Morning boys and girls....... Just as I thought....Lake Erie was angry yesterday morning... .....2-3 footers so we never launched the boat at the Catt....fired up my trusty Tundra truck and headed southwest for another 40 miles or so...to Chautauqua Lake which means bag tied in the middle by our natives here...... Bing Bang Boom at my favorite secret spot #1....never lifted the anchor even once.....over 100 crappies, and about the same amount of Bluegills/Pumkinseeds were also caught, however MOST of the crappies didn't make the mandatory 9 inches so they were released for another time.....LOTS of 8.5 and 8.75" fish... But we did catch 18 keepers.....several largemouth and my buddy John got one nice smallmouth pushing the 4 lb mark.....I had on a bluegill and a small musky around 3.5' came up and grabbed it and swam around with it for a awhile before releasing it.... ....not much you can do with a musky on a light rod with 4# test...LOL Hope the rest of you good fishing folks nail them today and tomorrow.... I have the exact bases on my boat but I have never had a problem with them....my post has a plastic insert on it though....I just hate how you have to push you foot against the locking clip before you pull up on them. HUH, no one here gets their vehicle rust proofed anymore....at one time Ziebart was very popular but with the way the manufactures build them now all the Ziebart dealers went belly up.

I was picking on Cliff.....

The more oily the fish the better....White Fish is #1....then salmon/trout and Pike is very good also.....this year I will be trying smallmouth from Erie and see how it comes out. If it's not good I will gift it to my youngest son....LOL....he like anything that's free (my favorite four letter word...and his too)...LOL

I know exactly what Cliff is talking about as I witnessed it first hand while staying at Cliff's last June.......I don't think this has anything to do with feeding the family due to economic reasons as the boat I watched take every under size walleye that came over the gunnel was a very expensive bass boat with every high end toy aboard it. And I believe Cliff is referring to boat anglers as he can monitor them VERY easily from his back yard deck which is about 20 feet above the water line. Poaching is poaching.....we need to stop it no matter who is doing it. Bob

You can also use them when fishing under low hanging branches......great bait for catching squirrels.....
