  1. All things equal - Fashion wins, other than that practicality first!
  2. I'm hoping on attending Friday - and possibly meeting some fellow OFC'ers.
  3. I gotta wait until MARCH 2008 to get 'em These lures certainly caught me - I'll have a few in my tackle box!
  4. My son put his phone through the washer and dryer (by accident) and it worked for a few days then quit. Don't waste your money on the Extended Service Program if you are prone to accidentally dipping your phone since water damage is not covered. All phones now have moisture indicator tape in various locations on the phone and battery. Cool video!
  5. I'd sign up for that deal if I wasn't already receiving my OOoD from OFAH.
  6. Obviously awarding a contract based solely on "lowest price" is flawed logic. Certainly other criteria need to be included to avoid farces like this. Suppose he was to combine business with pleasure (illegally) - the taxpayer would be supporting it. Outrageous.
  7. Nice catch! Reminder to myself to get out on the ice!!
  8. I get Ontario Out of Doors as part of my OFAH membership. Getting it this way provides me with monthly updates of the OFAH activities. Read In-Fisherman, Outdoor Canada and Real Fishing from time to time but don't subscribe.
  9. Disregard post - was thinking of Horseshoe Lake off HWY69 S. of Parry Sound. My bad.
  10. With the fantastic support that Bernie provides, it makes me want to go out and get a Chevy 4X4. The great forum members make this a truly wonderful site.
  11. I started out using Trilene XL than thought I would get fancy and try other lines. I have been very happy with SilverThread that I have tried in lighter varieties. Sometimes you gotta stick with what works and ignore the marketing hype.
  12. Nice looking Lakers for sure, WTG!
  13. :clapping: (laughing too hard to type)
  14. I was so excited when I got a PM last night. I imagined someone had read my recent posts and was going to hook me up with some demo line BUT NOOOOOOO!!! it was Good work mods getting this junk out of here.
  15. Thanks to everyone for your replies - looks like co-polymer is the clear leader (no pun intended). I certainly plan to see you Mark at the Sportsman show for the Gamma demo (another co-polymer). BTW, I am experimenting with 15lb braid on a light rod and have been pleased so far. Tie a short flouro leader using a uni-uni knot. Cheers...
  16. No pictures of the beautiful Perch filets cooking over an open fire?
  17. Hi everyone, I'm looking for a good all around line that I can use while leisurely trolling in my canoe. The primary lake that I troll hold small to average Pike, medium to large Smallmouth and the odd Largemouth (and is located in the Parry Sound area). I also slip out to another area lake for a shot at Lake Trout (using my portable downriggers). The reason I'm looking for recommendations is because in a fit of boredom yesterday I set-up a test environment (as suggested by Irishfield) and tested all the lines I could get my hands on. I had good results with most of my 4 and 6lb lines (except for two mentioned in another post) but TERRIBLE results for my 8lb inventory. The results were as follows (rated/breaking point): Rapala Finese 8/5 Mustad THOR 8/6 Trilene XT 8/7 Lines that produced better than rated results included Trilene Premium, Trilene Sensation and Excalibur SilverThread - unfortunately I didn't have these in 8lb versions. Should these be the lines to get or do you have other experiences to share (good and bad). Is it obvious I need to get out fishing? Thanks, Barnie
  18. Nice work guys! I hope to make my first foray out on the ice this month.
  19. I'm here crying (about the Leafs and the cup) because I know it's true. Long suffering Leaf fan
  20. The Eagle Cuda 168 would certainly do the job except provides much less screen resolution. And cost of ownership using AA batteries would exceed the small up front premium of the Eagle FishMark 320 or Hummingbird 535. Spend a bit more now and save a later upgrade to a higher resolution unit later. My opinion, YMMV. Cheers..
  21. If you have your heart set on the portable Hummingbird 535 - the Canadian Tire at Bay & Dundas has 2 units in stock at $199.99 (reduced from $289). Was not a clearance item so likely price goes back up on Friday.
  22. I've got the portable Eagle Fishmark 320 that I use in my canoe. Happy with the unit. About $20 more than what you are looking at. Runs on one 12V 7A/hr battery. This link has the details. http://store.bestfishfinder.com/eafi320po11.html Forgot to mention I carry this in a soft Plano bag - with a few pockets to store miscellaneous items.
  23. Fantastic report - next time let us know what time dinner is
  24. Congrats on the purchase of your new tackle box!
  25. I hear ya Roy! I'm not so worried about the quality of the rods and reels I have from them. But stuff does break and I'm hoping their lousy line support is not an indication of their overall attitude towards the buying public. Any suggestions out there for a quality 4lb test mono. Used on an ultralight rod hunting superb panfish such as Crappie and Perch?
