe, never leave anything of value that you don't want stolen. Take it with you. Some people don't have morals. I know how you felt when you seen it gone, not a good feeling. Almost makes you sick.

Joey were did you stay. The marina and resort has closed up on the east end of the lake. fish-meister, to bad we didn't meet up. You must have stayed on little Gull west end. You have to go through the narrows to Big Gull. Mostly Bass and Pike west end. We don't fish west Gull, we mostly fish the deeper part of the lake on the shoals. If your there again when we are, we have FRS radios we talk on between our group. -
Our Annual Big Gull Trip (pictures)

Yes you got it bare foot, the resort is Kirk Kove Cottages, towns close by are Kaladar & Northbrook. We've been going there for 7 years now. Owners Jim & Clare are very nice people. We don't target Muskie, season is closed. If I could go more often, I mite give them a try but I've been bitten off a few times. You've got that right fishnsled. I'd love to do that trip 2 or 3 times a year. 1 week goes by pretty fast. Too long of a wait for next year. It's a nice lake to have a cottage on, Big Gull is 85% crown land. Joey Were did you stay? The marina and resort has closed up on the east end of the lake. Wally, farmer#2 you'll be with us next year buddy
