  1. Had a great time with the boys. Three of our guys drove up from Nova Scotia. We didn't get lots of fish, but it was fun working for them. We got about 50 Walleye for the week which gave us a couple good fish fries, man are they good fresh. Just a few pictures for your enjoyment. This was a 2 day catch for 8 guys. Picture taken going to the filleting shack while the other boy's were on a supply run to town ;D. Biggest fish for the week was 21 1/2" This is what we saw before heading back to the cottage every night. This is just one of our secret spots. As I said you have to work for your fish, but thats part of fishing. 1/4 to 3/8 oz jig with a night crawler was our arsenal that did the trick, plus lots of snags ;D
  2. Just another idea I picked this 2X4 aluminum tubing up at Beach Road scrap metals. Plus I got a piece for my buddy's 16' at Metal Supermarket.
  3. Thanks guys. They should start coming in Harry to the pier. We did stop there and ask a few guys fishing, as you said no luck. I'm gone to Big Gull for a week tomorrow, hope there closer when we get back. That was a long ride east. Took us 55 min. to get back to Maitland, was a little chop coming back. My buddy said he had to swallow, he felt something in his throat. The problem it's such a big body of water, they could have been closer, it's finding them. Even were we were they kept moving. There close to the bottom. Who would of ever fished years ago for Perch in 60 to 70 FTW. Now if we could only find the Whitefish out there
  4. Mite be good, but could put a knife in the back of the local little CA guy.
  5. Charlie, I've had Big Jons since 75. I've never had auto stops. I looked for something years ago and gave up. One guy told me he bought some auto stops and had nothing but trouble, unless they have made something better. The only thing I do now is set the drag on the rigger just so it barely lifts the ball. When it gets to the top and if you can't get to it in time, the drag slips, plus if you get your ball stuck on the bottom, you don't lose it. Sounds a little red neck but that's what I do.
  6. Thanks for posting, Love the Dad story :D and nice fish also Last night my dad and i finally got out fishing and after a slow start with me waiting inside for him to pic me up and him sitting in my garage waiting for me to get home we finally left after 30 min of wondering where we each were, when we were actually there. "Oh the memories"
  7. Thanks Wayne. Just as Fishnsled has in his signature. I heard Chronzy had some health issues, Fishnsled. Hope he's ok now. I like his show, sometime he says it like it is. Plus I don't know to many fisherman that don't like a few wobblies and a few fish fries It was an added feature of a good day catchin a few fish and watching a film shot of your sport. Fishnsled, I like your signature.
  8. Lew, I guess were just from the old school. The world is getting, I don't know . maybe to fast.
  9. Yes Brian, me and the wife talked about Art last night. Very funny clean comedy just as Red Skelton. Only if you could turn time back. Thanks for posting Brian
  10. Gezz, I must have missed something . Bass boater, I apologize if I offended you . I said """SOME""" not ALL Plus I was talking Speed also. When you see a bunch of boats together slow down. It's like your in a Mall parking lot full of cars going 60 MPH. BAM the guy backing out it was his fault, he should have been watching backing out. You just don't do it. Common sense. Accidents do happen, but try not to make one.
  11. Thanks for posting I've been waiting for this report. Talked to Chris when he got home, he said he had a fantastic time. Thanks Gerritt for getting the boy out , he needed a little north air. Looks like a beauty spot.
  12. Myself, and a few buddy's Hit Maitland this morning with no luck, so we traveled east past Mohawk Island out to 63FTW, still nothing. So we went farther east a few more miles, we seen a few boats almost to Morgans Pt. 50 FTW and we started catching some nice Perch. We saw a couple boats filming which we looked closer and it was Chronzy taping a show. He came over and said a few words. He was very curious about my buddy's boat that he won in the Perch Fest. He got his camera guy to film him. What a great day, caught a few fish and the weather was fantastic. And to top the day off, buddy that was with me caught this monster of a Perch 14" plus. Myself with a double Gronzy filming a show Ended the day with about 5 dozen between 4 guys. The Perch are out there guys, you just have to find them.
  13. I'll be there this weekend for a week. Where are you going on the lake? I've been going there for 6 years. We stay at Kirk Kove Cottages. We target Walleye, all we want is a fish fry and a good time. This year we are having a small Walleye Derby in our group of 16 guys. Great lake, 85% crown land, not many cottages.. Like mentioned above, watch the rocks. You have to work for your Walleye. I like this lake because it's a challenge with Lots of structure. If you go to there site, there is a few pictures of us in there photo gallery. May see you there, I can fill you in on a few spots. We just drift fish, transom elec. is almost a must when you lose your drift. Tackle, Jigs or small hook with leader barrel swivel and weight. Worms are all we use. http://www.kirkkovecottages.com/images/guest_gallery/images/68.jpg http://www.kirkkovecottages.com/images/guest_gallery/images/70.jpg http://www.kirkkovecottages.com/index.htm
  14. Lew, rules and common sense come to play. This happened at the Orillia Perch Fest. On lake simcoe side, their was about sixty boats anchored canoes small 12'ers and so on Perch were right their near the end of the channel markers. Guys with their cruisers & big Bass boats with 250's just had to show off how fast they can go, roared close to the pack of small boats fishing. Like you said, big wake, boats rocking, canoes all most tipping. Going that fast, if a small tinny decided to move out of the crowd and he hit the 12'tinny with a couple little kid's, I wouldn't want to see the results . Later, the Police boat came out checking boats for their safety equipment, I jumped right on him telling him he should be chasing those idiots roaring close to the small boats. The cop told me that they were in the right, soon as they get outside the channel they can go as fast as they want . I felt like climbing all over that cop. Safe Boaters Card makes me sick. After he checked the boats, just to be an idiot, the police boat roared by us as if he was proving something . One thing that is not in the boaters test, is they should have a courtesy common sense part of the test. "Some" of you Bass Boat guys, were fishing for perch, Bass season is closed. If your trying out for a TV show, your not starting on the right foot. Go roar some place else. I thought Bass boats were made for fishing.
  15. I was talking about frames and bolts structure, nothing was mentioned about how the box was secured. All boxes are made of tin Z-line or cold-roll
  16. Walter you getting bored? Or are you smoking the funny stuff?
  17. I'm sorry Hooked, I got to get new glasses. I did see you were on other sites inquiring. I'll let you know what my buddy say's when he gets back to me. I see you live in Stoney Creek, I lived there most of my life on Margaret Ave.S. from 1954 Sorry again Hooked
  18. Looks like the Ford ran away with everything. One thing with the ford, their frames are a lot bigger heavy duty and the hardware bolts are twice the size.
  19. Hooker I found this on Ebay, looks like he has a few http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300352109424#ht_500wt_956 http://fishergears.com/products/Ukko,-lure.html
  20. Hooker, I emailed my friend the antique lure collector. I'll post his info when he gets back to me. I've never heard of that make of lure, sure looks interesting, it looks a little like a Reef Runner lure. Be nice if we could get you on to some or a little info.
  21. Motor in the picture is a 115 Johnson 4 stroke, that motor was made buy Suzuki. I'd say your 70 should be worth 3000 if in good shape.
  22. Do you have a picture of your lure? or name of the lure. My buddy buys Ugly Ducklings from ebay, that lure you just don't find in stores. I have a friend that is head of a antique lure club. I could ask him a few questions on your lure if you like. The link below may help http://www.luremaking.com/catalogue/catalogue-index/crankbait_components-index.htm
  23. I know a guy in Dunnville thats reasonable, if your interested. Might be a little to far for you.
  24. First, avoid weekends and opening if possible. When I used to fish the Telegraph Narrows, Big Bay and Foresters, I just Drifted with a #2 or 3 silver Mepps and worm near bottom. If you can't get a good Drift, crack the Elec. 1 notch
  25. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Great report, I felt like I was there, reading your post. Fantastic pictures. Now if I could only go on an trip like that, "Man"
