I wasnt on the rod, but i watched him crank the drag. And even thumb the line.the reel was starting to pull out of its seat in the rod, i was frankly amazed something didnt break before it snapped the backing -

We had a fish this year take 1000 ft of 65 lb braid without stopping or slowing or turning and no amount of drag or thumbs would slow it down. Ever had a brown do that? My point wasnt to make the other fish seem lesser but to make kings seem like the legitimate top three fighting fish in ontario that they are. Which they are hands down -

Spoken like someone who has never had a 30 lber screaming drag in 300 ft of water, rainbows cohos and browns are too small atlantics are near non existent what else would i rig for down there. Trust me if i couldnt fish pike in ontario killpage isnt the word i would use... It would be something of unimaginable scale. I understand kings were introduced but it was to control the alewives and became and excellent fishery unto itself. These fish bring pain and emptyness and no foreseeable benefits for anyone anywhere.Lastly i enjoy fishing common carp in my backyard canal off simcoe when nothing else is open. Because, why not thats why, fishin is fishin I hope you see where im coming from my friend -

If the day comes where you can no longer catch kings downrigging in lake ontario im going on a killpage... Headsup -
I like the superstitions, keeps things fun No bananas. No sunscreen gas or bug spray on the hands, if your trolling dont watch the rod because you will catch nothin. Salmon trolling requires talking laughing screwing around whatever it takes to not look at the rods. Never ever leave the scale it, for us this is the death blow for salmon, we have never caught a mature if the scale is not in the bottom of the tackle box where it belongs. Also keep the pliers close at hand. Whew thats a lot, and theres more but we'll stick with those since every man has to have his secrets

Went up to haliburton to try get a couple skis over the weekend. We rented a cabin at kashaga lodge and 4 of us went. Two of the guys have never caught a muskie and my boat partner had one out canning. Sat. We headed down kash to canning while casting and trolling the whole way. My buddy caught a nice smallmouth in east kash. Next while trolling canning over a shallow weed bed i had my big storm dbl jointed hit weeds so i gave a good yank, the line wrapped around my rod tip and as i was unwinding it a massive ski hit the bait and came right out of the water. Unfortunately the bait flew away from his mouth and he was gone. Later in the day we met up with a buddy of ours with a cottage up there completely at random. Long story short he was trying to take a leak out the back of his tinny when it took a big gulp of water and swamped. So we dragged it to shore drained it and towed him back to his cottage, by then it was near dark so we did the mission back to our cabin. The other boat had managed about an 8 pound muskie trolling a mepps. Sun we stayed in kash and fished the entire east lake. My buddy got two muskie both on a spinnerbait and both in the 4-6 lb range. I had a 40+ incher follow me up but of course i forgot to figure eight for the first time in 100 casts and as soon as i pulled the vibrax out i saw it and he bounced. Monday we woke up late due to possible over consumption( possible) fished a few hours for naught and headed home. It rained it was windy it was cold i caught nothing and had a great time doin it. I will be back. P.s. Posting pics takes me a while ill hopefully have them up shortly

Gotta be a stick, when i bought my 11 ranger it was almost 5 g for 4x4 which i couldnt afford My truck is stock stock standard and i love it My other truck is a 03 4x4 ranger level 2 6in lift and 33 in tires. Thats what i use to launch the 20 ft chapparal. My other one wont pull it out of a simcoe launch

Fire starters for emergency if needed. Do you carry anything?
Gnote replied to npt1's topic in General Discussion
Always have a lighter since i smoke, rarely do i not have a flashlight that i can destroy to make a fire plus the battery in the boat which i can always get a spark off of. Usually have lighters hidden in other places too in case one dies. -
Nice gators man!

I do not have medical research on this so use at your own risk. I used to get it real bad but the last couple times it was a little here little there I scratched it with a beer cap and poured rubbing alcohol on it. It felt awesome, it died, and did not itch again Warning!!! I did this on my feet and legs which are pretty scarred and scratched anyways and i dont know if this is bad or not but if i get it again this is what ill do. Good luck

I love hockey and i like the leafs. I find your generalization of leafs fans offensive(squid) I do not like kessel but i think the first slash was justified. The rest no i also dont care for phaneuf either. I just want them to play meaningful games in the spring for a change. I dont understand what upsets you so much??? Do you like the raptors or something??? By the way my wife has a cat named squid who has six toes. I dont like him either have a nice day sir.

I live 10 doors down from the launch and it is a special one. When i fish 15 times a year at bluffers park for salmon i have to pay so i fail to see the difference( other than this launch being muddy and weedy and the one in scar crowded with the most interesting of city people) i agree that any money should go towards launch improvement and or towards the watershed Hahaha.... Yeah right -
I can only get so much time off work or i would go once a month. I have fished up there in late sept but the big girls are harder to get after a seasons worth of pressure. When we go in spring we get first or second crack at them because there isnt exactly a whole lot of ice fishin going on. They are also a lot easier to find in spring but not always easier to catch

Well done! I cant wait till spring to get back up north
